good topic to tackle. Im downsizing from M to S for my next bike as well, interesting point about lower and longer stem. A lot of flexibility workout and core workout and its fine. I really enjoy the video. Keep it up

Nice video about bike sizes. I will go down on my next bike since I am in between sizes. Less weight too and aero benefits. I can't wait for these Lun wheelset to arrive to put on my frame.

The downside to going smaller is you often end up with a slower handling bike due to slack head angles. I am 5ft7 and finally found a size small bike with a 59mm trail! Kinda wish I’d got XS for more seatpost exposed but the handling would be slower 😕
@CharlesOuimet3 жыл бұрын
Isn't a smaller bike has smaller wheelbase, so then must be more reactive to handling?
@nicknick1943 жыл бұрын
@@CharlesOuimet yeah I see what you mean, but you get wheel flop etc though with slack head angles and high trail figures. I have a 48cm Colnago C60 too that has lazy handling. Small BMC’s are even worse!
@nicknick1943 жыл бұрын
What difference did you notice?
@leflate3 жыл бұрын
This is changing! The new geometries now have more consistent trails across sizes, look at the new supersix evo: 58mm trail across all sizes except for the smallest size (44cm)! Winspace aren’t there yet though.

@@nicknick194 any chance you have linger stem or wider bars or set the handlebar higher? Lots of things can make it more "sluggish"
@ericracette97163 жыл бұрын
Dude your bike is the right size just get a longer stem like 110 to 120 with a 7 degree down angle to get you tucked with 38cm bars the one piece handle bars may look cool be very impractical and most of the time heavier than a good bar and stem combo. Also try mooving your saddle all the way back with a tilt of 3 degree to start 9 degree is uci limit to tilt your pelvis downwards to allow you to get more earo.

This XS bike is an exageration, but I think I will go for the small instead of medium. My saddle is way too forward at the moment!

@@CharlesOuimet yeh I have a bike you probably never heard of, 'Carless' it was custom built in the 80s for a local time trial legend 'Alan Roberts' his team mate Dave Hinde is probably more well known and now builds custom carbon bikes, anyway I have resto moded it. Although it is a large frame, the head angle is silly steep so the wheelbase is really short, I almost fell off riding around the car park when I was doing a slow speed turn after signing on for my first time trial a couple of month ago...... How embarrassing would that have been 😂😂😂

@UCeLKvSf_YH6xDyxuRwhW76g in an extreme aero position, there is a saying that i learnt like 2 days ago. "if you want to be comfortable you have to go fast". There was one guy that had reported numbness in his hands, he displayed his sitting position, and it was absolutely fine. Then there was this guy that said this phrase i mentioned in the beginning. If you are too lean forward you put more pressure to the hands, lower back gentlemen's soft area etc. And with my experience i can confirm that. This is why there are so many different geometries for the bikes. If you want to go longer and easier for more time you should go fora "coast to coast" bike. If you want to go fast, go for an aero bike with aggressive riding style. For example i ride a giant propel with a SQlab 612 r saddle, i picked this saddle for this position and i can ride 3 hours without any issues or pain. I think i helped you some how.. If you still have questions feel free to as. But you need to work of that position to feel comfortable, stretches training rides etc

I know you are on felt now, but how is the sizing on winspace? Im looking at a size large slc 2.0, to swap components over from a 56 BMC. The reach is the same but the stack is 15mm lower and the effective toptube is 550mm on the slc 🤔
