Yeah it's definitely absolutely completely not metal. Not even close. There are metal bands ( Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Meshuggah, Fit For An Autopsy, Slaughter To Prevail, Jinjer, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Gojira, Fear Factory, Exodus, Overkill, Entombed, Kreator, Obituary, Lorna Shore, Dillinger Escape Plan, Behemoth, Nile, Cattle Decapitation, etc, etc) ...... ......and there are pretenders who want the metal label but refuse to play metal ( Nickleback, Disturbed, Stained, Guns -N-Roses, Cinderella, WASP, Motley Crue, Poison, Nelson, Winger, Stryper, Limp Bizkit, Lincoln Park, Dokken, Kingdom Come, Scorpions, etc etc)....... ......then there are bands that used to be metal but are now radio bands who have strayed away from metal and are never coming back because Bob Seger covers is all they have left in the tank (Metallica, Incubus) Yes...Incubus was a thrash metal band in the 80s along the lines of Wehrmacht, Kreator, and Sodom with a touch of Venom before they became a mainstream radio band.

LYRICS Oh, misty eye of the mountain below Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke Keep watching over Durin's sons If this is to end in fire Then we should all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night Calling out father oh Stand by and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side And if we should die tonight Then we should all die together Raise a glass of wine for the last time Calling out father oh Prepare as we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky Now I see fire Inside the mountain I see fire Burning the trees And I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me Oh, should my people fall Then surely I'll do the same Confined in mountain halls We got too close to the flame Calling out father oh Hold fast and we will Watch the flames burn auburn on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky Now I see fire Inside the mountain I see fire Burning the trees I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me And if the night is burning I will cover my eyes For if the dark returns Then my brothers will die And as the sky is falling down It crashed into this lonely town And with that shadow upon the ground I hear my people screaming out Now I see fire Inside the mountains I see fire Burning the trees I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire) And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire) And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire) And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

So I searched "I see fire metal cover", discovered Jonathan Young's absolutely spot on perfect cover, and dove in deep on his discography. I know a lot of people are saying they wanted it to go even harder and be more hard rock / metal vs a rock ballad style, but I don't know if I agree. This sticks truer to the original than a proper metal cover would have. EDIT: 2 weeks after my original comment and I'm obsessed with Violet's covers. Absolutely incredible. I was introduced to MALINDA's music through the Hoist the Colors clip that went viral, and now I've been introduced to Violet's music from this. Sometimes KZbin is a great thing.

KZbin is, a mixed pile at most times. But there are hidden gems, that when uncovered, truly makes up for the piles upon piles of utter brain mush. Gems such as this one. I like this cover but it's definitely not hard, like I thought it was going to be, especially from her introduction. Listening to this made me feel the way she described feeling listening to the Ed Sheeran version. But even though not metal, its still pretty and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

This song has a very special place in my heart. It is about facing a battle and understanding you might not make it. I love it. When Peter Hollins did his cover, I thought that the song could not be done any better. Now I find myself happily speechless...this cover brings a new power to the lyrics and meaning to this song. Perhaps it is because I am getting older and I continue to see people fight the same battles as before, the song has an even deeper meaning...or it could just be the power of your voices. Either way this is incredible. Thank you!

Lyrics Oh, misty eye of the mountain below Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke Keep watching over Durin's sons If this is to end in fire Then we should all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night Calling out for the rope Stand by and we will Watch the flames burn on and on The mountain side, hey And if we should die tonight Then we should all die together Raise a glass of wine for the last time Calling out for the rope Prepare as we will Watch the flames burn on and on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky Now I see fire Inside the mountain And I see fire Burning the trees And I see fire Hollowing souls And I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me Oh, should my people fall Then surely I'll do the same Confined in mountain halls We got too close to the flame Calling out for the rope Hold fast and we will Watch the flames burn on and on The mountain side Desolation comes upon the sky Now I see fire Inside the mountain And I see fire Burning the trees And I see fire Hollowing souls And I see fire Blood in the breeze And I hope that you remember me And if the night is burning I will cover my eyes For if the dark returns Then my brothers will die And as the sky is falling down It crashed into this lonely town And with that shadow upon the ground I hear my people screaming out Now I see fire Inside the mountains I see fire Burning the trees I see fire Hollowing souls I see fire Blood in the breeze I see fire Oh you know I saw a city burning out (fire) And I see fire Feel the heat upon my skin, yeah (fire) And I see fire (fire) And I see fire burn on and on the mountain side

This sound goes back earlier than Evanescence I'd say. The drum programming has a touch of early Evanescence but the guitar is totally late 80's/early 90's power ballad. This would easily been a frickin hit song back then. It still should be cause this is great.
