Oh wow, thinking about proposing. Take it from someone about 15 years older than you, and married for 10 of those: there’s really no rush. If you end up marrying her, fabulous. I’m not saying you need to date anyone else, particularly, or do anything crazy, but unless you’ve already been dating her for like 5 years AND have successfully navigated challenging life circumstances, there’s zero reason to get married under 25 (caveat being strongly held religious convictions, but watch out for those-they can lead to a world of unhappiness and pain). And enjoy being young and unmarried-it’s gone in a flash. Perspective as a married mother of 2 that I wish I could’ve shared with my younger self.

As a language tutor, I don’t think people realize how common it actually is for someone’s perceived level of fluency to change significantly in the first class. Most people are nervous talking to a new person and it’s natural to make basic mistakes you normally wouldn’t and stick to safer, simpler sentences until you loosen up and throughout the course of the class let your guard down and speak much more fluently. Also many C1 students do take classes with tutors simply as a way to maintain conversation with a native everyday ☺️

@@OGCJ10 It’s a level of fluency of the CEFR fluency scale which is the most common system in the US and Europe. C1 is considered the most advanced you can reach without being a native speaker which would be C2. Beginners are considered A1-A2 and Intermediate speakers fall between B1-B2. :)

Al inicio pensé que era que no les enseñaban y alguna vez los llegué a criticar pero ahora teniendo 2 hijos 1 si habla español porque vivió hasta los 4 años en Colombia pero el segundo nació en Canada y por más que en casa solo hablamos español e italiano ( mi esposo es italiano y el me habla en italiano y yo contesto en español) mi hijo menor habla inglés que parece que su lengua madre fuese el ingles cuando yo solo le hablo en español (vivimos en Canada) Recién va a comenzar la escuela este año y él ya lee, habla y escribe en ingles

Many people speak Spanish in California, even without going to school. My brother in law speaks Spanish like a native just speaking with Latin co workers. When he went to Ecuador it took him some months to adjust to the local Spanish and slang. Most people didn’t even know where he was from. Most people just got so confused.

@@yassine3978 In a broad sense yes for Castilian Spanish. There are obviously differences between all the Spanish speaking countries but in general its the same spanish. A Spaniard who speaks Castilian can understand a person from any of the Latin American countries and vice versa. Similar to Britain, Australia, and the US, some differences but in general the same. La respuesta a la pregunta de la profesora "¿Qué tanto sabes/entiendes español?" es muy relativa. Incluso cuando el alumno sea de nivel intermedio o avanzado, ¿cómo podría contestar a esa pregunta? ¿Bien, mal, regular, muy bien, con porcentajes? Considero que, si es la primera vez, pueda hacerle una evaluación oral bastante completa, pero lo más rápida posible con un listado de preguntas que le hagan producir al alumno la función de ciertos ítems funcional-gramaticales.
