The fact that these girls are on the verge of tears when sharing how they got recruited is a prime example of the type of people this Andrea girl looks for. She pinpointed broken women, made false promises and keeps them there under the illusion that it’s vital to their confidence and self esteem. Not to mention the amount of money they’ve invested is enough to keep them going. This is disgusting.

Agreed. I have 25 years in my STEM field, and I have mentored many a young woman entering the field. They have faced challenges, some like me are “rags to riches” (first-generation college students), and they worry about work-life balance and equitable pay and all of the usual stuff - but I have NEVER heard tales of woe and trauma like I hear from these women. Why are they normalizing the idea of recruiting vulnerable people? Why are they normalizing the idea of someone’s mental health being entirely dependent on their job and “co-workers?” It’s not healthy.

The way they talk about their backs against the wall reminds me of 5 years ago when I left an abusive relationship and became a single mom with zero resources (because of control). I had no job, no bank account, no friends, no car, nothing. Truly, back against the wall with $1k in rent due in 4 days. I can't even tell you how many people preyed on me to join their team, and I'm so glad I didn't have a bank account or any access to credit because I was so vulnerable and desperate to not be homeless with my kids. It just reminds me how much they use the language vulnerable people use to try to relate to them. (PS I became a freelance content writer instead of MLMer, so I'm very fortunate it all worked out.)

@@brittanybrown8085 All humans code switch. There is a misunderstanding in America today of what “code switching” is. I do agree that we can hear inflections and naturally feel whether we believe that someone is being “fake” or not. But we should be cognizant of the fact that our own interpretation of their veracity is our own individual interpretation and may not be correct at all. Also, a person engaging in code switching is not being fake simply because you don’t expect them to speak in that way. It is naive to believe that we can look at someone and determine how they “should” speak. This is an accidentally biased and harmful point of view that many people have. I see it in my own community who looks at people darker than me and says they “should” speak Spanish.

My boss actually advised me to stay at home and look after myself, acknowledged my commitment of coming in despite not feeling very well this week and told me that my health should be my no.1 priority. They have been sooo supportive of my health condition AND I still get sick pay (which you wouldn’t in an MLM). If they’d told me to get my act together and carry on teaching my students despite literally collapsing, having chest palpitations, fever, nausea, searing pain and extreme fatigue, I would have quit there and then. 🙅🏻‍♀️ ANY job that encourages you to keep going when your body is physically (or mentally) begging you to stop and rest is 100% a red flag 🚩🚩🚩

@@tamaradavis3693 I can honestly agree with both of y’all’s answers. They’re mainly trying to make themselves sound excited and pumped up about selling their products bc in an MLM scheme like this one, when you’re trying to recruit people to work underneath you, you’re not selling the products so much as your selling the lifestyle (ex. When these ladies are posting on instagram/social media depicting their “boss babe” lives and posting pictures in new products/clothes/jewelry on vacation in a nice place in Mexico talking about how “I could never do this if I worked a corporate job” type thing). That’s just how these marketing companies get you. They sell their lifestyle to you and get you to spend an outrageous amount of money on shitty products all on the faith that “you can make this money back in less than a month” so that you’re now in debt to them for buying your starter pack and then at that point it’s either find a new job or sell this crazy amount of products that you now already spent your money on. But in the grand scheme of things what the cartoon squid said was true for this scenario as well just bc the whole concept is just stupid and these marketing people are trying to make it seem like they all have great lives and can afford to go on an expensive vacation with their families whenever they want when in reality only like 3% of people who work for these companies can actually live like that selling these products alone.

That’s a really interesting observation. I speculate it has something to do with the pandemic and the fact that people need to feel connection to others. These charismatic team leaders offer a false sense of connection which is more powerful than the group connection with the MLM. Maybe in the back of their brains these women know the company is a soulless corporation so they attach themselves to the team leader who feels like more of a real person.

I've been watching this for an hour and five minutes now. And I think when I hit my breaking point is when the gorgeous green-haired woman said she went live four days after delivering post c-section. My heart broke. I cannot imagine the place she must have been in to have felt the need to go live for the first time that soon after delivering. I'm so disgusted by how MLMs prey on such vulnerable women. That seed was planted long before that day. Instead of seeking professional help, she felt her best option was selling $5 jewelry. What the F**k?

As of this call the highest rank that is currently held by them excluding Andrea is Premier Director. According to the 2020 Income Disclosure the average bonus is $587.33 a month or $7,047.96 a year with a 35% to 45% profit on sales. A new full time (40 hr per week)Target employee makes about $31,000 a year. So a Paparazzi hun would have to sell about $53,000 worth of jewelry a year at the Premier Director level to make about $31,000.

This gives me flashbacks to when a sorority aggressively pursued me to pledge and their weird love bombing was a MASSIVE turnoff. I kept telling them I wasn’t into sororities and they kept trying to pump all these things that were not up my alley as if they were the greatest thing ever and I kept thinking “oh helllllll no” the whole time YIKES. Also, as an HR professional now, if my department ever heard that this was the kind of stuff people were sharing with potential candidates (excessive personal details, crying, constantly claiming this company has saved them from unaliving themselves) I would be working on putting them on a paid leave because no normal functioning human should be acting like this in a professional environment. They act like this is a sign of dedication but in reality it’s a sign of pre-burnout and (frankly) mental abuse. What the actual f**. Also, 44 MINUTES OF JUST INTROS?! WHAT?! I was also in an MLM that sold vacuum cleaners like the Rainbow Vaccum, and it was, to this day, the worst job I've ever had. I only worked there for maybe a month or 2 before I had to quit because I was losing money (and I was broke so, yeah). And the more I watch these, the more that I clearly remember the same tactics and abusive traits used on me and my coworkers. It's vulture culture, cultish, and so unbelievably deceitful. I felt like the fakest person alive while I was there.

So I feel like I can speak on this. I had a competitor of mine contact me yesterday asking if she can call me about something about her business, confidentially. I said "Of course!" There are 3 or 4 people who are in direct competition with me (small business, in the craft industry), with whom I regularly text funny jokes, customer stories, and even ask for help with something we're stuck on. We are in direct competition. But we support each other and encourage each other when we're down, talk about our personal lives, etc. These were some of the first people I told that I am gay. So yes, you can have friendships like this in business, but it's definitely not a must, and it's definitely not genuine when it's an MLM.
