The language she is singing in came to her after the birth of her first child. I believe it is the human language. The one that we all understand before we are born and right after we are born, and before we are enculturated by our parents. That is why this makes us cry. It's the language of all of us, that we have forgotten, but not completely. It is familiar.

Lisa Gerard has a gift from God. This is not normal. Her singing, not only her voice, her whole singing is not humanely possible man. It' s not normal nor achievable by training. She is a miracle. You can feel her soul. You can not conceive it. The human brain can not conceive it.

me too. The more I hear this, the more it rips me up (in a nice way). Been a fan since discovering Dead Can Dance on the 4AD label in the 80s. Please react to her singing on 6th June 2017 in Sofia with the Mystery of Bulgarian Voices. Before I knew her in the 80s, my favourite music was Klaus Schulze's 70s analogue electronic music (RIP Klaus), whom she also worked with in later years. Hans is a very canny lad.

If aliens came to earth and said that human kind are a stupid, warlike plague with no redeeming features and they were going to wipe us out so we don't contaminate the rest of the cosmos, then said we have to come up with a single good reason to keep us alive. I'd play them Sacrifice by Lisa Gerrard. I truly believe it's the most beautiful thing ever made by a human being.

I've listened to Lisa since the 80's, and I have the same reaction to almost everything she sings. Her voice pierces through like no other singer. I have to be prepared for this music; I have to listen to it alone because I know the tears will flow before I hit the start button. It's not sadness that I feel; it's an intense emotion that I cannot put into words. I'm an atheist and have no reason to believe in the supernatural, but the sound of Lisa's voice feels "otherworldly." I love her.

i m french and excuse me for my bad english , I am a big fan of Lisa and Dead can dance ( her band ) , I saw her so many time with DCD and alone , every time I am in the angels , just one point , one time time I saw here in a small place ' 400 people) and i was looking the stage with Lisa and her musicians , and I saw , just behind her a big board of effect and i discovered , Lisa use a lot of effect ' compressor , reverb , delays , and maybe others ) all the singer do that , in lyrical classic also , I say that for the vocalists who works a lot and think , they 'll never get a professionnal voice , remember , effect make a lot of difference , but Lisa stay an angel , with and without effect

I've been listening to Dead Can Dance for decades and both she and Brendan are amazing vocalists. The song "The Host of Seraphim" makes you feel like you're standing on a mountain watching the sun rise, as does "Circumradiant Dawn." Then, for contrast: "Frontier." : ) It's clear why Diana Ankudinova reminds me of her.
