You have to hold the light almost in contact with the glue for it to harden properly. It's still not as strong as super glue but works better. You do need to be able to have the glue in a visible area for the light to penetrate the glue. The Lazer Bond I have seems to work better than that stuff though.

In case anyone is wondering, the song at the end is "GE0RGE - The Movies". Searching for it on Google will just give you George Clooney, so instead type (GE0RGE the movies -"george clooney") without the parentheses and you'll find him. P.S: A hyphen before a quote will omit a specific keyword from appearing in your search results.

This glue is really useful to replace screens on smartphones, in 10 seconds it's fully cured and waterproof if you've done it right. But I really never tried to use the LED UV light it usually comes with, I use a big UV lamp. LEDs can't produce high amounts of UV.

I thought that glass was shattered all over the floor, I pick it up and was surprised that at least the top part not a single crack anywhere, only the bottom part crashed. Well, firstly this is a UV cure plastic. Only ultraviolet light will harden it, (perhaps there is a catalyst that could be used but I digress), and if the light can not touch the liquid it will not harden. This also means that even too thick a layer will have trouble curing, especially with such a weak light. All that being said 5 minute epoxy blows this stuff out of the water.

I would say the advertisement is misleading. I've used it quite a bit in various crafts but 5 seconds I would describe as more of a set time not a workable time. The UV light is also weak as you get better results holding it right up to the glue. I use it mostly on repairing my daughter's doll jewelry not recommend for fixing something that should be epoxied or welded. Thanks for the video!

The title was a little clickbaitish. After saying that, I am definitely not disappointed after watching! 5 second fix is an extremely brittle UV curing epoxy that needs a thin layer as the UV light necessary to cure cannot penetrate the cured version leaving uncured epoxy surrounded by a thin layer of cured. I've tried bigger UV lamps with the same results, just quicker failure. You should test baking soda cured super glue! It has similar limitations but it's more useful than 5 secondish almost fix. Great vids! Edit: Don't ya hate it when you realize the last comment was a year ago? Smh

That stuff is a UV set epoxy. It will not set up unless the UV light can shine on the glue itself. Of course this means that it would not set at all between wood sticks, as no light can pass through them. But even the clear plastic spoon test may not be be that great because not all "clear" plastics are actually clear to UV light. Most clear plastic spoons are made from polypropylene, which typically is fairly opaque to most UV light. For a penetrating join UV set epoxy is typically used on glass, and when it is used on UV opaque objects it can only be used as a surface join (for example: painted over a crack in a material). Obviously surface joins are not really structural, but could be used for things like waterproofing so long as the crack is not under mechanical strain. Additionally most epoxies do not form a chemical bond with the substrate material, so their holding power is limited to the mechanical friction between the glue and the bonded material. Smooth materials obviously offer little friction and so generate poor bonds. If you want a strong bond you must first rough up the surface so the epoxy has something to grab onto, and you may need to apply multiple layers to get sufficient strength for something that will experience actual strain. The applications shown in this video are not really within the proper use cases for UV set epoxy. By all means test the stuff for other applications, but you should research and test the actual proper applications for the adhesives before you throw them out. That would at least give people who see your videos a fair idea of what the products do, rather than calling it garbage for being unable to perform a job it was never intended for. If you want to test the mechanical holding power of UV epoxy you should really tests its ability on two pieces of frosted glass. The glass will be transparent to UV ensuring complete curing of the epoxy, and the texture from the frosting should provide lots of mechanical grip. Of course when doing that test you should realize that UV set epoxy was never designed to win any holding power competitions, so you should set your expectations accordingly. Or you could just test if for what most people familiar with the stuff use it for: fixing small leaks in aquariums or desk fountains, or for low strain applications like holding broken knickknacks together. It was designed for convenience over durability. The tests you put it through showed no awareness of that fact, and were completely unfair to the product for that reason. It's equivalent to taking some wood glue and smearing it between two hunks of metal, then complaining that it did not hold as well as a weld joint. It is the wrong application and wrong expectations, and therefor the conclusion is completely invalid.

I've used something just like this it works well enough. Probably depends on brand, It's a uv reactivate epoxy, same stuff used on nails
