Hi Mako-san, I came here from your "quit my job" video. You're so pretty and cheerful btw! Thank you for sharing your very realistic thoughts and tips. I absolutely agree with living a frugal life despite salary increases. That was how I managed to have decent savings before I quit my job last year (when I was 28). I was so thankful to my past self for saving aggressively. I like how calming your videos are. I'll go check out your other videos now :)

I did exactly the same things, quit my job, simplifies my life, moved to a bigger apartment outside of Tokyo (but cheaper) and now I feel happier and more lively than before In stead of spending 4000 yen a day for food and coffee like I did when I work at the office from morning to night I now cook myself healthy and nutritious food which is much much cheaper I know that as you said, being stressful is expensive

exactly! I absolutely don't miss blowing my money just to distract myself from the stress...

As a 70-yer-old retiree, living solely on Social Security, I had already arrived at all of what you listed. It was a necessity but I also knew, before I retired, that life was going to get much simpler and leaner. (I could have worked longer- my boss didn't want me to leave- but I chose "time" over "money"). Life is actually fuller for me now, despite having to make drastic cutbacks to my expenditures (or maybe because of that!). Although you and I are of different generations, I find your videos inspiring and there is something to learn in each one of them as well. Having a "rich inner life" gives ones existence joy and color.

My plan is to quit my job in 3 - 6 years when I have enough money invested to be able to live on the divident. I am considering quitting earlier and taking a lower paying work that won't stress me as my work now is doing. I hope everything works out well for you.

I learned a lots that I literally need from this video !!! Simultaneously, I am wondering how you obtained the jaw-dropping beautiful English accent! Actually I have been an English learner for decades, but still my Japanese accent has stuck with me persistently,even after I took a phonics course. *sob*. That’s why I request you introduce us how to be a native speaker like you on your channel;)

Thank you so much for your kind words 🥺💗 you just made my day! I went to University in the U.S. so obviously that's an advantage for me but I still do have accents! remember, accent is your personality represents who you are :) You should definitely start a podcast! The biggest challenge is to start, but it will get easier and easier as you get used to it! 素敵なお言葉本当にありがとうございます。とても嬉しいです✨

Great video! What phone plan did you switch to in Japan to save money on data?
@mylifeasmako Жыл бұрын
thank you! I actually don't have any monthly plan right now, I just add data on my e-sim when I need it, around $10 every 2 months. I recommend rakuten mobile if you are looking for an affordable option!

Why do you use such a heavy filter? 😅

When I filmed this video, the lighting was bad and it looks like I have a heavy filter... 😅 I haven't changed the stetting on my camera but I learned to work better with lighting and my recent videos should look better...? let me know if they still look like I have a filter!
