This video absolutely inspired me to do more. I've been riding for many years, started in my teens and now mid 40's. I mostly ride paved greenway trail for 20-40 mile clips but recently got into mountain biking after meeting a buddy on the trails. I now prefer mountain biking over greenway cycling. It's just a whole lot more fun dealing with obstacles. When you clear them, just makes you feel good after the ride!

First off, this is a GREAT Video!!! I’m turning 48 this year and have always gone for “bike rides” but this year I dusted off my 20 year old Trek and have been making a point to do more and go farther almost daily even if it just a short ride to the pond near me. I will say that thinking about your age will slow or stop you from doing things but it is definitely bullshit. Remember that a little achievement for someone else might be a huge accomplishment for you and that’s all that matters! Have fun and again, GREAT Video!!!

Sounds a bit like my story. Started riding an old Huffy when I was in my early 40s. It is a lifestyle. I started riding skateboards at 6, surfboards at 10 I am 65 now. I started racing mini bikes at 8 (a Yamaha mini-enduro), I moved to 125s at Orange County International Raceway (OCIR) Friday night and Sunday motocross and Corona Raceway. Raced Saddleback all through the 70's. Joined the Army for 6 years, then got out and moved to Riverside where there was 5 tracks. Started racing 250's at Glen Helen and De Anza (shout out to Doug Hall). I got to race the Elsinore Grand Prix before they stopped it. I once got to race in the Anaheim stadium. They left the track together after the pros raced Saturday night and the local clubs got to race the track on Sunday. Now that was fun. Now I ride a Laz-E-Boy (Yamaha V-Star 1100) and a mountain bike. The day I stop is the day I can't get up after a crash and tell them just throw dirt over me here.

I’m 43. I used to mountain bike a little in my early 20’s. I have a bike that was nice back in the day, but it’s 20+ years old now. It doesn’t have front or rear shocks. That wasn’t a big deal when I was young, but I really need shocks now. I have lower back issues. I taught my 7 year old son how to ride recently, and he’s getting very good very quickly. I got him a small mountain bike with shocks. And he’s kickin butt. Now here’s why I really need to get back into it… I grew up in Bentonville, and I still live within 20 minutes of the Bentonville trails. We have some of the best trails in the world. So I’d be dumb to not get back into it. I have a dad bod, and I’m not strong. But I don’t think it’s impossible for me to get better and more in shape. I don’t plan on doing crazy jumps or anything like that. I just want to be able to keep up with my son that will soon be better than I am at riding.

At 67, three different Doctors said 'Get moving, or stop moving!' Bought a little bicycle, started riding around the lake at a local park - and discovered the trails. Soon got a used GT Backwoods and fixed it up with hydraulic discs and a 120mm air fork, and 2 years later I'm on a custom enduro bike, and getting stronger every week. Not long after my 69th b'day I joined my 21 year-old nephew and his girl-friend on a hike to the top of Stone Mt. in Georgia, and made it to the top and back down without stopping or needing help (if you don't count my sturdy hiking stick), so it seems to be working!

A friend gave me an '85 Barracuda A2V in 2000. Was a little run down and a size too small for me but I tweaked it into shape and made do. I've always wanted to mountain bike but there was never a confluence of time and money. So, at 68 I took it up. Now at 71 I'm still doing it in spite of a few health issues. I have certain limitations on various maneuvers due primarily to a lack of mentor. Still after a couple years of it I can shred the shit out of any green trail you put me on!
@Freepowder8 ай бұрын
I now have given the Barracuda to a friend that fits it better. It's been replaced by an '02 K2 3.0, '07 Stumpjumper, '11 Cannondale trail 4. I've cleaned and lubed all of them, upgraded brakes and transmissions, saddles, pedals and bars. The Cannon got a new Rockshox fork and a dropper post. I have near as much fun working on them as riding them. The 'Cuda got the same treatment as the rest. Cheers!
