Selling to overseas from the USA is actually safe now. Before the Global Shipping Program came into being it was just like you've described. Nowadays, with GSP, all you have to do is to ship with a carrier of your choice and fully insured to GSP center in Burlington, KY. From there on, they take over and are responsible for the rest. It is always traceable and, so far, I had no problems with using it. I sell a lot on eBay and ship overseas without hesitation. In fact, I have more buyers outside of the USA than inside. I even started to list my items so that the end of the auction would be in the evening time in Europe and Asia when people return from work and start browsing eBay there.

Living in Europe I’m very Happy with the Global Shipping Program. The market is huge and the risk on shipping is held by the carrier. By restricting your sells you’re missing out on lots of potential buyers.

Being many years with eBay, mostly as a seller, I have only 2 horror stories to tell that will require the whole youtube video, or two, to tell and 5-6 somewhat unpleasant transactions. Otherwise, I had a positive experience. One of the two terrors was caused by a buyer and the other one by eBay administration itself. The buyer had nothing to do with it. The transaction itself (selling Rolex) went totally smooth.

Conversely I will never buy from a seller who uses GSP. The reason is that out of 10 packages that I receive in the UK from outside the European Union maybe only five or six of them will attract customs charges. However with the GSP I *always* have to pay customs charges upfront and seemingly at a higher rate than is necessary. For example if I buy an antique pocket watch, the actual UK customs charge is very low for antiques but the GSP charges me the full 25%.

Nice to hear this from you, i am starter of ebay a few months...i bought watch from ebay and never sold it for 20 yrs. now i am getting old and want to pursue as seller and of course leverage the money from selling to buying . to gain experience of buy and sell vintage. it is complicated but it fun to learn and deal with bully buyer or seller. thank you so much for exchange this story

Sellers cannot leave negative feedback..and remember a buyer has 90 days to return the purchased item for any reason whatsover....the No returns tick box is worthless and should be ignored..you will even have to pay for the return for whatever reason which can be expensive if you want tracking and insured ... buying is great and you have full protection but selling can attract scammers with an expensive item...you try proving that a buyer has not received a house brick instead of the said item.. and you may have followed every rule that needs to be 100% adhered to..... Ebay/paypal will always find in favour of the buyer...but in general some great advice...
@LesterLovesWatches6 жыл бұрын
The better you document the item and its condition and your packaging of it the more likely eBay will also find in your favour as the seller. I have heard of eBay refunding both the buyer and the seller in cases where the buyer is trying to be fraudulent.
@LesterLovesWatches6 жыл бұрын
Worth noting also that from now sellers absolutely must fill out the tracking information on the listing rather than just emailing the tracking to the buyer, otherwise eBay will not lift a finger to help you in a receipt dispute situation.
@antoniolittera21546 жыл бұрын
The point of full disclosure can not be stressed enough. Asian buyers are extremely finnicky about signs of wear. If you ever use one of their own platforms like Rakuten you can see that a condition we would call ”used” with normal signs of wear on an old watch over there is described as ”junk”.

I buy a lot of stuff from eBay. I find better deals than on Amazon and I hate shopping, so it is nice to have it go to the mailbox. Marc, you forgot to mention PayPal fee's I think it is around 3.5 percent or something like that. I am not exactly sure. If you add eBay and PayPal together say for 10 grand, that is a lot of money. Good video.

@@vladtheimpaler5090 Amazon now lets just about anyone sell on there, so I noticed it taking sometimes over a month to get anything. I only bought one time from Amazon in a year and it was just AA and AAA batteries. Most stuff I find to be high and find better deals on ebay and I look where they are to make sure they are in the USA and not someplace else. I am really sorry your account got hacked. That really sucks.

Last week the top bidder on quite a cheap watch I was selling was from Italy and had 0% feedback even though he had been on eBay for three years. The alarm bells were so loud they woke up the cat and I was really hesitating what to do. However I packaged it up, sent it with tracking and a signature required and lo and behold it was an absolutely smooth transaction.

Under promise over deliver. This makes a Happy Buyer. I throw in a Small Note saying thank you and I bag up hard candies. Giving just 3 multi colored hand candies to each of mu buyers. I have a "Highest Buyer Rating on my feedback. Ship Quick!!! Buyers are excited. Even if it isnm't going out till the next morning Print your shipping label ASAP. A buyer loves getting a Tracking number 15 min after they paid. This will get you more buyer feedbacks. And it is Buyer Feedback That Matters. The Experienced ebay buyer before spending 1000+ will look at your sales history feedback. If they see didn't ship took a long time to ship,Or didn't respond to question. If your buyer messages you respond Lightning fast. This prevents their minds from wondering if you are avoiding them etc.

Excellent presentation, on several different levels (been in education for 30 yrs). The problem with my ebay background is that I most often sell English learning books to int'l clients--buyers not inclined to test their writing abilities in their target language, thus I rarely get feedback (even after 200 happy sales). At any rate, I'm about to list my mother's lightly used Rolex and your presentation was extremely informative. I hope I can turn here for advice should I encounter anything out of the ordinary. Let me ask you just this: I just had the watch repaired and "tuned" 2 months ago by an authorized dealer ($1,500). Should I go into details of that at all, or just say "recently refurbished"? And the repairs came with a 1-year factory warranty--is that void if sold? Thx again for any advice.

In my personal experience, selling on stockx is way easier, they take 13% of the sell price, same as ebay. If the watch is hyped enough stockx is a better way to sell, otherwise, eBay might be a better option.

EBay is totally geared toward the buyer in disputes. A lot of the time this allows buyers to return with spurious excuses and claims due to ‘buyers remorse’. That is frustrating especially if you have already spent the money on another item. If I can avoid EBay, I will.
