Really amazing and solid 3 videos. Honestly, I've been an unofficial follower of Jschlatt for years, but shied away from nearly all video essays related to him- So seeing you upload something made me excited. I think I've had this parasocial-esce relationship with Schlatt for a while myself, and watching your three-parter made me realize, it had to do a lot with my own self reflection and goals. I admired him, not only for his grind and how he pushed past an almost unbeatable barrier of both company and people, but how he reflected so much of my own wanting and trying to build something off of my interests. And how his post 2022 comeback to youtube almost paralleled me going back to full time work and school post quarantine. How I tried, and succeeded in a couple avenues, and even improved what I was making, not only in skill, but how I looked at it. But in the end it didn’t succeed how a 40 hour work week succeeds. Sure it’s work I hate, it's mindless, it’s horrible and draining, but it’s still “easier” in a way. Obviously one is a 40 hour work week and the other is "easy" form content, but when is a youtube comment not reaching. Its still what I think has made me so fascinated about him and this series. Again amazing video as always

I am also thinking of schlatt heavily. He has this allure to him. A charm like no other man. His success stories are amazing. I feel like I'm obsessed and i realized i never subscribed to his weekly slap channel. Dude, I feel the same way man. One of my biggest achievements, no joke, is when i showed up in a schlatt stream. That was an actual highlight of my life. I watched every fucking video man. Even little obscure jokes he has, like the deli he keeps bringing up. I'm beyond a stan at this point bro. I live and breathe this man.
@mattylacroix0745Ай бұрын
To answer the question at the end of this video, I would definitely say schlatt. I have watched a plethora of KZbinrs over my life such ass ssundee, dantdm and a whole bunch more from my younger years but no one has stayed in my mind more than schlatt. I have watched pewdiepie, markiplier and jacksepcticeye for much longer than schlatt but I've always been inconsistent with them, with schlatt tho I've been watching his videos with much less of an inconsistency. I have been watching schlatt since his first sleep deprived video and that was 7 years ago, I'm 16. To put that into perspective that's almost 50% of my life observing this man and his work. Wow. He is a very interesting character and person overall but he has influenced so much of me, I even look like schlatt in some ways. My pfp is a picture of me when I was 9, that picture was taken a little before I started watching this guy. That's some stuff to think about for sure.

youre really onto something about thinking a lot about the entertainment you watch being more important than the entertainment itself. if we didnt do that, we would be mindless zombies, consuming without connecting the reasons why we even like the content in the first place. though, yeah, it can get to a point where we overthink and we forget about ourselves. i remember back when carson was cancelled, i was obsessed with worrying about how he was doing and handling it. and it was because he and the rest of lunch club helped me feel better throughout 2020. theres this emotional connection, and care, that is hard to avoid when it becomes that important to you, and when its a means to survive and keep going past the hardships. but its better for us to focus on ourselves, *ESPECIALLY* if its someone you dont truly know or have an actual connection with. they will be fine. all we can do is support and enjoy what they do

Dude we are so similar. I’m a little older than you, closer to Schlatt’s age, I started watching around the same time, kept up with the same things. Used him as a measure to my success on KZbin, a stand-in for my wildest dreams, and a representation of what I have to live up to in the KZbin space. Even the schadenfreude-esque slight hope for his failure that you can’t quite shake. You’ve captured a lot of my feelings in this installment, especially in that closing letter, that was peak

Jschlatt is unironically a bit of a psychopath but he's also very entertaining. But I feel like this video series projects a ton, as Jschlatt clearly just wants to make the most amount of money he can, as he admits quite openly. From the beginning, he copied more successful KZbinrs, and he has jumped at every opportunity to promote himself and his brand/s. He is able to find success through his character, but he is ultimately motivated by money. His constitution helps his allure, as the line is blurred between what is a character and what is genuinely him. But what I respect about him is that he at least wants to make content that he can take some sort of pride in. Beyond how funny he is, the more high production content he makes has genuine artistic quality. I also like how open he is about his intentions.

As per the comment at the very end of this vid, I gotta say if I had to pick out any youtube personalities that have really inspired me and I can say have influenced me greatly it would be Gavin Free and Michael Jones. Both of these guys from the now defunct Achievement Hunter seriously made me realize not just my sense of humor but also the sort of friendships I strive for. Since Achievement Hunter disbanded I haven't seen much of what these 2 creators have been up to except for seeing Gavin on Slo-mo guys but besides being a really great comedic duo they clearly are good friends. Both of these guys remind me of myself in various ways and just seeing and hearing them talk about random bullshit in videos; totally unrelated to anything they'd be playing, it made me realize that although I'm 18 and I'm at a lot of branching paths right now with what I want to become of myself, whatever paths I go down I want to make connections with people that I can 100% say are meaningful and remind me of who I was when I was 12 and first saw two bros like Michael and Gavin goofing around like idiots.

I think this series represents something that I've heard from Jacob Collier, only paraphrasing, but "When you consume media, you look for parts of yourself in the content." Having attachments to youtubers happens if you can relate to them on some deep degree. Anyways poor transition to the next topic. I've always tried to be an entertainer, a person who wanted to make other people laugh or interested, feel bewildered or confused. Its like a void that I have been trying to constantly fulfill by communicating to others, I truly believe I play a character depending on the person that I talk to, a sort of "optimization" in order to make something entertaining of the conversation. This connects to my desire to be a youtuber, I've deadass been watching youtubers since I was single digits old. I think the framework of making something to entertain others has had a legit permanent effect on me, but I wouldn't change it. It has allowed me to discover passions I would've never had the privilege to experience otherwise. Thats all to say that this video series is one of my most favorite I've ever watched because I saw myself in them. Thank you
@MYGАй бұрын
Great series, for me Sips and Norm Macdonald, both some of Schlatt's biggest inspirations are some of mine. Grew up watching Sips, and aged into watching Norm before he passed. Would love to make videos on those two some day. I think Sips especially hasn't received the flowers he deserves.

To the question at the end, I feel like one of the creators who have inspired me most has been schlatt. I don't create content, nor do I want to, but he's influenced me in other ways. Mostly in the way he creates/keeps things for himself, specifically like how he's saving memories. He's talked about (on chuckle sandwich) how he thinks home videos shouldn't be taken on a phone, and how he has old cameras that he saves his memories with on old tapes, and it resonated with me a lot. My dad was always into photography and had an old Sony camcorder that we had an adapter to play the tapes with a VHS. I for years now have carried an old point and shoot film camera with me basically everywhere I go, and more recently I bought a cheapo old camcorder and started making my own home video style vlogs that I keep just for me and my friends. Even in older videos he was in, schlatt always seemed to have some little camera or disposable camera with him, and it's that like mentality of his that inspired me to use my cameras more and keep physical memories that exist outside of my phone. Idk if this makes any sense, but yeah.

A creator that has influenced me in recent years is a creator know as John Rizzo, used to just be Rizzo666 I'd say some of his older content falls into that edgy call of duty content with stupid exiting And he slowly evolved into a more positive kinda guy The way he inspired me is by making me more open to try games or maps that aren't the kinds i would go out of my way to play He made me realize that i really enjoy the zombie modes of COD WW2, Infinitie Warfare, Black Ops 4, and even Vangaurd This was all during a time where the zombies community was at an all time "it's so over" slump where no one was really giving the mode the time of day and I just know that if I continue to stay postive about something I know others despise, I'll come to get my own enjoyment out of it

39:51 Jenna marbles. I’m the same age as u so I also grew up w the same entrainment as well. However, it was my mom that decided one day randomly in like 2010 to play ‘How to trick people into thinking you’re good looking’. I’m not sure how or y but I was j fascinated and wanted to j keep watching Jenna. Years later when I was probably in 3rd grade her name suddenly was a thought I had and sure enough she was uploading. It would b from that point on I’d watch her every Wednesday. From grade, middle, high school, moving to a new state, transferring to two more high schools, then the pandemic… when cancel culture was so bored they made her leave the internet. She truly was her own genre of entertainment. Watching her and seeing the fun she had made me realize I can b myself n not have to ever worry abt the opinions of others. I think abt her maybe j as much as u think abt Schlatt. The day schlatt talked abt potentially retiring from KZbin I was almost enraged, confused, and scared. W Jenna marbles it came out of no where n there wasn’t anytime for anyone to accept her decision to leave the internet forever. But now that the thought of Schlatt, one of the current KZbinrs I watch saying he might b out as well? It’s still in my mind that one day he’ll j say the final goodbye but also I’d support his choice either way.

AlfaOxtrot has an editing that I've been directly copying, his videos have a level of authenticity and passion for youtube. They always make me connect to his style more than most. Then we get to him as a person, I've looked at his old archived channel that he worked so incredibly hard on just to never get it off the ground, only to find success on tiktok, then transitioning back to youtube in a successful way that he enjoyed. Something about people going through your situation and succeeding makes you attach to them, almost like you are them in a metaphorical sense. Your brain has a level of identity with the person of fixation. Anyways great video
