I just returned from a 10-day trip to Portugal, and I fell in love with the country. We visited Porto & Sintra, while mainly staying in Lisbon. I know there is still so much more to discover of Portugal, but honestly, I felt right at home... I am strongly considering moving there and am binge watching your videos to help keep my dream alive!

My girlfriend and I just moved to Portugal 3 months ago on a D7 visa. We are awaiting our SEF appointments. We came from the West Coast. We are loving it! Yes, I have thought what did I get myself into? The people are lovely, the food is great, and the scenery is breathtaking. Overall, it's been and will continue to be a great and fun adventure.

I grew up in Canada and was an immigrant there and when i got a family of my own we decided that we would be raising our kids in a more natural type of living, so in 2016 we moved back to Portugal. I'm so glad we did that. It has it's pros and cons but we are so much happier here. I welcome you and hope your can prosper here. Also, the problem of enormous amounts of people living without homes (people who need help) is so high that the city of San Francisco is having problems just being a city. Jersey/Portuguese residents have their own gov and well deserved! I am well aware of traditions and amazing cuisine they sell. The custards tarts Pastel de nata (home baked in own bakery) are now cheaply produced en mass in most supermarkets (not anywhere near as good quality) constantly remind me of my goal.

Something important to note is that anybody can end up rejecting the new place they move to. When people move to a new place they tend to go through 3 phases. First, the "wonder" phase, of the tourists where everything is new and exciting. Then comes the rejection phase, where you start to compare everything negatively with your original place, the culture shock phase. Finally you reach resolution, either you go full native, becoming "more roman than the romans" as the old saying goes. Or you can end up hating the place rejecting it completly. But in most cases people tend to reach an equilibrium where they accept the new place with all its virtues and defects. Best advice for anyone anywhere is to not burn all your bridges before you have stayed in the new place for a couple of years.

Hi, internet is good everywhere, Ericeira is the obvious place acording to what you ask, but for me is a tourist trap. The country is quite small, you will be almost everytime in an hour reach of a major city. In my opinion, the best places to live are Torres Vedras, Caldas da rainha, Peniche and on a budget Lourinhã. All have great surfing communities, and are still empty most of the time. Stay as a tourist the max you can, burocracy is a nightmare.

Ericeira hands down (big surf vibe, beautiful village, restaurants, lots of ex-pats), Praia do Baleal - Peniche (surf vibe, lots of ex-pats), Praia de Santa Cruz - Torres Vedras (some of the most beautiful beaches ever, lovely village, more local but with surf schools), Praia da Areia Branca - Lourinhã (it's in between other, you have to go to). You can't go wrong.

Portugal will be good for me…….cause I would be living in the farming area which I love. Far away from the big cities.

@@mariannasoares2388 kind of funny the way you think 🤔 Do u know the more people come and live in Portugal the better for the economy, we bring money and more jobs, some would buy properties, or start business all these are beneficial for you, if you think the opposite pls tell.

@@caesyanan4405 Pray tell: what jobs are these people creating? The jobs you are "creating" are menial jobs in the tourism industry. The good jobs that were created by foreign companies (like the Swedish Match) were back in the 60s and 70s, before the Socialist revolution and after the Socialist took hold of the country, those companies left and never looked back. Now we are left with the kind of people like this guy, who does not even know that most of the "islands" he is referring to, are not even Portugal any more. All he knows is he likes the food here 🙄. You are just contributing to prices skyrocketing and making it impossible for Portuguese youth to own their own houses, plus you are profiting from our public services (hospitals, roads, etc) without any real contribution. How many of you pay the taxes Portuguese people are burdened with? I could go on for hours but I do not want to bore you.

"Does Portugal even have a costco?" haha. Id prob have the same thought... Hey, curious if you brought any instruments from the states with you? Or just buy them there? I'm thinking about how I'd get my instruments and recording equipment there if we were to relocate to western Europe for a bit... Loving the channel!
