Hi Nora, are you going to teach us how to care for a ZZ plant in leca? Do you water from the top or just fill out the reservoir? How often do you fill up the reservoir: do you fill it up right away or leave it dry for a couple of days? What level of water do you recommend in the reservoir? How about the wicking system with leca, have you ever tried it with the ZZ? Thanks for sharing such valuable info with us. I want to switch mine to leca too ❤
@TheLecaQueen8 ай бұрын
Hello, care for ZZ plant in leca is pretty easy. I will make a video about that when I can. I keep the level of the nutrient solution very low, lower than most of my other plants. I try to always have nutrient in the reservoir at all times.

Dear, Nora! You are true Leca Queen. You made me, real hydroponics sceptic to try go LECA with just 3 videos. I was the guy with Alocasia Saga. I bought a Philodendron and there were 4 plants in 1 pot. And I had some very good leca left, so I decided to plant my Philodendron in different mediums. And I did. 5 days passed all doing well. But then I realised, that I don't have a fertilizer for hydroponics. And it's gonna cost me 41 times more then my regular one. I can't afford that. So I decided to use my regular one by leaf, and ask other Ukrainian collectors online about how they deal with it. It makes sense to me why this method is not so popular here. Also I'm very curious about how we can tell a good leca from bad. The next step is to experiment with zz. in leca
@TheLecaQueen8 ай бұрын
Hello! I am so glad you have tried leca. Sometimes you just need to do something and sort out problems as they arise. I hope you will be able to find some fertiliser closer to you. It certainly does not need to be the one I use, whatever you can find will be ok. All the best with your leca journey!

Hello Nora! Great video, really dispel some common belief that ZZ cannot live with constant access to water. Quick question (and this isn’t related to this video). I have abandoned potting soil in favor of semi hydro. But I started having fungus gnats and believe they bred in my moss pole. This is disheartening because previously I use BTS dunks in my water source and it worked. But now it doesn’t. Have you ever had this problem w your moss pole?

I purchase it from a seller here in Australia. I love it because I like the dark colour, I prefer it to the red/brown colour. I also like it because the leca particles are not round and have lots of different sizes and irregular shapes allowing the plants to attach really well. I find the plants are more stable in the pot/ In terms of function, they work like other leca.
