Nice swap! I’m a PSA tech so there’s some stuff to look out for on these. The most common is the temp sensor which causes the fluctuations in temp, the thermostats also do go. There’s also a thermistor pack in the radiator that can go but it’s normally overheating by then. The rocker cover is prone to leaking but a rocker cover gasket is peanuts and an hours job. Drop links are common on basically all Peugeots😂 and timing belts on all Peugeots are hit and miss if they haven’t been done. Other than that they’re sound really, the GTI’s are a lot nicer than most and feel slightly more robust, so I’m sure it’ll be great! The engine is also used in the R56 Minis and the DS3 sports. Get it fully serviced before doing any mods or changes to it for sure, that coolant should also be vivid blue, so that’s needs sorting. That engine oil cap also has been put on backwards and snapped the two little plastic tabs on the inside of the cap.

Also 208 had silly designed with battery secured they had hidden tab, sadly some people yanks too hard and snapped clip.

I do think there is a danger you will be drawn to cars you like rather than cars that will be a good deal. Modding it is not the way to go, I would definitely get it serviced and sorted for the next owner and move on to a more profitable project as there doesn't seem to be much scope for profitable improvement with this one. Great series so far but I dont fancy spending the next 4-5 years waiting for you to achieve your dream when you could probably do it in much less time.

I think if he had got the Maserati then he pretty much would've reached his goal of the series minus the price tag. I know that's more of a GT than supercar, but it's basically an exotic manufacturer and a v8 that puts out close or above 400hp I believe. Don't know how long he plans to stretch the series out, but if he can reach an old V8 R8 or something like a ferrari 360 within the 30k-60k then the 150k target should be irrelevant and move on from the series.

In regards to the temparture fluctuating it'll be the external temp sensor which is in the passenger wing mirror, it's common for there to be wiring chafe inside the door card, take the passenger door card off and check the wiring from the door jam to the wing mirror 👍 (if the wiring looks ok then replace the temp sensor in the wing mirror)

Them Peugeots have really bad engines. They have a wet belt and if it snaps or parishes the oil pump picks up all the little pieces and then it seizes the engine.

Good choice avoiding the S5 and Ibiza, but speaking of timing chain issues 😅 That 1.6 is known to have a chocolate chain and chain tensioners. Definitely worth getting that inspected before you swap it on

These earlier engines are known for their timing chains stretching Aswell especially if not well serviced, so keep a listen/ eye out for that too , but I love these cars

Nice one! We’ve rebuilt a few of these properly fun little cars and something different, shame about the engine as they aren’t the best but they also aren’t the worst either. I say don’t bother modding it let the next owner have that experience themselves considering it’s going to be their car, just fix, do a good service (oil, filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, maybe sparks too) and get it out the door onto the next one! That gives you next videos content and makes the car a lot more appealing to the next person, end of the day not everyone wants a car with a driveway map on I won’t touch them I only go custom maps and I wouldn’t map those engines without supporting mods either.

These sound awesome with a full stainless 2.7” exhaust from the down pipe back with a nice single tip back just one very small silencer at the rear and they sound nuts 😅 get some pops and bangs added in on the overrun when it’s mapped

I had one of these when they first came out! Had the camshaft sensor changed twice.. also they limit torque in first and second gear Takes me back watching this 😂😂 Good swap imo always going to be young lads looking hatchbacks should be able to swap it out quite fast!

The fluctuating temp will be the external coolant temp sensor on the thermostat, had the same on my mini a month ago.

I had one of the first thp engines in a 207 gt I bought back in 2008. A year old and needed a new engine. Fortunately covered under warranty. Hopefully the newer ones are more reliable.

Nice swap mate! Having had a fair few French hot hatches in the past I’d say definitely fed before modify 😅 or service before modify I should say. If it hasn’t had a service for a while the defo do that before you go putting more power through it. Other than that that looks like a sweet deal

How can you start making bigger strides with the swaps? At this rate, you’ve done 5 cars and are barely scratching £5k in value. You’re averaging 2.6 uploads per car and about £1000 in accrued value per swap. Unless you can start making bigger/riskier swaps, it’s going to take you another 379 weekly uploads and 140 more cars to get to £150k. See you in about 7 years for the final car.

Outside temperature sensor is in the wing mirror on these and its common for it to be the wiring or someone replace the wing mirror with an aftermarket one
