You want TRUE dread? A horror that legitimately leaves you speechless and completely traumatized. A movie that isn’t your typical horror movie because of some monster or paranormal aspect, it’s about a very real threat; a nuclear holocaust. The movie is called “Threads” it’s free on KZbin and it’s a movie that I still think about every now and again and really lasts with you from how real it feels watching it. That feeling you described of unease and tension that you KNOW something terrible is going to happen is exactly this movie in a nut shell. And once it happens the rest of the movie is nothing but pure dread because it depicts not only the bombs falling but the fallout and years after the whole planet had nuclear war, and that’s where the true horror lies

Junji Ito manga is intend to be read in silence, alone. So you could be wondering about the manga content yourself. Sometimes I found myself, double, triple read a story just to make sure I read it correctly and not imagining things because the stories is just that bizzare. Having some one narrating or reading Junji Ito work to you is just not the same

They say the greatest horror reflects a deep seeded reality that taps into a genuine fear. The concept of finding something you "belong to" and then having it warp you into that...thing strikes so close to home for most people. Really takes the fear of being lost in a sense of destiny to find nothing but abhorrent failure. I also love how the "explanation" of holes dug to torture prisoners doesn't explain the fact that they are perfectly sized for modern day people and that they have a supernatural pull to them. Doctor Who is honestly such a gem, most of the series is campy, fun adventurous stuff but occasionally it has these creepy horror things, I remember vividly the first time I saw the episode of the weeping angels, or the one where Doctor confronts literal devil in a base on the moon, or even that one where water itself is a deathly parasite in mars.
