I Saw 700 Homeless People In A Single Day

The things I saw on American sidewalks are absolutely tragic.
If you’ve been following along with California’s implosion, you’re aware of the disaster happening right before our eyes. For the first time in the state’s history, California had a population decline. It’s getting more lawless here, and there are lots of bonehead decisions being made in Sacramento.
Add in the high cost of living, and tens of thousands of sensible families have had enough.
But there are lots of new people moving here too. Many of them are here on California streets.
In this video I’m going to show every homeless person and tent I saw while on a month-long road trip throughout California. The total number of tents and homeless people I saw was 702. I counted them - shot by shot.

They may have friends and family - just not any who are willing and able to help. No matter how much you care, people have to want to help themselves. Otherwise, they just drag you down with them.

@@amicaaranearum totally missed my point. It never occurs to people that you can be the last one left standing in your family. And if you think I don’t have friends it’s my fault again a misconception. Some of us are just plain unlucky or too gullible in life. I’m not playing the victim card. Totally accountable for my actions and blame myself

@kayeb7809 I agree with your comment and would like to add that the government has already thrown millions upon millions of dollars to help _"solve"_ homelessness, but most was to *pay high salaries of consultants* and wasted the rest. I can't believe that we do not have anyone with enough brains to figure out a comprehensive plan to help all levels of homelessness. I've had numerous conversations with friends, including brainstorming sessions, and our ideas sound way better than those professionals that were hired to do the job. It's sad to think that the homeless adults were once kids who maybe had dreams, or even if they came from bad homes, aspired to do something better in their lives. Such a tough thing to solve.

There is tons of money spent for the people of the USA. Take my mom as an example. She's poor - lives on social security of 700 a month. She gets food stamps and FREE medical care. She had a stroke a few years back, stayed at the hospital a few days, got seen by about a bajillion doctors. Had an ambulance ride to the hospital. Final bill? 0 dollars. First rate care in a country that has the best medical care in the world (if you have access to it), for free. This kind of thing costs America a lot of money - it's money that we tax payers pay for "our own people." The issue isn't that we don't pay money for our own people - we quite clearly do. The issue is... how much are we willing to pay? Do we want to give every drug addicted degenerate a free home? Maybe you do, but I don't. Have you ever known any drug addicts? They are black holes for your sympathy and your help. You can help a drug addict and they will still rob you blind behind your back. And there will always be excuses. Until the mental health and drug addiction are addressed (probably by force), there is no helping a lot of these people. You can throw money at the problem and watch in dismay as it just gets worse.

I understand how heartbreaking it is to see this happen to our fellow Americans. But we must take a close look at the policies that enable people to slide into this terrible way of life. We must enforce vagrancy laws that are still on the books of many cities. We must also understand that misplaced empathy e.g. allowing people to live this way and feeling sorry for them only exacerbates the problem. I believe the homelessness problem in this country is reaching a level of self-sustainment and growth. If we don't take action and stop the policies in our liberal cities that enable this problem, it will become more ubiquitous and unsolvable.

I think the tiny home setup is a very dignified way to house people. Your ideas are gold. There are ways to make things better but I'm afraid there is a very malignant ulterior motive going on that has to do with depopulation. I think they want these people to eventually kill themselves, even those who are misfortunate. In a country like America it's Mind blowing and downright terrible to know people are existing like this, coming from a lower class poor family in the Midwest myself, I have experienced what it's like to be homeless first hand, and I can personally say it's a feeling of complete hopelessness and failure to the point of wishing I didn't exist, luckily I realized if I wanted to live life and not be homeless, I'd have to work and be responsible for ensuring I had a roof over my head first and foremost along with a commitment to a job! What goes through the mind of today's homeless is beyond my realm of knowledge, here in the Midwest US there is minimal homelessness compared to anywhere else in the country, but it does exist, personally I think a serious misappropriation of taxes and government funds is only accelerating this issue, just my two and a half cents ❤Liked your vid as always

As a subscriber I watch your videos all the time. Over 40 % of homeless people suffer with mental health issues and the ones hooked on drugs as well. The mental health system in this country is horrible. Many of these people have been in and out of the psychiatric hospitals. Rather than place them in a residential facility where they can continue getting help, they are released out in the streets because they have to permanent home to go to or they have become unsafe to live in the homes in which they came from.

When people say this is a drug problem, I'd like to answer that. Around 1900 in America, there were "drug stores" where they sold drugs. You could go in, buy cannabis or opium, along with many other drugs, of course. So why didn't we have dozens of homeless people on the streets back then? Family, social structure, and yes, religion, all exist for a reason. We've lost all that. If someone was a drunk or a hophead and lived on the street, we called them a bum. There's a reason why "bum" has a negative connotation - it's because it's something that is not, and should not be, desirable.

What bothers me is the government bureaucrats (elected representatives) have made it impossible for a capable person to build a home they can live in. As that is the case they should be allowing and creating places for the homeless to live - somewhere away from the big cities and with infrastructure so they can live fairly decently, even though maybe living in a tent - running water, sewage, access to medical help, electricity, food, clothes, the necessities.

It is a very privileged position that you live in if you believe that. Not all of us are capable of being responsible for our selves, at some times, or sometimes, all the time. Your nephew was very gentlemanly in placating your belief. I too live in a situation in which I am able to take responsibility for my self and have even been fortunate enough to purchase a home and raise a family. But at one point of my life, I was precariously close to ending up in exactly the same situation as these people. In fact, I was only one step ahead by the narrowest of margins. I was blessed that I had the will to live. I was blessed that I had the support of friends and family, but most of all, I was blessed with luck. Not all are as lucky as me. The one great lesson that I have taken from my experience is that not only are we responsible for the well being of ourselves, but we are responsible for the communities in which we live.
