Okay, so -5 bar is sufficient to vacuum seal a mason jar for food preservation. You have to understand that the mason jars are intended to be filled all the way up to just below the rim, so there's very little air to begin with remaining in the jar when you preserve food. The intended purpose of this vacuum sealer is to remove a very small volume of air, and you're doing tests with a relatively much higher volume in comparison to the intended use.

Tyler ruined a pricless piece of art with the Bissel. The marshmallow first expands under vacuum as its internalized atmosphere escapes, and then shrinks again. Releasing the vacuum allows the air pressure to further compress the marshmallow. Fun experiment.

So from what I know about canning and vacuum sealing food. That device isnt really meant for 'long term' or permanent storage like you would use for preserving food. Its made more for making your food last a little longer than normal. Its basically a 'vacuum sealer' but for Jars. As long as you know that before using it, its a pretty good product. Just dont expect what you put in it to last for years. Just Months.
@notreallydaedalus
@notreallydaedalus 6 ай бұрын
It helps in a couple ways. First, it seals the jar, keeping humidity and oxygen out. A little O2 in a jar won't do much, but a free exchange of air will provide enough O2 over time to let things go stale/rancid. Any sealed container does this, but a jar is very good at maintaining the seal over a long time. Reducing the amount of air inside is a small but real improvement over typical Tupperware.

If I'm not mistaken it's the boiling process that makes the canning last so long as it kills off all the bacteria and the sealing process is to confirm it's sealed.
@vensakarakorwien5768
@vensakarakorwien5768 5 ай бұрын
both. Boiling will kill the bacteria that are there, but the seal will prevent any new bacteria entering. Technically that old boiling technique is also there to help with vacuum, as bottles are closed right after they are filled and then they should be slowly cooled down (to prevent glass shattering). So that cooling down of the liquid part will make the weak vacuum and finish off the proper sealing process (the covers will slightly bend inwards).

Also don't add too much cleaner it leaves a residue if you dont rinse properly, so rinse with plain water a few times until you get most of the water up. Make sure you rinse out the dirty water container and let everything airdry before putting it away.

The reason the vacuum sealer doesn't pull a full vacuum is pretty simple, and you'll see why if you put water in there. If you put water in a full vacuum, it will boil - until enough vapor has been created to bring the boiling point of water high enough again (i.e. it will increase the pressure). With mostly liquid in there, creating a full vacuum is impossible. The liquid will just keep evaporating to keep it at an equilibrium anyway.

That digging tool is meant for gardens for planting bulbs etc, not drilling through grass, but softer garden soil. It is dumb, you can buy just an auger and a battery powered drill and do the same thing. I suppose if you don’t own a drill and not a handy person, buying an all in one unit might make sense. When planting bulbs you can have a lot of small holes to drill, you can get package of bulbs with 75 or more bulbs so an auger can be very handy.

On the box it says track maintenance, camp site and whatever it says about fire pits. If it's just for flower beds, it shouldn't promise all that stuff.

So how much vacuum do you get when you do the traditional boil canning method. Easy to test with the gauge

Every video, there’s bound to be at least one comment that calls tyler out for not reading instructions but when you think about it, unless you need to build it and it’s simple afterwards, you shouldn’t really need instructions. If I personally had 15 steps of setup before each use of the product, I’m not gonna use it after the first week or two. Keep up the good work tyler, you’re doing alright

Tyler, they call it canning because they used to use actual cans, which would rust out (they were not coated to prevent corrsion. They switched to glass but the rest of the process remaine the same.

I worked at an auto detail place. If you want Clean new like floor mats, use any kind of degreaser, spray it down, and pressure wash it. We used mean green or something like that and a pressure washer then hung it up and dry it with air compressor. You'd be amazed what will come out.

Might I remind you that certain holidays can influence Amazon’s top five sellers. To make it a fair test, you would need to monitor the top five sellers for a year, and then pick the most frequent top fives to test.

Vacuum isn't to preserve food in the same sense as traditional canning. Its more for freshness and to keep dry foods from getting stale

A vacuum should shrink marshmallow because it should pull the air out of it. Try putting a carbonated drink in it. You should see the bubbles being pulled out and the drink won't be carbonated any longer.

Best advise ever from this channel :). Leave the dandelions. They are both dandy and lions. Nature's best friend - pretty - all is edible - children love them - bees love them, butterflies love them.

Tyler, any negative vacuum IS a full vacuum 😂 it pulls the perfect amount to preserve food and also it pulls that amount so if you do store something like marshmallows they won’t shrink down. Btw my grandpas an engineer and he taught about all this. Thanks Tyler!

Negative, a full vacuum means no air left in the chamber, negative 5 psi is no where near that, it's just a partial vacuum.

I have the bissel spotclean pro petedition works really well on chairs and stuff for pets. No way near as powerful as my professional commercial grade extractors at all but for home user they work great. Only complaint is after sitting the pump motor WILL rust and the impeller jams. No more water flows.

Btw, if you have a jar full of liquid or whatever, you don’t need to evacuate as much gas. You have the marshmallow in a large empty jar. Also, you can clearly see the marshmallow shrink when you let the air back in.

I am not sure about the pressure sealer. But most of the time you feel them as full as possible. That would leave very little air. So it is possible it would seal enough. Also doesn’t it come with the screw on part not just the suction lid?

Items 2 the vacuum work. it's make for food, so remove air slowly to not change food texture is correct. cheap motor and small battery is just a side effect.

I'm sure this has already been answered. However, in case it hasn't, the minimal level of vacuum pressure for storing food is generally around 25-30 mmHg, millimeters of mercury.
