@@kellylorang6845 I'm Only Speaking of the "Honorable" ones, but years ago, before "Cams" and Cell phone video, Some officers would stop you, give you a verbal warning, send you on your way, and Never write it up. For example, a DUI stop, driver was asked to exit the vehicle, the cop took the keys and locked them in the vehicle. Drove the guy home or called him a cab, and told him to Come back in the morning, or get someone else to pick up your car. No charges, no criminal record, No longer a threat to public safety, No harm done. With EVERY WORD and Action DOCUMENTED, The Police have no choice but to follow procedure. A few Bad Cops, and a large majority of Self Entitled members of the General public, who refuse to own up to their actions have brought us to this. No officer is going to risk his or her livelyhood , to cut someone a break. Its actually kind of sad.

Usually, the courts are far too lenient when it comes to crimes devoid of physical or financial repercussions (since he did not lose his job or face any disciplinary action, it in essence became a victimless crime). In this instance, I would agree with the previous two commenters in that the punishment was more than just. She’s going to be saddled with a felony for the rest of her life, she can’t work in her chosen industry for a minimum of two years (and possibly beyond, as she will struggle to be considered for a position once the employer becomes aware of her past behavior), and she’ll have to deal with the fallout of her court appearance being shown on national television. For once, I actually believe our legal system got it right.

She apologized and seemed genuinely ashamed of what she did. It's very doubtful that she has done this before. What's so beta about showing some grace to someone who has learned their lesson? Fill in the blank PRIVILEGE is a load of crap. Living a successful life is all about choices and effort and has virtually no bearing on gender or race. A lot of police departments are underfunded, and have to pay for ammunition and damages to their car out of their own pay checks. Not against them, but some police departments, although they have cameras on their cars, can’t afford them.

Amen, and they should ALWAYS BE SUED once the truth is proven. Even if you get a settlement that the person can't possibly ever pay off, it's important for other reasons. Sometimes there are longer lasting consequences for civil litigation than for criminal conviction. Imagine having to pay someone $400 each month for the rest of your life. That's like making a perpetual car payment for someone else. Compared to two years of probation and some community service, that's got to sting like a bitch, am I right?
