I used to be a maintenance manager for a large apartment complex in Atlanta and I saw it all.. I had a guy literally kick a Chihuahua PUPPY across the room in front of me once, I thought I was going to have a stroke my BP was so high. Also had a tenant call about ‘no AC’ and went in to find 4 adult Rottweilers a litter of 6 (still living) and several dead half EATEN puppies. They were living in conditions I can’t even describe here without getting banned. It was horrific and how someone was living in that filth is still beyond me. I’m talking poop and 🩸 everywhere. Btw the reason the AC wasn’t working was because his meter had been red tagged. Fool had no power!

I was doing an hvac job one time and me and my coworkers noticed a pitbull puppy chained up with no food and the only water it had was rain water I assumed and it was dirty as hell. 2x4's all over there place with nails sticking up for the puppy to step on. The only shelter this guy had was a corrugated metal roof leaning on a half broken cinder block wall that you could hardly qualify as shelter. We never saw anybody come out and give him attention but I presume they gave him just enough food to live because he skinny. Atleast the pup wasn't stuck in a cage full of shit but after being there for a week or so, nothing changed so me and my friends decided to take the puppy. It didn't take long for that dog to start getting fat and he was so happy to ride with us back to town. One of the co workers adopted the puppy and he got big quick. You aren't suppose to keep a dog outside with out proper shelter and adequate food or water. I don't think I dog should be kept outside 24/7 anyway, why bother having a dog at that point.

The first time I hosed out an a/c I was in high school and my parents had a window unit that wasn't cooling worth crap. They were going to throw it away. I took it out of the window and took my mom's dawn and put dawn in the cooling fins and started to spray it out with the garden hose. It worked great after letting it dry out. I thought to myself well there is water already in it from condensation that spraying it wouldn't hurt as long as I didn't get the control box wet.

Long ago I was the office manager for an HVAC company in California. Our techs saw all kinds of strange, shocking and/or gross situations but never animal neglect like this. Since everyone at the company was an animal lover (my employer and I both brought our dogs to work with us every day), I'm sure they would have also called animal control if they witnessed something similar. Those puppies were probably close to death from dehydration, starvation and the heat. Curtis, as a retired HVAC Commercial tech, I saw quite a lot in 25 years, Even Businesses do not maintain their systems (restaurants being the worst). Good job getting that unit cleaned. and just as you did, I too would have called the ASPCA...Good Job, God Bless.

I’m glad you called them! That made me so sad and angry to see. I hate people who can’t take care of their animals properly. You can tell by their yard and ac unit that they’re just disgusting dirty people. I’d call CPS as well to make sure their children are being properly taken care of and aren’t dirty themselves due to poor parenting and or just pure laziness

I lost my 12 year old coonhound a month ago to bladder cancer. She was a wonderful hunting dog and I will miss her dearly. I get really angry when I see people disrespecting animals. Your a good man for reporting this disaster. Also, the children should not have to live in such a dirty environment. I see lots of toys but look at those ducts. I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I hope they can get their situation straightened out and it will be better for everyone.

My fiance is a wonderful HVAC Technician and has told my horror stories... I went to a house where a woman and her family hoarded cats. It was horrible. He had to crawl through cat feces and a bunch of disgusting things. After his first round he called it. He got sick and never went back to that house. And I know that he wouldn't just give up on something unless it was serious. Bless yalls heart, those who actually put care into their work, we need more HVAC Technicians!
