Interesting! I had a coworker with sister locs that showed me this method with a crochet needle. I just made it my own and it’s working so far 💚 I’m definitely going on a hunt for that book!

Started my Locks in 2000 at Cheek length on my own. I have a very Curly Non Kinky type of hair, so ppl thought i had a straw set. I also keep my hair Blonde. Bcuz i didn't know what i was Doing I colored and retwisted them Way too much Until a Rasta coworker told me to Stop retwisting my hair so in the long run the Damage i did was to my Edges mainly. I eventually did an Undercut qith with my Locks then after 18yrs I cut them all off 2018. Now I miss them and will start them again but I Now KNOW What NOT To Do. Thanks for this Demo.

I interlock and crochet locs once a year and only crochet them just a bit to kinda close up the locs. I had locs at 16 but beeswax was used, took them down big chop loc’ed up again to take those down to loc up again cut some off for a high top fade took that down during c-19 4th set loc’ed up on their own after leaving in box braids to start off but the braids undid themselves to loc up from the that. Locs get washed and watered and oiled

Honestly, I love this method. I find when I do it with less new growth it tends to pull. Were you doing it by hand or with a tool? Everyone’s hair is so different. Once you find what works best for yours it’s great! 💚

I just started my loc journey last week. I've been spraying a little of my oil mist and re twisting my hair every morning since I got my two strand twists. Am I doing it too much? Btw, great job maintaining your own locs!
@BionAvastar3000
@BionAvastar3000 Жыл бұрын
Yes. You are going to give yourself traction alopicia (premature balding from excessive tension) if you keep that up. Too much oil will make your hair dry. Embrace the fuzzy stage.

I use a leave in conditioner, not really moisturizing on the shaft and grease on the scalp. I’m from the era when we used grease; not oils. I don’t know who came up with putting all this water, oils and rose water just because we have locs. Oils and rose water causes itchiness, dryness, debris and lint on my hair. Anyways, I hope you don’t lose your shit due to my comment.✌🏽😊
