Since both of her parents died from their addiction, it is entirely possible that her addiction is not only a maladaptive coping mechanism, but also a genetic predisposition. I hope she gets the psychological support she needs, & not just judgement from people who do not understand, or who do not WANT to think about this kind of thing differently than as a character flaw.

I think the most depressing thing about re-watching this now is apparently you could get a week’s worth of food shop done for 8 pound 70 then lol. For anyone wondering: she made the equivalent of well over 52,000 pounds a year in today’s money.

You still can if you shop in the right places.

Ok, I thought she was 34ish. HOWEVER, she is gorgeous. If she's tall enough, she could be a model in the USA. Also, some spend like that because they believe they are going to buy their way up. #thevelvetloungelife

I always think that working in an image conscious industry (fashion, modelling etc) you're gonna get sucking into the 'need' for expensive stuff! You're kinda powerless to stop it

Having savings means a £1200 vet bill is "Oh no, I'm sorry puppy, let's get you better' without the 'How am I going to pay for this?'

It is not food itself that made the dogs sick, it is the fact that the food was switched abruptly. Dogs stomachs are not like peoples. To change food it has to be done slowly over time by mixing to two foods together and slowly decreasing the amount of food that you are weeding out with the new food you are introducing.

This guy needs therapy himself. I find him about as warm as a slab of ice. Would be hard to warm up and confide in a therapist like him.

i feel like he does very well with them actually. he has a very British sensibility. and also i guess you guys have never been in a therapy situation before but it is not at all appropriate for a therapist to try to hug their client during a session. crying is a common part of a therapy session and you're not supposed to start just touching the patient.

I found him irritating as well, just so completely without any personality. I've just googled him to see what kind of qualifications he has, and it turns out about a year after this episode was filmed he had a total mental breakdown. He was in a lot of emotional pain when filming this series.

It is because you changed their food over straight away when changing a dog's diet it needs to be done gradually, otherwise you get gastric issues.

Benjamin is a licensed therapist in the UK. His personal history is pretty amazing. His mother died before he was a year old. His family was wealthy and money replaced attention. He had a severe breakdown around 2008. He ultimately ended up in the US for treatment. He has five children and that was his only reason to go on living. He was able to put his family back together and has opened two clinics in the UK.

It's more to do with specifically NOT thinking about the future. To a degree they don't really want to live beyond the moment, and in some don't think they will live very long, so why not do what they want now.

Why does she only ever have the pug with her when she goes out...Doesn't she take the other dog out? I guess he must get kept in the garden all the time...I would also guess he got hit by a car cause he escaped.

i've seen the numbers for many products production costs. know what it costs to make something in china etc. almost everything you buy in a eurocentric country is priced at a minimum of 1000%-2000% more than its production cost. everything we buy usually only costs a dollar or two to make at the very most. and those things are usually the complicated products. simple stuff like nails and screws and hammers are marked up 10,000%+ of production cost lol. its insane and unsustainable. most of the lucrative aspect comes from the nearly free labor they try their hardest to always use instead of ever compensating workers fairly or adequately.

The most surprising thing about this is that 3000 dollar handbag was marked up as being 1500 pounds on the screen. Those were the days. 😬
