My friend and I found an Anna's x Selasphorus hummingbird hybrid in our local park. It looked like an Anna's but with orange arm pits, tail, and even a few on its lower back. Really amazing experience!

This rarely happens with the Black-Capped and Carolina Chickadee. I rarely see it, you can tell just on how they look so different from the others. Beautiful Hummingbird, thanks Carole!

Why isn’t it a new species? It’s a mix of 2 other ones? In veggies broccolini a cross of broccoli & gai lan (Chinese broccoli ).

For some hybrids people make up names because they are so common (e.g. Olympic Gull, Nelson's Gull, Puget Sound Gull, Brewster's Warbler, Lawrence's Warbler, Sutton's Warbler etc.) but they are not genetically their own species, so it doesn't count taxonomically.
