My heart goes out to the people who died and hundreds who were injured or lost their property because of the storm. My philosophy is to always see the bright side, this is why I make light of the situation. I didn't choose to witness a hurricane. I was just there when it happened and this is my story.

Many of the old streets had massive African Mahogany trees(Khaya senegalensis) planted in the footpaths. Original French plantings over 100 years ago. I saw them more than 20 years ago. The footpaths, roads and buildings would have been at great risk if those trees were to move. Given the wind, I expect many have gone.

your nonchalance, and disregard for personal safety just goes to prove that as a human race we should let natural selection take its course.... Did you actually study the weather patterns in the pacific, and then realise that there have only been 3 catagory 3 super typhoons to make land in northern vietnam since 1943? My family is in Hai Phong, and we have suffered terribly despite being well prepared for this.... people have lost their lives, and yet you make light of it by getting drunk in a hostel...... this thyphoon may have weakened when it passed Hanoi, but that just means that it has dumped all its energy and rain in the highlands causing landslides and loss of roads and tarnsportation.... All of that water is going to flow back down through the delta to the sea with a vengance, so I hope you are prepared for that..... loss of roads and transportation, crops ruined, shops and markets already emptied of food will not get replenished, but at least you can get fries at the hostel eh? how about making a video where you go out on the streets and help the local communities get back on their feet!
