There's actually some subtler of cult tactics you can see here: they split you all up to isolate you, and they make you do work so you feel invested in the cult (because our brains think if we spend a lot of time on something it must've been worth it)
@alexanderthegreat1270

Good spotting, there’s also some other techniques like requesting they stay off their phones as much as possible so that you get absorbed in the cult without getting any outside information. Cults also make you call ahead before you arrive so they can team up and prepare for the insulation. There’s a lot of thought stopping and positive reinforcement going on here as well

It was a really good instinct to stay together- most cults will separate new recruits so that each recruit is surrounded only by cult members- it makes them less questioning and allows the cult to keep an eye on any trouble makers (people will free will).

Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way to Heaven. We've all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins like lying, lusting, etc. Repent and trust only in Jesus, and you will be saved! Separate you from friends and family, lots of work/study/routine to wear you down and make you tired because it's harder to think rationally like that, starting out the conversations normally and finding ways to weave their beliefs in and make it sound normal, acting nice and giving gifts, the list goes on Cults are fucking terrifying man

13:28 despite how silly this exchange between these guys is, Zahra saying that she liked them and they were nice is actually kind of scary. That's exactly how they get you. That's exactly how cultists get you to join their cult. They're hospitable and kind to make it seem like they're your friends, like they're someone you can trust. You can't. Once you trust them, you're likely to join them. Had she stayed longer I fear she may have started to get really brainwashed.

Zhara is the perfect example of why, just knowing something is a cult doesn’t perfectly prepare you to not be indoctrinated. I feel like knowing the techniques they use is also super important. Also, if anyone’s wondering the technique they were using on them is called love bombing, they essentially act like the nicest people ever while making you feel like the most important person ever and once they are able to convince you to join, they start threatening to take that love away from you as a deterrent to not leave, and usually at that point, you’ve given up so much of your stuff and destroyed so many relationships of yours that you have nowhere else to go, but the cult. And yes, I know this all sounds really obvious but remember cults always target people who are going through rough times in their lives, or people who feel lost and want somewhere to belong.

not only that but it happens slowly over the course of months or years... its aggravating to me how people cant believe that people will get brainwashed into a cult but have NO ISSUES accepting that ppl will happily stay in abusive relationships where the same tactics are used,"nice at first, "then slowly with the drip effect turn against you but by that point you already have kids, a house, car notes and all your savings tied up in your partner (they also often times cut you off from your family so you have no support network either) that leaving is almost scarier than staying, especially if they chip away at your self esteem by "proving" you cant make it on your own.

What if I should be worried? What if I'm wrong? Take a look for yourself and compare it. Common christian churches usually aren’t cults. I’d say some of the characteristics (that I know) of a cult are: They say they are or have the only way to salvation (not Jesus, the Bible, or something else, but their exclusive interpretation) and are unquestionable Everyone is way too loving towards outsiders for no reason Has a fixed and sure date for some end of the world event loosely based on some scripture Tries to lure you in with gifts, but does not offer regular friendships (cannot be friends with ‘nonbelievers’) Does not give advice, gives orders and prohibitions (specifically tries to control your personal life) You cannot ever question the leaders Really does not want you to leave of the group Working to transform earth into Heaven (not wait for the paradise to come about, wait for afterlife or something like this) (the ol’ regular christians will be sad you don’t believe the same thing as them, but will never force a belief on you) I don’t know if all of these red flags are right, but I hope it helps someone.

In Korea there are so many cults it's insane! The amount of times I've gotten stopped on the street by people who want to preach their religion to me is crazy! But one time, I let these two girls talk to me because they said they wanted to practice their English... We found out we had a lot in common and even started talking in Korean sign language which I was learning at the time! We made a group chat and hung out about once a month, where every time they'd practice a presentation for me in English and I would help them. I knew they were very religious but I still wanted to be friends with them, so I just pushed aside their 15 minutes of presentation and enjoyed the hours we spent together as friends. One day, we went out to lunch and then they asked me if I'd want to go with them to their church since it was nearby... I didn't know that they were in a cult, I thought they were just religious and wanted to practice English. I was naive and said sure, but then I couldn't get out for 3 hours. They forced me to keep watching these videos about "God the Mother" and kept trying to get me to go upstairs so I could get baptized. After 3 hours of convincing, I was able to leave after I said I'd come join them for their Sunday service that weekend. After I got on the bus, I texted my Korean boyfriend the name of the church and he IMMEDIATELY called me and scolded me. Apparently it's a very well known cult in Korea and there have been people who have gotten kidnapped and held for ransom. They especially prey on foreigners because we don't know any better and usually have no friends or family here which makes us extra vulnerable. It's easy to say that you'd never join a cult or be forced into it, but these people are very nice and have a way with their words. It still makes me sad to think about my two friends who are in that cult and who have given up everything to them. They live in apartments provided by the church and work for the church, their whole life is encompassed by this cult. The name is 하나님의교회 (Church of God) for anyone who's interested. Lots of people in this cult have also "sacrificed themselves". There's lot of documentaries online if you're interested!

There's is something deeply disturbing about how the cult so obviously is aware that Anthpo and his crew keep visiting yellow delis, and so in response the 12 Tribes members keep upping the ante in the accommodations they are offered. First a good meal, then a good meal but they are invited to come back that evening for dinner and Bible discussion, then they are invited to stay the night at a location, on the conditions that they help out around the business (which would immerse them in the cults followers.) It's super calculated,and deeply sinister to watch.

@@danielthetornado Pretty much all the main religions are effectively death cults. Every single one of them in one way or another talk about how bees knees the assumed to exist afterlife will be. Then say "Suicide bad though" to cover their bases. They all worship in one way or another bliss, nirvana, heaven, whatever and all of those are just being dead or require death in some stage to reach. People also sometimes just worship death itself. They go so far into accepting and welcoming it I think purely as a coping mechanism. I honestly wonder if most religions don't pop up due to existential crisis and subsequent delirium to try to understand the concept of nothingness, which is impossible. By existing you can't understand and not existing means you still don't understand. It is non-understandable, it's a paradox for us.

usually cults don't start abusing or hurting their members until they're deeply indoctrinated, and completely dependent on the cult

Glad you’re okay man. Side note: I feel really bad for those kids though. If you want to throw your life away on some bs, cool, enjoy your kool-aid. But don’t drag your kids into it

esp after they just admitted they had bigoted views, i really don't want to know how they would treat women- much less a woman of color- once they know you're "in" the group. lovebombing is one hell of a drug and it takes only one misjudgment to risk your life. as much as it was played as a joke, it did scare me

@@rihannaxx9610 what happens in 48 years? is that when they mass suicide or something? i dunno ive lost a whole bunch of friends from school to drugs and suicide and that just one graduating class, they didnt make it 48 years.... so there is that. also i think you should be free to kill yourself at any time for any reason. buy thats just a personal thing. dont expect everyone to agree with it. i also think it might be a bit freeing to know the exact day you were going to die 40 years beforehand, assuming something doesnt take you out first.

There is a yellow deli near my hometown in Londrina (Brazil) and I got invited to go there by my sister because she went once and thought it was a pretty nice place. We get there and the place is stunningly beautiful, the food is beyond amazing and they all looked alike, I even thought it was sort of a costume, it was kinda cute actually. After some time had pass I realized things were a little weird, I don't know what tipped me off but sudenly I began to think I was in the middle of a cult and the movie 'Get Out' came immediately to my head. The similar clothing and hair style, the over politeness, the comunal lifestyle, I don't know man it tripped me out. At some point there was even a small group of them sitting at a table talking quietly to eachother and taking notes, weeeeird shit. And now I randomly discover in a suggested youtube video that this is literally a cult that spreads over the entire fucking world and that they have a HQ a few kilometers away from my house??????? Hell naw That being said I would totally come back there for a brunch, their sunday muffin is pretty fucking good ngl
