I learned to drive in one of these, a bit older than this one. A BMW is a BMW, but a little blue Cavalier gave me my first "Look! I can drive!" moment. That's a priceless memory to me from a time in my life when I didn't have a lot to be happy about. Really, really looking forward to this one.

This is by far my favorite car that you've bought. My first car was a 91 Cavalier, blue 2 door, back in 2004. This really brings back memories. These cars are nearly non existent here in NY, the rust killed most of them off. I do see them in the junkyards from time to time. Usually they have been sitting a long time like this one. Usually they belonged to a older person who stopped driving or passed away. The nice things about the ones I see in the yards around here is that the interiors are nice. Car interiors hold up much better in our climate. I will keep a eye out for a tan interior car when I go to the yard this week.

Fantastic find !! I was heading out to the Chevy dealer in 94 to check out the Cavalier [ "for the cost of a hamburger, fries and a milkshake a day..."] to be my first new car when an 86 Olds Calais at the Century Olds used car lot in Van Nuys, CA caught my eye. I bought that car with 21,000 miles on it. It toured the family for a decade after I passed it on to my parents, then my brother and his wife and is now back with me. The reason i wanted a Cavalier was because it was cheap and looked good, especially in 2 dr form. Simple OHV engine and proven transmission. Lots of parts and service availability for long term ownership. I finally did get a Cavalier for my first new car: a 99 that I loved. A lot of people had a Cavalier as a first car. It was destroyed in a rear end collision by a BMW. I'd still have the bloody thing if it weren't for that. Your idea to return it to like new shape is great. When was the last time anyone saw one..... except in the cosmetic condition of this one. Those hubcaps are original, BTW. They peeled and faded just like that straight from the factory. And yes the do look like crap. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this car. This one hit a nerve with me too ! I love GM's FWD small cars, actually.

She always kept it in tip top shape. I definitely have so many stories and rambles about this car that I would love to tell you about. When my uncle passed away in 2009, he had a '93 Cavalier 2 door in Florida that was his winter car. It had 53,000 miles on it. When I got to Florida, as I inherited his mobile home and the Cavalier, the car had been sitting for about 18 months. I got it to crank but it would not start. Called AAA and had it towed to their garage. Diagnosis was that it needed a fuel pump. Because I was on a limited time frame and didn't know when I would get to Florida again, I didn't want to spend the money on it and then have it sit another year or possibly more before I returned. As it turned out, the tow truck driver was looking for a vehicle for a friend of his - single mother with a child - who needed a car, I ended up just giving the car to her and the tow driver said he would put a new pump in it for her. The car was really in decent shape but I had no use for it. If it had been in Maine where I live, I would have fixed it and sold it.

I'm with you, Randy. I had a 1992 Cavalier & loved it. It was great little car. As long as you're aware that you're not going to make any money on it, go for it & fix it up. I'd bet that someone who used to have one would like to buy it just for fun - if I didn't already have too many cars, I know I'd be interested. Just fix it up as close to original specs as possible - there aren't many of them left!

I smell a car giveaway to help your channel even more. Randy you have great taste in picking out cars and trucks but other times you pick out the expensive type cars. Love seeing the American classics.

My very first car was a 1989 Chevy Cavalier sedan non convertible and my brothers also! She was my great grandma Verdas car. Fricken loved that vehicle!! She was a slick maroon that me and my dad used flat car spray paint and painted her a flat black color loooked wicked when she was first done with and after it rained.. miss that car a lot, Soo many memories in it! Both me and my brother learning how to drive... I swear to god we drove it into the ground.. wish I still owned her.. I hope she still around but highly doubt it..

Randy I'm convinced the cars all sit in the yard like dogs in the pound, waiting for you to come through the gate and take them home! Fun purchase mate.

I wanted to open a dealership called Orphan Motors. Come and adopt one of my charges. They need a home. A small fee will apply.

Found this video because I love my 92 cavalier. Bought it from the second owner for 800 bucks, cleanest car I've ever come up on. Had 41k miles on it and the only issue is the falling ceiling interior. Plan to keep mine forever and swapping the engine once it dies.

YES! Total factory resto. We bought a 1994(last year of that body style) in 1995 with 22k on it. Wife drove it for 8 years then bought an 03. We handed the 94 down to 3 other family members and the last I saw it, it had 165k on it and still going strong. Red with black interior. One of the best cars we ever bought. Period.

Great content car Randy. We didn't have these in NZ but it's like so many great reliable 90s cars. Over here, the younger guys are starting to buy tidy 80s and 90s cars that they loved from their childhood. You might see an immaculate Cressida and expect an old boy to be driving, then a young guy hops out and polishes the door handle as he leaves 😊

Thats a clean old cavi. Someone loved that car and you show a love for it. Like you said its not a money maker but if its something that makes you happy its always worth it. Id love to see it fixed up. Keep up the good work

Not a fan of Cavalier's but gotta appreciate the great condition. If you're slapping on a Maaco paint job, keep it as close as you can to the original gold!

Old video I know but I'd take that Cavy in a heartbeat. Those '88-'94 Cavaliers and Sunbirds were everywhere for years still after the bodystyle change. And 1992 happens to be the year I graduated high school so I get the nostalgic angle also
