I gotta tell you, your videos have really helped me learning Japanese with cultural context. The very first time I tried out my language skills on an actual Japanese person, as you have said, the first thing out of her mouth was "oh, your Japanese is so good!" Then I remembered your warning: "she doesn't really mean it, she's just being polite". So I waved the compliment off with a "zenzen", and everyone in the room lit up, laughed, and I was able to comfortably speak to them, and them to me. After assuring me that they really did, in fact, think my Japanese was pretty good for a gaijin baka, lol.

This is a perfectly quintessential video to show someone why Chris' videos are so good. Your videos are so, so very wholesome, 10/10 of pure goodness. Thank you. Thank you also for these chill conversations with the locals. Nothing fancy, and it's best this way. Much respect!

I'd love to see if Japan had a Spiders Matsuri to see if Chris's love for festivals could overpower his fear of spiders.

Another great Ep boys!! That school : 😳 On my very first trip over in 2003 I had to battle a huntsman in the middle of the night. Couldn’t sleep until I’d disposed of it. Also really good to hear you leaning into speaking Japanese chris! I was starting to worry that you’d maybe insulated yourself with so many English speaking folks that you’d end up never speaking Japanese. Well done!

This is the kind of content I enjoy most - not to say the others aren't fun for a change but I enjoy seeing different parts of Japan a lot more than, say, luxury yachts and apartments :) This is my personal preference and not intended to offend anyone!
