Nice video mate, i used to go there for family holidays when I was a kid over 50 years ago and it's certainly changed. I've heard the people are friendly and if you are respectful to them like you were there should never be a problem wherever you go.

I worked out in this community approx 10 years ago as a student midwife and like you got told lots of negative things. I know what it’s like to be judged so thought I’d make me own decision and like you found the people Jaywick I met to be friendly, respectful and grateful and enjoyed working out there. This is a great video 🫶🏾

Jaywick isn't that bad when you consider crime, drugs and dilapidation, Blackpool is far worse. Jaywick people are generally very friendly, not so much in Blackpool and most other areas of the UK. Also, really nice sandy beaches, for the most part. However

People who live in Jaywick don’t really seem to care if it’s deprived. Tendring District Council and Essex County Council should invest more money into making Jaywick a better seaside town.

Where else could you get a beach fronted property for no money? I also went to the place to check it out. Didn't feel at all threatening.

Where ever we go in the day is very different to how it is in the evenings all over the world. In the day there are probably less crimes committed than night times. Most sea side places around the world look and feel better when the sun is shining.

Rented out a couple of properties there years ago. Nice community - but in my case the chalets was always getting trashed, copper and boiler going missing and needles chucked all over the place. When the social is paying the rent - they dont give a toss about looking after it.

Very good objective video ... Jaywick had a tv program series made about it a few years back it was on channel 5 I think in 2015. It did not show Jaywick in a good light back then .. it had a really good community spirit within its own area people looked after each other which can not be said for your every day street else where. Yes some of the people had problems drugs, drink some had mental health issues etc, but hey bonded as a group of people as I recall. I can fully understand why they do not like having cameras in there faces I would feel the same. As you said to have a property facing the sea else where it would cost you a small fortune to get that view. I would not want to be a next door neighbour where those kids lived but I guess if you live in Jaywick you don't have much say who you will get next to you as a neighbour

In the late 1920s, entrepreneur Frank Stedman bought up a section of coastal marshland, divided it into plots and sold these off to Londoners eager to build themselves a seaside getaway. Stedman, an early enthusiast of the automobile, laid out part of his new village in the shape of a car radiator, called it Brooklands after the Surrey motor racing circuit and named the streets after manufacturers. The grid of roads is like a roll call from a lost industry: Hillman, Sunbeam, Wolseley, and Austin. Today, their potholed character appears at ironic odds with Steadman’s automotive dreams.
