Hello dear viewer today I talk about minimalism and my poor attempt at it. Taylor says I should say "pseudo-minimalism" which I think is her nice way of saying you are a failure.

Minimalism! There's a whole Netflix documentary about it (directed by the KZbinr Matt D'Avela!). I can't pull off the pure minimalist vibe or look BUT I'm making a bit of an effort to try and slim down my clothes and keep my worldly possessions to a minimal. Maybe I'll even buy one of those minimalist nativity scenes for Christmas this year!

Last year my son and I got rid of over 8 large Glad bags full of clothes. My son is 10 and told me that he just had too much going on and needed to clean some stuff out. We spent a whole Sunday going through clothes, and I still have to do more. I want to shed even more of what I have. I’m even doing this with my watches and other collections. I’m going for a “less is more” idea. It doesn’t mean I don’t get anything or buy anything, I’m just more picky about what I do get.

Another thing to get rid of that will make you happier is social media. KZbin is the only platform I like (sometimes) and feel Instagram and Facebook is super toxic and depressing.

Your videos always amaze me for their quality to subscriber ratio, you deserve a lot more honestly. It’s nice to see a fashion channel that’s not totally 100% about fashion and a lot of times talks about the life surrounding clothes. Also uh I’m not sure if I missed where or when you’re selling these (unless you’re doing it locally) but I’d be down to buy that BROCKHAMPTON hoodie!

I understand what you mean about buying things designed to get better looking with age. Boots, leather jackets, denim, etc. Am I getting sick fades on my jeans? No, because I have 7 pairs. However I look at these purchases as a marathon, not a sprint. Eventually we'll get there and the clothing will last a decade.

I found your channel this morning because I was looking around to see other's takes on blundstones. I've been wearing them since I was like, maybe 6 or 7 years old and only recently discovered they became mega popular around 2016-2017, which is wild and cool! I'm still wearing blunnies nearly twenty years later and am happy you (and many others) love them. Quarantine and lockdown has had me thinking about my own closet and what I own a lot, and while I probably won't go full minimalist, I definitely have accrued a few large bags of clothes I'm hoping to donate when I'm able to - our province just went into its third lockdown, so... This video is helpful though, has provided some perspective!

Just found your channel from an old review of your TS Moto jacket and I've gotta say, you 100% deserve way more subs. Your style, storytelling, and video quality is on par with top tier youtubers. Keep it up and I'm sure the subs will follow, if that's your desire anyways. I know minimalism is a whole other genre on youtube that you could potentially try to branch into some that could have more viewers than clothing reviews. But please keep doing reviews when you can bc we are literally the same age and have the same exact style/closet lol.

Fun fact - each friday I am like "oh, hey, there'll be a new video from Michael today!" and I get a lil bit happier. And then I think about rivers, for some reason. Love your videos dude! Great idea! I wanna share a tradition/habit I have. Each fall and spring, I go through all of my clothes and sort them into four piles - keep, recycle, donate and sell. Then, I store away my winter or summer clothes, and go through them again (with the rest) next time. It's not that time consuming, and it helps me to keep stuff minimal.. Hopefully my lil habit gave you some inspiration! Good luck with your minimalism journey! Sounds good so far!

Basically, minimalist isn't easy. I have been downsizing for a year then I buy more stuff. At one point I had only black and blue shirts and that bored me so I bought other colors. Anyway, my goal is to have fewer but quality pieces....maybe someday :)

Grey shirts! All I wore for 20 years. People always think its the same shirt but Its a stack of them. Being pretty minimalist,I LOVE the slot pockets on the filson stuff and sewed them into a few other items. being minimalist, a pocketknife flashlight (small AA) and lighter are about half of my camp gear/ survival. they are always on me and slot pockets keep all my other pockets free from these things jumbling around in there. Functionality goes a long way for clothing design, like side entry lower shirt/ jacket pockets rather than top entry. Just a small effort towards practicality can make a simple common item stand out as a favorite.

Would love to see how this minimalist thing would go, and more cleanout VLOG, please! I used to be a minimalist-ish person back in the days before I started thrifting. Now I am just stuck with a lot of unique things (and i LOVE every single one vintage pieces I found) that I cannot get rid of. Sad and happy at the same time for my situation.

Another great video. I just went through my closets and I really was shocked by the clothing I’ve been hanging on to. Just stuff that no longer fits or hasn’t been worn in a while. Donated most of it, but it’s crazy how sentimental I can be with a garment. I think most Iron Snail subscribers can relate. Keep the videos coming!

Totally get it. From 1984 to 1988, everything I owned fit into a green duffle bag given to me by Uncle Sam. Looking back, those days of owning only the least amount of personal possessions were among my happiest. I had one pair of sneakers, maybe three t shirts and two pair of jeans and a Levis trucker jacket which I still own. I had a canon T50, a Rolex Daytona 6263 and a Hohner 532 Blues Harp in the key of C. That’s it.

Good luck. I've sadly gone the opposite way, especially this past year when I don't have to get dressed up for work anymore, so my wardrobe has reverted back to what it was when I was 15 - black band shirts with skulls on them that I order at 2am after drinking too much. A clean up is definitely in order. Congrats on getting vaxxed. My friend got the J&J vaccine and was ass out about a day afterwards with a fever but it broke pretty quickly. My appointment's tomorrow!

The Daniel Webster is the OG in my town, but the cape codder is also amazing! Hyannis, Yarmouth are their own touristy vibe (in some areas) and my area is a bit more old school historical (Mashpee, Barnstable, Sandwich)!
