Last time I remember seeing a 73-77 Regal was in the early 90s...Especially in that very fitting shade of green. When it came to the GM A body it seems the Olds Cutlass sold ten for every one Regal. Neat seeing this nice and original example.

Nice. Rough idle could be a vacuum leak. Just dreaming but I would put a 4 barrel manifold on it, Edlebrock carb, HEI ignition and enjoy it. My 1st car was a 73 Regal. It needs Buick sport wheels.

I am glad IAAI listed the Buick as having intact driver and passenger airbags and having Alum/Mag Alloy Wheels. That should raise the value by a lot. The fact is this 1973 model could have come with factory air bags, but it didn't.

I would expect that if I sent my car to be detailed then they would clean the engine bay as well. I guess in this instance it doesn't really matter as we know the whole car will be covered in dirt again just by sitting in the IAA car lot. I did notice they left a bit of the trim sticking up under the rear window.
@TheREALOC19722 жыл бұрын
They did clean the engine bay that's why you can see the paint missing on the inner wheel wells instead of dirt and grime. That's a quick fix though, a wire brush a little rub down with some rubbing alcohol and spray can black wheel paint and it's good as new. Why wheel paint? Yes it's a lot more expensive BUT unlike regular paint it's thicker, lays down better and it can handle up to 900 degree temps so it will last longer.

In 1977 my father found and bought a very low mileage Olds Delta 88 sedan 350, the same size as that Regal. When we moved my brother from Mass to Louisville, that car was big enough to take 4 of us, all our luggage and a huge TV all the way down and a few side trips on our way back just my dad, mom and me.. Great cars back then.
@TheREALOC19722 жыл бұрын
No, The Delta 88 is bigger, it's on the B body Chevy Impala/ Buick Lesabre/ Pontiac Catalina, the Regal/Monte Carlo/Grand Prix/Cutlass was the shorter A body. They also made 2 different different A bodies, The Regal/Monto Carlo/Grand Prix/Cutlass were the regular A body and the Century/Malibu/Grand Am/442 were the Sport A Bodies.

Crazy paint color, I sort of love it. I really would have enjoyed seeing some touch up paint in the engine bay and fixing the exhaust manifold. It’s the content that would have made this so much more satisfying.
@TheREALOC19722 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same car, same color scheme but my interior is dark green instead of white. I kinda dig the color, I have to repaint mine because the Arizona heat has not been kind to the paint. I think when I repaint it I'm going to flip the colors, White body with a green painted roof but a different color green, something closer to the interior. I agree with the engine bay one the engine bay, a wire brush, some degreaser, a bottle of 90% Rubbing alcohol and some black paint goes a long way. and just a tech tech tip..... When i do stuff like cleaning up an engine bay or repainting an Air Cleaner I always use Wheel paint, it's thicker and lays downs easier plus it's designed to handle some heat.

I always thought these GM cars from the early ‘70s were pretty nice. The times were changing though, and by later in the decade things really went downhill. I think these will continue to appreciate in value, so hanging on to a nice example like this one wouldn’t be a bad idea. Someone will get a nice car. Nice retro looking color as well.
@TheREALOC19722 жыл бұрын
The mid-late 70's cars are the HOT builds out here in the Southwest and West because they are the last of the TRUE Muscle cars and they can still be bought CHEAP still. I bought a 73 Regal, purely on accident a little over a month, same colors as this one except my interior is Dark Green for $1200 and drove it home. I say on accident because I went to buy a 66 Belvedere but by the time I got there it was gone, The Regal was sitting right next to it and the guy laughed when I asked what he wanted for it, After giving him the $1200 and airing the tires up all the way I drove it 50 miles home, I originally intended cleaning it up and reselling it but after giving a good once over it was a MUCH better car than I though so I slapped some new wheels and tires on it and got it inspected and titled into my name and now drive while I work on it. In the month I've owned it I've done alot to it, new Wheels (IROC Wheels off an 86 IROC Camaro) and new tries on it, flushed and replaced all the fluids, cleaned up and painted the engine, head, intake, valve covers and Oil pan, cleaned and repainted the engine bay, and cleaned and sprayed some truck bed liner in the trunk and still haven't hit the $3000 I originally had for the price of the Belvedere. I don't regret buying the car at all, plus the people in the area dig it, I get comments all the time.
