Here in Australia our native aboriginal people have used controlled fire burns for thousands of years to control wildfires caused by lightning it’s a wonderful management tool and a lot easier on you and your wonderful little tractor Kabota should be sponsoring you for all the wonderful advertising

When wisteria grows on a pergola or an arbor, it's beautiful. When it escapes and gets out of control and wraps up everything in its path with those huge vines, it looks like something out of a horror movie.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Good job on the added controlled burns! You have made so much progress! Do you have a tiller attachment for your tractor? You might lightly till where the privot sprouts and wisteria runners are growing to kill roots and underground parts of plants that may still be growing to completely kill them.

Hi Robert, just began watching your videos, great work. Get with your neighbor on that giant mother wisteria growing on his tree. If ok’d chainsaw across that vine at 12 inches from the ground then another 12” further up. Remove this middle piece and place salt on the bottom cut. The salt will be absorbed throughout the roots and eventually die. Good luck my Friend. Great videos!

That would be a waste of good pesticide, because pesticide is for killing pests like bugs. Herbicide however, now that would definitely kill out some vegetation, especially if he used the correct type.

My Dad remembers as a kid, watching some older farmers put a big log across the edge of a field and set the log on fire. Then through the night they would slowly roll the burning log across the field to kill off weed seed. That would be an interesting thing to witness.

Vast improvement over the past six months. To help with your burn use a lawn weed sprayer with diesel fuel to help burn the difficult areas. It also helps burn in the direction you want it to go and some of the vines climbing above ground. looking good.

I believe you said to wear gloves when your doing this. Where were yours? LOL I liked the control burn. I sure hope it’ll kill that nasty wisteria but I have a gut feeling it’ll come back. That stuff is tough to kill. It may kill the top but underneath it’ll start more sprouts from a piece of it. Have to remember how long this Old Byrd farm sat with no maintenance. That wisteria took off laughing all the way till you got there. ♥️😊👍🌟🌟🐶

Robert,You probably already know but you’re gonna have to kill those roots below ground. They are gonna sucker out and come back up, so now that you have the ground cleared good,go around and find the main root system and cut it and dawb it with diesel, gas oil mix, or Roundup. It will kill all the roots.

Would it be possible to burn the real thick thick part of the wysteria forest? Just make reeeaaally solid fire lines around it and just let her rip? Since they don't seem to burn that aggressively, yet it kills the plant so I reckon it would be a solid game plan to burn it, although would probably ask a couple neighbours to come help when you actually do it just so it doesn't go out of control

About once a year, I go back to the walk-a-bout that you & Cody & Brian took in January 2019 when everything was dormant & thick, to see if I can relate to the current progress & hard work you're putting in to this property.---Where is the field that held the cattle? Is that the reason for lack of wisteria??

Happy Saint Patrick's day Robbie. I just had a terrible thought that I felt I better share with you. I hope you don't have any poison oak, ivy or the vines going up any of those trees bc inhaling the smoke from that burning would definitely be bad. Kinda hard to tell right now too since much of it hasn't leafed out yet. I only thought about that bc I remember when you got poison ivy last year. Anyway always love to see you knocking things over & ripping bad stuff outta the ground. For some reason it's so satisfying 😉 I'd take some of that ash from your burn "piles", pull back the mulch about 2 ft from your peach tree bases & apply the ash all around the peach trees, then replace the mulch. They'll love that! Did ur peach blossoms make it thru the couple nights of freezing we had earlier this week? Bought to have 3 more nights below freezing again up here Sat thru Monday nights. Winter is going out like a 🦁 .. ugh!! B safe & well .. ❣️😊☮️
