As a long term fan (since Birthday Party days), I'm disappointed Nick is choosing to play in Israel. I wonder if he knows that many of the ordinary people of Israel recently protested for the right of the IDF to mistreat detainees in any way they see fit (this was after a video was leaked of them torturing and sexually assaulting Palestinian prisoners). "This is Sodom," the protesters chanted. You can hear about it via James O'Brien kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmrFioZmZq6Me68 -- most of the media has stopped reporting on all this.

I am sorry if anyone is vituperative in their appraoch regarding the BDS issue as I think Nick Cave is a thougtftul and genuinely caring person. But I also he is deeply misguided in his feelings about Israel and the BDS movement so I will try to correct what I think he gets wrong the nicest way I can: It's not just the Netanyahu government. It's the whole society In Israel that has become evil and rotten to its genocidal core. This is because that is what Zionism--an ideology, which while unique unto itself, shares commonalties with the some of the worst, most heinous ideologies in human history; things like settler colonialism, ethno-supremacy, and yes, even nazism--creates. And it is on this poisonous ideology of zionism, which has historically sought to falsely conflate itself with Judaism and which has seized on the holocaust as the ideal historical opportunity to do so, which the country of Israel is based. As such what you blithely refer to "horrible complications"--are not a bug. They are a feature of a society based on this ideology of zionism.(judge a tree by the fruits). As such, it isn't "punishing" ordinary Isralis to not legitimize their horribly wicked, sick and deeply sadistic society...(sick because of the ideology it has fallen into the grips of) by performing there. It is in fact punishing Palestinians along with your many fans who are standing on the right side of history in solidarity with them, but who now can no longer enjoy the gift of your music, to refuse to look and/or feel deeply enough to do what your esteemed cohort Roger Waters has done; namely to "do the right thing". chng.it/tGDFXCJzTy

@@professorwalter1284 21.1% (around 2,080,000 people) of Israeli citizens are classified as Arab. So if Israel is trying to commit genocide, they’re doing a pretty piss-poor job of it. This comment was deleted by either the channel or youtube. I post it again Nick. Israel is an apartheid state. There are checkpoints between palestinian people's homes and their workplace. There is an ongoing colonization of the very little that remains of Palestinian land. There are 2000 pound bombs dropped on refugee tents. Yes, bombs on tents. There are innocent civilians dying in Lebanon. There are acres upon acres of ancient flora, ancestral olive trees among which people who figure in the bible have walked, being destroyed, uprooted and burnt with white phosphorus by the israeli military. A military in which every able bodied person in Israel has to serve. A military that is supported by the people, by the press... Nick, I followed your work, read your books. Your stance on this issue is not convincing. You have a reason for not condemning the genocide loudly. Being a fan, I have felt something beyond the verbal expression in your work. And now I feel something beyond your verbal expression on this matter. And I can say with honesty that what I'm feeling is a lack of sincerity. You have the stance of a zionist. Your stance aligns with a political and military project centered on creating some of the worst massacres and mass killings our civilization has ever seen, and that is justifying it with the undisputable suffering of jewish people in europe and elsewhere. Your stance aligns with a cause that is far from being just. Israel is burning one of the cradles of modern human civilization in the name of a bloodthirsty ideology that will be filling the darkest pages of future history books. And most importantly, it hasn't gone unnoticed that you haven't mentioned palestinian suffering nearly enough. That you haven't answered questions about palestinian suffering nearly enough. Not in the press, not on the red hand files. Lastly I would like to add that you have access to the images, to the stories from palestine. you can go read them. You are an incredible musician but you, like all of us are not immune to error. Change your stance, renounce the money that comes with your current one, you have enough of it and will leave without it when you go. But you won't leave without the red hand that seems to have become your mascot. I won't be going back to this comment to check for hate messages or anything else. I just thought I'd state something I had in mind since I was a fan. I now boycott you, even thought I know it would never be economically effective. I now am typing this even though I know it will never reach you physically. I'm typing just because.
