05:24 The Colours Black-Red-Gold as the official State flag of the GDR was written in the first constitution of the GDR in 1949. at this point both german States held claims on each other and to legitemise their government the GDR adopted this flag. Only later in the Constitution of 1968 it was written that on top of the Black-Red-Gold came the coat-of-arms of the State, Hammer, Compasses and Garland of ear.

I don't understand why the mod gives east germany cores on all former german territory east of Oder and Neiße. As far as I'm inforemed all germans living there were relocated over the 40s. The only state were a core could be argued would be the ara round Stettin, cause the german comunists had already established a german administration there when Stalin diceded to give the area to Poland.

They didn’t renounce their claims until …. 70s? I think. Or rather there was only later a declaration made that no Germany could ever claim those territories as historical homeland. It wasn’t based on people living there anymore.

Preserving sovereignty from my experience essentially stops a country making you their puppet. If a country can get more than 90% influence on you, said country gets the ability to make you their puppet for 500 political power. Found that out the hard way as south vietnam in this mod. I haven't tried it yet but it might work in reverse if you can suppress all influence, but I'll have to check

13:30 I don't think it was the focus with Poland that made you leave the faction. The real reason is probably historical: Stalin had sent 3 notes to the west regarding German reunification. In those notes he proposed that Germany should be reunified as a politically neutral state. So I think that it's the reunification event that removed you from the Cominform.

East Germany was actually very influential, they sent tons of advisers and special forces to Africa and the Middle East

And especially in the 80s their military was actually nearly on par with the west, including a sizeable air force, plus they were the second biggest economy in the warsaw pact *despite* stalin stealing everything he could see in the 40s.

@@pacivalmuller9333 reparations are a voluntary agreement between two sovereign nations. Stalin was just looting occupied territory. The DDR wasnt even founded until after the majority of the soviet genocide of eastern europe was finished, and the DDR was never even a sovereign nation

As a German language and history student, every time I hear “Nothing interesting or important happened in East Germany” makes me physically twitch 😭 The DDR is, in my opinion, the best example of the evils of attempted Marxism - take a look at what happened right after they gained administrative and governmental independence from the Soviets… EDIT: Seeing what happened to Austria and then your pronunciation of Wien killed me, bro 😭 For the future, if you’re curious, Wien -> “Veen”

Mine was pointing out that the soviet administration was not adhering to Marx's views because he was not in a position of power as they didn't care about what Marx would have thought. You could of got the polish territory for free if you had got better relations with the soviets and probably if you had spammed out 1 width divisions as i played before with that same focus tree a year ago and i got it even though i had no west germany.
