Musical instruments are all about connection and none about "specs".

I felt the same way about the Les Paul Special i bought recently. Wraptail bridge and p90s. I got it for an amazing price, but didnt get to try it first. Looked great but i just didnt get a feel for it. The wrap bridge feels wierd and it isnt the most versatile. Ill be selling it to get something else. The Orville you got is a great guitar! Id make the same trade now with this Special.

Yes , I have regretted every one I’ve ever sold but sometimes things have to go . To make room for the new ones of course ! I have way too many now and need to decide which ones I will keep and sell the rest , but you still get attached . Mine are mostly inexpensive but I like them just the same . Now I’d like to have a few much nicer ones now that I know what to look for and what I prefer . That’s the trick . Take care Ewa , sorry for the misspellings earlier .

I've owned a few single pickup guitars in many variations (PRS SE One, Melody Maker humbucker, Esquire). What I think I have learned about these guitars is that they offer a very straight up "Rock" especially if it has a wrap tail bridge, which I found had a similar loud rock tone whether there was one or two pickups on the guitar. The melody maker and PRS only had one knob, but it did allow enough of a damper on the pickup to get a clean tone, but it was still a "bridge" style of clean tone. If you are someone that likes the subtly of a neck pickup or the chime of a middle position, then a single pickup guitar isn't the way to go, however if you are really looking for a very standard rock tone, a single pickup guitar can get you there very quickly.

Many times a new guitar needs some adustments to feel right. Maybe you should buy a good old one thats worn in well and feels and sounds good to play.

Yup. You learn to do it yourself too..and sometimes the guitar just needs to sit there for 6 months untouched while it gets comfortable like a new roommate. Than you get a feeling one day, pick it up, and it can be magic.oryou get rid of it than you regret not really giving it the time later

This is a good video - I've had the same experience more than once and it's always a difficult decision to make when you conclude that one you always wanted just isn't right for you. I'm glad you got a guitar you really liked, though. As ever, an interesting video - thank you.

I used tono own 1 as well and sold it for the same reasons as yours. Then I purchased a Chibson Jr, replaced everything with US parts and a nice 11K Seymour Duncan..best feel & sounding guitar I own.

sometimes it just doesnt work , no matter how much you want it too. I really want to like les pauls. I like the tones and its freakin gorgeous. I hate how it feels when Im holding it... all of them. It's such a bummer. On the other hand I connect very well with 335's

I've had comparable experiences. Earlier this year I got a 2007 Les Paul BFG and I love it. I've owned other Les Pauls down through the years but could never connect with them, always selling them on, but this one has quickly become my favourite guitar. It 'only' took me 35 years to find my ideal guitar so...never give up. There might be one out there for you.

What a nice trade! That Orville guitar is so nice and it's not 100% a Gibson Les Paul but it's pretty close and half the price. 😃
