As much as I would love to see you guys have a mainstream breaktrough, I would find it highly regrettable if your music was combined with a commercial visual adaptation of Tolkien's work. You supremely capture the feeling and depth of his literary art into your musical art. I think no tv series would do that justice.

Although it may not be one of the most popular of Tokien's poems, I think it is actually one of my favorites. Its message is something that leaps off the page into ordinary lives today, and is something we can all relate to, not just in our Middle Earth. Really beautiful piece and thank you for covering it :)

I love this one in particular because of how it draws the enchantment of Tolkien’s pen into *this creation* and emphasizes the reality that the creation *really is enchanted*, that there really is a great story being told through the medium of Reality, that our world is just as magical as the world of Middle-Earth. If there were no real giraffes and elephants, we would think them fantastical myths, creatures which boggle the mind and enchant the senses. Our cosmos is enchanted- it is a world of Adam’s sons and daughters, of celestial sapphires and worlds unnumbered, of Deep Heaven and crystal sea. Thank you so much for putting this to song.

Tolkien was a man now he's a legend and soon he shall have the legacy of a great man who brought light to everyone's life and warded off darkness. No matter how many years it has been wether it is a year from now or one hundred he will be remembered. As long as one person remembers he is still a legend. Hundreds of years from now he will be remembered and so will his books, for they bring people together in the darkens of times wether they live over sea or misty mountains from one another they will remember him as a hero of old, kindling a fire of words in there hearts young and old alike.

Kabane52, surely there is an undeniable poet's gift in you, no doubt fueled by this wonderful ode. The light shines from each gemstone of lyric colors you string before us, the truth couched ever so deftly in verse and blended, a pleasant, swirling, confluence of spiritual and earthly eddies in a stream of wondrous things seen and heard within, behind the eyes and without the ears. Tolkien was himself a sage and Wizard of the Old Order, and I firmly believe his copious gifts were not his alone, but enchant all of us who, as you so eloquently surmise, witness our own world as just as magical is that which flowed from his pen. This is the realm of enchantment, and of magic; of worlds real and imagined spun in words.

I remember my first time reading this poem. My first read of LoTR was back in a time when I despised any and all poetry simply because it was... poetry (probably because of the specific poems and the way we had to read them in school). The ones in The Hobbit were still alright to me because they were all fun and mostly short; but by the time I'd reached Fellowship, it got to the point where I dreaded any time I saw one on the next page. I remember after the long Council of Elrond, when the Fellowship was finally ready to set out to continue (or start) their quest, it first came to one last nice scene with Bilbo. I was happy... until I saw yet another poem coming up. But when I actually read it... I remember pausing afterwards, maybe smiling. I loved it from the start. Fortunately, I've since grown out of that bad phase, and have memorized several of those poems, and some of the ones I loathed most then for whatever reason are now some of my favorites; I've even become something of a poet myself along with writing other things. All thanks to J.R.R. Tolkein, his son, and their work.

School systems really need to fix their literature lessons... i never was a bookworm and instead of trying to change that, school made sure I would read like one book a year because of the awful way they encouraged it.
@TristenSarelvun4 жыл бұрын
@@notoffensivenpc8400 The way they encouraged it and, in some cases, the way they taught it. In one of my classes, we were reading The Canterbury Tales; or an "abridged" version made especially for school. One day, the class was so terrible that we were forced to read one of the tales by ourselves; I made a better grade on that test than any those the teacher taught. Even in year one of Middle School, I was apparently reading High School level stuff. I'm not sure how it got that classification; as much as I love Star Wars, none of it's really hard. Yet despite evidently being far above the grade level in terms of reading (and it wasn't because I did it often, mind you; that was my first year really reading), I still have disdain for most of what we read in school. Even now that I've written a novel (still need to figure out how to publish that) and enjoy researching some etymologies and languages, I can't stand half of what they put in front of me. They blame it on us not wanting to read or it being too hard; it's really just that they chose bad books and/or bad ways of teaching and encouraging them. Sorry for the wall of text, but I have some... strong thoughts on these things.
@notoffensivenpc84004 жыл бұрын
@@TristenSarelvun nah man same. i remember when we would be trying to find the "hidden" meaning behind every single word and how infuriating it was to me when they would say "but that is how we teach kids to read between the lines". the only thing that taught me was to take everything i read (in literature not irl) at face value until like my last two years of high school simply out of spite. also, i remember when they tried to make us read the diary of anne frank in middle school...they tried to make a boy to read the journal of a prepubescent girl just before and a bit during ww2... i have also tried to read stuff i like. i love lovecraftian horror so i bought an anthology of his book. almost 2 years later i am still not even halfway through because reading has become synonymous with a chore in my mind that is absolutely pointless. it's almost as if what they do in school is intentional... even now in university i have trouble because of what a chore reading has become for me.

The way I've always read it was a goodbye, to both Frodo and the adventuring life. Verse 1 being about his past, when he was young and ready to experience the world, Verse 2 being about the future, all the things he'll never get to experience and the recognition of his mortality/the end of his story, and Verse 3 being about accepting this is the way of the world, and expecting the return of those who are now picking up the torch.
