You just taught me a valuable lesson. Thank you. Just another great benefit on your channel. I am very amazed at the Buffalo Turbine!! That thing is awesome! It blew leaves halfway across your yard! The drive to your cabin was awesome--just like here in N.C. You and I do share a bit in common. Not only do our political thoughts align, but your philosophy regarding credit cards also is spot on the same as mine. I have several cards that I use for various purposes and none carry a balance. It's all about the interest, Daddy. This year my truck will be paid off, which will allow me if I so choose to increase my payments on my tractor, which is now under $9,000. My credit rating is A+, and I would bet so is yours. We are ready for anything. Hopefully, our children do likewise as we say and not necessarily as we do. And, at least your ride home from Cabela's was with a sense of contentment and relief instead of anger and frustration. Long life good customer support! Be good. Those Elk burgers looked so inviting!

You may have mentioned this along the way but consider propane tankless water heaters, one for the cabin and another for the bath house. No delay for heating a tank and easily winterized by blowing them dry or pumping RV antifreeze. Swapped out to one in our camper parked on a remote property and am quite pleased.

I'm from Eau Claire, WI, home of Menards. John Menard had a disagreement with Dewalt years back. Dewalt wanted to be the sole power tool sold at Menards and John said no...or so I heard. I'm also a Dewalt guy. We have Farm & Fleet as well as Fleet Farm stores up here so we still have plenty of places to buy everything Dewalt sells. As far as the 2x4s, most Menards stores I've been to will have 8' 2x4s inside the store, so you don't have to go out back just for a few boards.

Hi Mike You might want to build a foam insulated sound box for your generator. You could run an underground line out about 100 ft from the cabin and you would not hear it. If you use a remote control start generator you could start it when you need it and when your done you can pack it up and take it home. We use a sound box while camping and it drops the decibels way down. The further you move it away the better. You could build it to look like the cabin then insulate the inside with 2 inch foam. Put a door on the back side and close it up. Ready to go home just unplug the generator, throw it in the back of the truck and your done.

You will love that scope once you get it sited in. My buddy has the same brand and he has uses it to take coyotes at night. It's amazing the technology packed into those scopes. He showed me a video taken from the scope of a coyote he shot at night. You will have to make a video of the scope when you get it set up. I myself would mount it on one of two calibers of varmint rifles I have (22-250 or a 243) which are both very capable and accurate. Wishing you the best.

Hey Mike, yes Elk is very good, just like deer, I would grind a good portion of the deer a d use it just like beef in some cases in others had to add a little fat. On the cabin power and pump, I have a place in the country down here in Texas and use solar generator with some used solar panels for most of the power in the spring, fall and winter. For the shower I have a small solar system (harbor freight), a couple golf cart batteries a 12 volt pump, couple 55 gallon drum fir water storage on a raised platform and a propane heater. My wife and I have been using this setup for at least 15 years, just need to replace batteries every so often and drain the water out of the pump and heater in the winter. I like what you do and say, ee are very like minded and I shared you last video with my family and got good responses from them. Keep up the great videos. God Bless!

Hey Mike, I'd make all of your electric run off of the main cabin. I'm not sure on any benefit to make them separate and I think it just lends yourself to more aggravation in the event you have any power issues from the generator or battery backups. If you have a strong reason, great, but I just didn't hear one on the video today. Thanks, Brian Shoutout to the Huntman and I hope he's feeling ok these days! All the best to the Morgan's! Next trip down to the cabin, bring that tractor and blower, that property and roads really could use that fantastic blower to clear off those pesky pine needles!

Highly recommend a hybrid hot water heater for a low power solution. The key is if it can be installed in a spot with enough ambient heat in the air to allow it to put that heat into the water tank AND help dehumdify the air in the cabin in the hotter months especially. Love ours and it cut our energy bill by 1/3rd on average and 30% of total cost and install labor is a credit on your taxes for energy efficiency improvement.

Our Camp has a nearby shower rental at the local convenient store in the basement... like using a shower at a campground. 5 or 10 bucks for the use of their shower room. not sure if you could find anything like that nearby or not. It would keep from needing a significant amount of energy to create hot water for your own shower. most often we can do a 1 night sleep over and hot water from on top of the wood stove and a sponge bath in a basin in the shower room is enough to get by until you make it home. long stays... like a work day followed by hunting camp... the nearby shower room rental is nice. that way we don't have to install a shower, heat all winter to keep from frozen pipes.

Menards beats the other big box stores, no question. Like you mentioned Mike, the lumber process isn’t great. But for hardware, random electrical or plumbing needs, they’re the clear winner. For example, if you need an automotive buss fuse and you go to Lowe’s, you have to buy an assortment of 6-8 different sizes/voltages, at least. At Menards, every single size of fuse is individually packaged
