While I agree with you on many levels, parents who pay money monthly to their kids are not necessarily bankrupting the kids morals or taking away their sense of responsibility. The problem with the way Graham's parents give him money is it seems they do so to replace love, time and other family issues with money. They don't ask him to work or even to volunteer and just throw money at the situation without asking anything of him. My parents have been paying me a pretty nice sum of money for the last 25 years. HOWEVER, I do research for my family, and that includes for cousins and other branches of the family and its business. I'm also the family historian and photo archivist. I am expected to show them a budget , take classes on stocks, bonds and other wealth management issues, and volunteer. Unlike this guy, I could care less about impressing the neighbors and my best friend, who also has quite a decent bank amount, and I LOVE to try and get good deals like going to second hand stores, coupons and more. Sure, we go to University Club and other more elegant places once in a while, but we are just as happy at the Diner down the street or the little hole in the wall coffee shop. We also both have pretty good morals and don't do drugs, steal, hurt others or the like. So, just wanted to say that not all folks are as purposefully obtuse as this kids was in the beginning of the film. Peace!!! Thanks for sharing your observations!

I'm always so proud of the people in this series. And this one in particular. He was so open minded and willing. And it's obvious that his childhood stuff was the real cause of the breakdown with his mother which was just exacerbated by her enabling him instead of fixing that breakdown. He literally had all the card stacked against him. How many people would just keep spending their parents money if their parents just kept giving it go them and they didn't have a great relationship or level of respect for their parent. I think most people would, in that situation, take advantage. So I'm very impressed that he's made a change. And especially because he wanted to. His mom didn't put him on the show. He willingly participated. And he put in the work, literally, by actually working. Good on him.

He is a great example to other young people. It was always in him; he just needed someone to point him in the right direction. I believe this is true for many young people.

The first ten minutes I thought What a Tool... But watching it to the end I changed my mind... He's a nice, kind, generous, thoughtful young man who tried his hardest to make this work and it did change his ways. The psychology behind it all was very interesting... And thank goodness mother and son faced up to it and resolved things. I wish him all the best, he came across as lovely in the end.

It’s a nervous laugh. People tend to show various stress indicators when you’re unpacking their deepest flaws, insecurity, and entire life on national (at the time) broadcast. If it was malicious laughter, there’d be a lot less openness, progress, and actual change. He would’ve continued to sabotage his mom, and in a plethora of other ways, besides financially.

What a lot of unkind comments here! Firstly, I believe this was actually filmed around 2005, and for that time he is very stylish. Yes, he's leeched off his Mum for years, but why? Because she neglected him emotionally as a young man, and money became a replacement. He's come a long way, and should be really proud of himself. Have some compassion and understanding please people!

With all the negative comments here, very few people have actually tried to understand the roots of the fractured relationship between mother and son, and the reasons to why it came about. Rather than pick these two people’s faults apart, we should be praising the hard work they’ve put into making things right and repairing their fragile relationship. Too many of us are quick to criticise another’s faults without realising we have faults in our own relationships that have been repeatedly swept under the proverbial carpet. To bare deeply personal relationship issues on TV is not as easy as people think. Mother and son here have made remarkable progress, and have gained a much deeper love and respect for each other. Well done to both of them for getting the help they so desperately needed.❤️
