Just to give some clarity, when an Acapella group is as large as the Treblemakers are, not everyone needs to be singing at the same time. Additionally, most larger acapella groups have one or two, maybe three, main/lead vocals with the others making up the voices that create the various instruments and the percussions and bass lines. Not all acapella songs require full blown singing harmonies with everyone involved and that’s actually one of the main differences from generic boy/girl groups where all the members have some line at some point in a song. Beatboxers/percussion and bass line singers rarely have solos but they are the literal backbone to the group

yes it's also good to point out that the fact that not all of them have mics is on purpose. The mics are only to make sure that the soloist is heard, as the rest of the group are singing out and should mainly be heard without the mics due to the acoustics and set up of the space

The "original" song they sing in the movie is Flashlight by Jessie J, they actually do a couple of Jessie J songs like Price Tag. But in the context of the movie Emily (Hailey Steinfeld) writes this song and when she was put on the spot during the riff off her brain broke for a second and she just defaulted to the first song she could think of. And on another note, I agree, I would give anything for a Bellas/Anna Kendrick cover of Before He Cheats.

The just the way you are song gives chills because it's SUPPOSED to. In the film, at that point, their group completely fell apart. For lots of reasons but a huge part was creative difference- the blonde refused to let anyone have creative say. And so this was the moment when she let go, let Anna take over for a trial, and when she comes in with a new song, it's literally one of the moments the whole film has built to because it's the official moment that she gives in and realizes how powerful something different than her own way is. (Ie each of the bellas and their idnividual dreams are just as beautiful just the way they are)

Lol. The entire tone of the Pitch Perfect 2 riff off is a parody vibe. They're totally poking fun at the first movie and the individual characters while still being awesome. And the Green Bay Packers (famous american football players) ASKED to be in the movie because they liked the first one so much lol. So their role was comedic on purpose. And Bumper (Adam Devine's character) left the last movie to sing back up for John Mayer and skipped out on the final, so that was a deliberate call back haha. John Mayer is a famous singer-song writer, but arguably more famous for dating like EVERY young female celebrity around for quite awhile.

So excited you did another Pitch Perfect video (and hoping for a third 👀), but...outside of these movies you should also check out songs from the TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Don't let the title put you off, it's an incredible show and while you should also just...watch the whole thing, I think just starting off with listening to some songs would be incredible. Just some absolute bangers. And some...that are also wild in and out of context, but still slap. There are a lot of great ones so I'll just list a few of my personal faves (warning some of these titles are...well you'll see): You Stupid B*tch, Getting Bi', Face Your Fears, Let's Have Intercourse, I Gave You A UTI, I'm A Good Person, A Boy Band Made Up of Four Joshes, (if you wanna see more of the lead guy from the Treblemakers Skylar Astin HE has a great song) I Hate Everything But You, and I'll end it with Women Gotta Stick Together. The one song where the generations of Bellas come in at the end, makes me fucking cry every time. Just the beginning with the now, the Bellas the ones now active and at the forefront. Capturing the moment, the now, the present, the harmonies and then the past coming in with the generations of Bellas, harmonizing together like a big family, like history on your screen, lives, loss, community and unity. All singing the song of the new generation of Bella, and to make that the point closing the light on everyone but her, the youngest, newest, the future. God fucking dammit I'm crying again. I really think our ears and musical taste sometimes has a preference! There are male singers I really love, but on a whole, I definitely have a preference towards female vocals. There's obviously exceptions, and a few ranges between, but all of my favorite vocalists are women. My sister is the opposite and really always prefers male vocalists. Weird how stuff like that happens! I love the Trebelmakers, but I'm with you - I just enjoy the Bellas more. Not because they are necessarily better, just my internal bias at work!
