I also love how all your children help out around the homestead, hunting, butchering (!), gardening, canning, freezing, dehydrating, cleaning the home, and helping prepare meals and snacks! Your children have so many self-sufficient skills. What a blessing they will each be to their future spouses!!!!!

@@ErinM-p3w - I am sure that they are getting plenty of school time. Past videos show Sam enrolled in college courses and Sarah (in 11th grade I think) taking college courses too. Having grown up on a 40 acre farm with cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, etc. we did all the same things Ozark Family Homestead is doing and went to public school that was 45+ minutes to and 45+ minutes back by school bus. We did chores before and after school during the week and worked our butts off on the weekends. Great way to raise kids compared to how they are being raised (or not raised) these days.

It’s the BEST way to begin my day by seeing sweet Janice doing a grocery haul, however, I don’t know if this was after the live chat about the special announcement about someone in the family now on strident dietary restrictions and I believe unfortunately it’s going to blow your budget into the stratosphere. However, my dearest family, I’m praying unceasingly for y’all during this time of transition, mourning and rearranging your budget. With all the pieces of my heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️Mary Ann

Have you ever made a video tour of your root cellar, pantry, freezers, and garage food storage areas? I would love to see how you stock those. Would also like to hear how you decide how much of an item to put in storage. For example, you bought one box of taco shells - how many do you keep in your rotation? How many freezers do you have and how big are they? Obviously, I understand you are cutting back on videos for a while during your adjustment with dietary changes... Have you ever thought of just doing a Q and A session? We could submit our questions (like mine above) beforehand, and you could answer them in a livestream. I just love your good old-fashioned sense, financial-wise, homeschooling, homesteading, and just your overall sweet/kind disposition. Your channel is a blessing in my life (even though I am a single, 65-year-old, retired person). Your channel just brings so much peace and joy to my life. Also allows me to reminisce about the days when my family did many of the things you are doing now (only difference was I had three boys - BIG eaters - so went through a lot of food!) Will be interested to hear more about how your food hauls change to accommodate your family member's diet restrictions. Blessings!

For our large family, I buy Country Save laundry powder from Azure in the 40 lb bag. I use half a scoop per large load, breaking down to 9.1cents/large load. I just did all the math 😊, and these sheets are 6 cents each but they recommend 2 sheets for a large load. I almost bought some, but crunching the numbers is important. I really like the country save, and the paper bag it comes in recycles easily

I am a new subscriber and have enjoyed your videos! I heard you say that you weren’t super close to Sam’s Club, but here in our neck of northwest Missouri, I buy a 2 lb block of cheddar for $4.97. I use it in many things and usually buy 2-3 blocks per trip, then I shred a block for ease! I hate the anti-caking powder on pre-shredded cheese and it’s so delicious that way! There’s only 3 of us at home now, but I still love to shop for bargains and see what I can save every month! Thanks for all your inspiration! Good bless!

As a child growing up poor, Mom would make a hot cereal/portage out of regular corn meal. Started With pinch salt and sometimes butter in boiling water, mix cornmeal into a watery paste and pour into boiling water. It was a Maltomeal/ Cream of wheat consistency. Added syrup, honey or sugar. Was Great, very cheap

She is so precious. I went to Sams today and got quite a few good deals. 6 pack of Romaine lettuce $4.45.. 90 large black trash bags $17.98 which equals out to 20 cents each and enough for me to last at least 3 months if I take trash out daily which normally I don't. 3 pounds of tomatoes $5.38, 44 count fish sticks with a discount $11.98. They had a huge bag of clemintines $5.98..4 pounds of frozen mixed berries $10.88 or $2.72 per pound. I was at Dollar Tree today too the cashier told me their valentines day cards were 1 cents. 3 Count of Hellmans Mayonaise ( I know you all make your own but for those who don't) discounted to $11.88 for all 3. I was at Office Max today too and they had some huge markdowns.. I got the American flags that you wave larger ones 19 cents each I put them on my wrought iron porch at the holidays, face mask 3 in a pack for 3 cents then saw a pack of like 60 for 84 cents but I was checking out already. Office Max I needed those school folders that you put your papers inside online they were 35 cents each thankfully I snapshotted the picture on my phone with the price when I got to the store they were $1.29 each they honored my snapshot price I bought about 50 I think? I use them to store important documents in in my file cabinet I mark on the side and top whatever it is inside.. they don't slide out of the folders and easier for me to quickly find what I am looking for. Off topic but Medicare is refusing to pay my husbands hospital bills so I am having to dispute every charge ( he passed away last summer). So as I get responses in I have a folder for each Claim # so if I have to get my lawyer involved I have it all readily available to hand over to him. On price differences between online and store I've had this happen several times Petco also honored online prices that were cheaper than in store. Every penny counts especially in todays world. Oh I almost forgot Sams had 3 pounds of bananas for $1.28 total they were still green but they'll ripen up. Anna In Ohio

Another great video! I am in awe of the deals you can get on Honeycrisp apples, which are, hands down, our favorites also. A few months ago, our Safeway had boneless skinless chicken breast for $1.34 per pound, my best deal to date yet, so we bought 20 lbs and portioned it out in freezer bags and are still eating on those. Prayers to your family as you navigate the new dietary restrictions. Whoa!!! What a great buy on pasta - especially whole wheat! We try to get whole grain, but it is scarce in our area, and it always has a “fancy” price!!!! Eggs keep going up and down, so that’s hit and miss at all our grocery stores. We are still getting oranges from our tree, and we’re convinced this is why we haven’t had too much trouble with winter colds. Hurrah for frozen fish coming in! Yep, it’s Lent for us, so we appreciate getting fish at a pretty good price. Our son used to go fishing in Alaska, and he would ship us salmon he caught. But he no longer has time to do that, and boy, have we been missing that! Janice, you did amazing! I bet the washing sheets are pretty good, because we keep seeing them coming in to several stores, and we if they didn’t sell, they wouldn’t keep sticking them!

Hamburgerspaghetti or Lasagna, is delightful or just to have it as ground sausage. Patties or ground sausage on the side of our breakfast. Yum, yum, yum, yum yum thank you so much for that recipe! We changed nothing to your recipe for our use .. I x it by 20 to get a large batch to have on hand

Janice, I saw that you have grits and I just wanted to tell you I was raised on grits. I actually have never had them with sugar or sweetener on them. Being from North Carolina we cook them with salt and butter and sprinkle them with black pepper when they are served. We eat them wit eggs on the side. This is a staple for breakfast where I am from.

I’ve been going to Aldis since I started watching your videos. Don’t even go into Walmart . Wish we had a Tenbox. Our Aldi’s is abt 45-50 miles away. The last two times I’ve been in there haven’t found a paper add. I find u don’t want to be there after 5pm…. Crazy! Thank you.

On your gift cards maybe you can do a video on how when you’re just down to a few dollars on the gift card, how do you use up the hundred percent of the card when you were a grocery or general shopping trip? do they cashiers become confused or become a hindrance thank you
@lisaharrigan1370

You just use the gift card first and then pay the balance with cash or a credit card.

Like this week Schnucks had their pick 3 or more pay 5 bucks per item(must buy 3 minimum) so I picked up hot dogs (nathans) and 2 pork tenderloins for 5 bucks each and only those 3 items It's helpful hitting great sales

Nathan hot dogs are cheaper than that at wal-mart, $4.97 at mine and pork tenderloins are $4.91.

@@lisaharrigan1370, That's not much of a savings at Walmart but Schnucks has a reward program for every 500 points you earn that's worth a dollar that quickly adds up. I don't do a lot of shopping at Schnucks but I have a friend that occasionally shops there puts my phone number in and I currently have $94 credit

Our Kroger fuel program has a limit of 35 Gallons and up to $1.00 off per gallon per month. So even if you have thousands of points, you can only use 1,000 points for $1.00 off. The time to buy gift cards is when your groceries don't get you the full $1.00 off.

I always get $2 off each month sometimes $3.00 if I buy a lot of gift cards but getting gas 2 times per month is enough. I get my gift cards when they are four times the bonus points and a lot of gift cards I get an additional 200 points when I buy certain cards

The natural peanut butters that you need to stir--walmart brand is alright but i prefer smuckers-- are peanuts and salt. No added sugar or palm oil. So just an observation that you can find low to no sugar alternatives that are not necessarily marketed as such.

Janice thank you for your informative mind. I was thinking I was eating the right foods to help me health. It turns out it is what I don't need. Fish, eggs, nuts and garlic is something I notice I can't eat. I also have a liver disease and fluid is noticed after eating those foods. I hope I don't need fluid removed. My new doctor will be seen in April. So, when you have a prayer list, include me. I am having chicken, bananas, prune juice, elderberry/ blueberry juice and dates. I have anemia.
