I had no job, no bank account, no friends, no car, nothing. Truly, back against the wall with $1k in rent due in 4 days. I can't even tell you how many people preyed on me to join their team, and I'm so glad I didn't have a bank account or any access to credit because I was so vulnerable and desperate to not be homeless with my kids. Also, a person engaging in code switching is not being fake simply because you don’t expect them to speak in that way. @@tamaradavis3693 I can honestly agree with both of y’all’s answers. They’re mainly trying to make themselves sound excited and pumped up about selling their products bc in an MLM scheme like this one, when you’re trying to recruit people to work underneath you, you’re not selling the products so much as your selling the lifestyle (ex. When these ladies are posting on instagram/social media depicting their “boss babe” lives and posting pictures in new products/clothes/jewelry on vacation in a nice place in Mexico talking about how “I could never do this if I worked a corporate job” type thing). That’s just how these marketing companies get you. They sell their lifestyle to you and get you to spend an outrageous amount of money on shitty products all on the faith that “you can make this money back in less than a month” so that you’re now in debt to them for buying your starter pack and then at that point it’s either find a new job or sell this crazy amount of products that you now already spent your money on. But in the grand scheme of things what the cartoon squid said was true for this scenario as well just bc the whole concept is just stupid and these marketing people are trying to make it seem like they all have great lives and can afford to go on an expensive vacation with their families whenever they want when in reality only like 3% of people who work for these companies can actually live like that selling these products alone.

This gives me flashbacks to when a sorority aggressively pursued me to pledge and their weird love bombing was a MASSIVE turnoff. I kept telling them I wasn’t into sororities and they kept trying to pump all these things that were not up my alley as if they were the greatest thing ever and I kept thinking “oh helllllll no” the whole time YIKES. Also, as an HR professional now, if my department ever heard that this was the kind of stuff people were sharing with potential candidates (excessive personal details, crying, constantly claiming this company has saved them from unaliving themselves) I would be working on putting them on a paid leave because no normal functioning human should be acting like this in a professional environment. They act like this is a sign of dedication but in reality it’s a sign of pre-burnout and (frankly) mental abuse. What the actual f**. Also, 44 MINUTES OF JUST INTROS?! WHAT?! HOW IS THIS AN OPPORTUNITY CALL?!

I was also in an MLM that sold vacuum cleaners like the Rainbow Vaccum, and it was, to this day, the worst job I've ever had. I only worked there for maybe a month or 2 before I had to quit because I was losing money (and I was broke so, yeah). And the more I watch these, the more that I clearly remember the same tactics and abusive traits used on me and my coworkers. It's vulture culture, cultish, and so unbelievably deceitful. I felt like the fakest person alive while I was there.
@louisianabred6163 жыл бұрын
Your comment made me remember this one time when I was around 9 years old, a rainbow salesman came to our home. He gave us this wonderful demo of the vacuum and brought this crate like thing of "free gifts" like ... a couple pieces of tupperware, a keychain, maybe some other things but I distinctly remember him having a big bottle of coke in the crate.. as he was showing my mom the stuff, I unscrewed the coke to have a glass.. at that point my mom told him she wasn't interested and it was time for him to go,, the man literally SNATCHED the soda out of my hand, screwed the top back and left with all the "free gifts" lololol.... It was so rude and kinda scary!! wow!! I haven't thought of that in YEARS!! OMG LMAOOOOO!!

It’s funny that they convince these women to start recruiting immediately, when they have no idea what they’re doing. In the previous live with Andrea she specifically stated “you should join under me because I know what I’m doing, you don’t want to join under someone who has no clue what they’re doing!!”. The narrative always changes to whatever is convenient for them at the time 🙄

So I feel like I can speak on this. I had a competitor of mine contact me yesterday asking if she can call me about something about her business, confidentially. I said "Of course!" There are 3 or 4 people who are in direct competition with me (small business, in the craft industry), with whom I regularly text funny jokes, customer stories, and even ask for help with something we're stuck on. We are in direct competition. But we support each other and encourage each other when we're down, talk about our personal lives, etc. These were some of the first people I told that I am gay. So yes, you can have friendships like this in business, but it's definitely not a must, and it's definitely not genuine when it's an MLM.

Geeking out about Star Trek and going deeeeep with it on Twitter and Twitch is totally my escape from my work. And I love my work consulting with nonprofits. But it can't be ✨everything✨, and they aren't family It's scary how much MLM stuff bleeds over into regular entrepreneur spaces. The focus on personal development has become more than...actually growing a business. It's ridiculous.
