The Presbyterian Church in this local area is really responsible for dumping a ton of responsibility with unearned authority on this dishonest woman. This is where good, consistent supervision is required in order for church organizations to do well financially. Who was responsible for this woman??? Come on, folks. 1) guaranteed never to secure employment to generate funds towards paying anyone back with a prison record. 2) while her guilt is her guilt, the church had zero governance and the board should be sacked as their lack of controls facilitated the fraud. 3) employed under qualified staff, had no controls, no supervision….. very surprised insurance company paying out. 4) church on notice that the she was under financial pressure and still no governance/controls. Not outrageous - it's fair. If you commit grant theft, you get to spend a lengthy time in prison and you have to pay restitution. Who else do you think should pay back the money stolen?
