would have been easier for them to just watch the tele program with elvis playing... or even lightnin hopkins or something, Broonzy, all those guys used it second nature.

Unjoyful What show are you referring to in which Elvis plays the B7 chord?
@stevo536 жыл бұрын
Unjoyful, today we have a HD large screen TV in just about every room of the house, and we can record anything we want in HD. Back then there was probably no more than one small black & white, fuzzy screen TV in each street. So you had to be nice to your privileged neighbour to see anything on TV, or stand outside the local radio & TV shop's front window. Those were the days my friend!

Try playing your g in a similar way to the c.just move top two fingers up a string.this way you won't have to take your hand off the guitar to play your g7.its tricky to play a g this way at the start,but it has a lot of benefits,

Nice.... Lennon's rhythm and especially his acoustic playing drove that band. I hope you were joking when you said that their cord changes is what set them apart from Herman's Hermits.
@westfield907 жыл бұрын
Philtration so true
@koala4dictator7 жыл бұрын
he's talking about this song specifically, Otherwise it'd just be a simple G/D/C song. The E-minor slightly sets it apart, but the genuine mood and atmosphere comes from the dissonance that the B7 entails
@elvisleeboy7 жыл бұрын
Philtration Herman's Hermits were great, but twee. The Beatles music had more substance and real emotion and that is predominantly because of John Lennon. When he sings "If this is love you've gotta give me more", he means it.
@jamesjames92757 жыл бұрын
At least Herman's Hermits had Jimmy Page. :)

When you're rocking back and forth between G and D, the D chord should include the high g note, i.e., don't take your little finger off the third fret high E string.
@jamesjames92756 жыл бұрын
I definitely hear the high E going 3 to 2, 3 to 2...
@karlkellar86146 жыл бұрын
I stated it wrong, I didn't mean to say what you're doing is wrong, I should have said you should try it the other way. I personally like playing it that way better. But I don't question that what you're doing is hat they do on the record..

@yesterdayproductions1019 Жыл бұрын
Very good except one small mistake. On the verses, John goes BACK to G BEFORE he goes to EM. Listen again to the record & you will even hear the bass do the same thing. No big deal, just wanted to point it out.
@Happiman6 ай бұрын
Not John but George plays the guitar s into, John plays harmonica.
@jamesjames92756 ай бұрын
The harmonica is an overdub, John is on acoustic for the track.
@@Happiman That's a movie, it's not actual footage of the recording session for the song. First, you can hear how the harmonica overlaps with his vocal -- obviously, that's an overdub. And in the movie scene, nobody is playing an acoustic guitar, which is clearly heard on the recording. This is so absurd it's hardly worth discussing.
