This movie would’ve been good if it wasn’t called “Joker” & was centered around completely different characters that wasn’t related to DC comics. The movie wasn’t terrible, but I agree with some of the criticisms about this movie. It seems like Todd Phillips was ashamed of the first movie, so he went out of his way to undo everything he did in the first film because he didn’t like the fact that Author Fleck was being viewed as a martyr/hero/victim by certain people. Joker wasn’t even in this movie. It was just Author Fleck before he gained the confidence to become Joker. If some filmmaker is going to create a movie centered around Joker & Harley Quinn then I expect to see them escaping Arkham & causing chaos around Gotham, NOT a court drama.

One little thing I didn’t like about the first film is I never believe Arthur being Joker; just a guy pretending not to be his pathetic self… so this sequel doesn’t really bothers me and actually improves the first film for me.

I would love to see DC characters in the movies being treated realistically but also being basically the same (fantastical) as in comics (no just serious films with DC skin as Joker 1 & 2)… I think that was the Snyderverse but WB departed from that, but I never believed the actual audience wanted different.

I appreciate you still doing reviews here and there. We definitely respect and enjoy your takes on pop culture, especially DC stuff. I'll just say that I agree with you, this was disappointing. And I'll say, too depressing. I wouldn't even mind the ultimate theme if the road there was better executed. Not a terrible film but doesn't hold up to the first one and kinda ruins some things about the first one (the vagueness of the first one in terms of what really happened). Plus the musical sequences weren't what turned me off, they just weren't good enough/all out enough for me to recommend it as a musical either.

The jew director already admitted why he made this one the way he did. The first one empowered masculinity in men and that irritated the liberal left jews beyond belief, so they needed to demoralize the same group that ironically lead to the first films success.
