Actually incorrect, there was a surprising amount of time where people wore full suits of armor to protect against firearms and it was quite effective. The armor looks very interesting too, because they used countless little grooves on the armor to disperse the force of the bullet.

It was the same as before both guns shoot high speed lead. Difference is one is better at mitigating air resistance thus packing more punch. As long as the shooting takes place in a long enough distance armor can work
