I'd say the Wish driver is good enough for any DIY around the house work you'd need it for. And for less than $50 who cares if it doesn't last a few years.

Drill and impact combo from Walmart is 54. Impact(tool only) from ryobi, 49. Harbor freight(warrior), 39.99. Plenty of options for the diyer.

@@jeremynelson5311 strange. Most of my harbor freight tools are my favorites. They do have some lemons but most of their stuff is made by the same manufacturers as the other brands.

So the #1 biggest issue with those tools is (as most of the comments have concerns about) The Battery. They literally last like 3 charges and then they never charge again. I have a box full of them from my Father's frequent chinese shopping ventures.

Good video!!! I'm always concerned with the quality of the batteries that come with Wish tools. Would have liked to see how many lag bolts you could drive on a full charge.
@tocaamerillo431
@tocaamerillo431 Жыл бұрын
And the batteries are indeed the weak point of these impact drills, I have a different one but it's probably the same thing in a different shell, and after using it a couple times, the battery has enough oompf to only go for a few seconds before I need to let it rest and recover, probably the voltage drops too much. Most of these accept Makita batteries and I heard they gain not just runtime but also some extra power when used with a genuine battery, but I haven't tested that yet as getting a makita battery + a charger for it is a bit of a questionable investment for a $30 tool. I am considering replacing the 18650 cells inside with some genuine, high current rated ones, but the power controller board inside the battery might also be a limiting factor that just has no way around it other than using a genuine Makita battery.
@jessiemiles831
@jessiemiles831 Жыл бұрын
I have three different packs from wish. One of these are the ones that Tyler uses and I use it every day. It’ll last about three hours of continuous work. It’s actually really good for the price and if you get the replacement batteries they’re only like $10 per battery I’m pretty sure.

That seems to be a 'good enough' tool for a lot of DIYers around the house. I guess the major downside is you're unlikely to find any other tools that use that same battery so each one you get will need it's own charger.
@chrisbaker8533
@chrisbaker8533 Жыл бұрын
That's a major consideration, especially when you can get similar tools from hell-mart or harbor fraught for around the same price, if not cheaper, and there's a bunch of other tools that use the same battery.

Welcome to economies of scale. Since cordless impact guns require a bit of engineering to make them work let alone work well you probably only have a few dozen factories in the world manufacturing the parts for these and they supply the entire market of both name brand and off brand units. This tool could have been made in the same factory as a name brand but with less expensive/lower cost components. I would bet that a majority of the difference between the two tools will come down to the size of the hammer, motor size/speed and battery capacity/quality.

If you want to break a bolt, you might want to try using a rod coupling instead of a nut since it engages a lot more threads at once
@willie9899
@willie9899 Жыл бұрын
To keep the threads from giving first, you need taller nuts. Double-stacking should work too. It would give it more room to bite more threads at once

Also if you want to snap bolts, tighten them to the metal just as you did but add two more buts at the top and make aure they are tight rogether this is called a jam nut. And theb use an impact on the top nut to try to keep tightening. If the bolt is gonna snap that is how you'll snap it.

A good test of an impact is how well it can break things loose, rather than how well it can drive something in. Most impacts will perform roughly similar on driving, but breaking loose is where the good shines from the bad. Cheaper impacts just dont have the umph sometimes. And longevity id the biggest thing. Sure it can work as well as big brand tools but how much longer will the expensive one last than the cheaper one with the same use? How strong are the plastcis, how good is the solder joints inside the electronics? Vibration dampening? Cheap tools can be freat for homeowners and diy folks but if you use them all day every day, well theres a reason people who do use more expensive tools. I would absolutely I ut my hart brand impact up against my dewalt or any other impact out there and i onow it will do the job. But which one is aitll gonna be working in 3 years after daily use?

Using a the Fuel Version of the Milwaukee's M18 system is going to beat out everything that has a Brush motor (Milwaukee Fuel uses a more powerful brushless motor). Using the Regular M18 is a bit more fair and i think it would of drove it in at the same speed. The wish drill might of matched the Regular M18 at some points

Strikes me as more of a black and decker grade tool especially since it sounds like the charger is the same style their tools use. Not that there's all that much difference between black and decker and DeWalt anymore, black and decker seems to be where tool brands go to die, DeWalt invented the radial arm saw which is one of my favorite woodworking tools ever before black and decker owned em but just like with craftsman black and decker is slowly killing them

I was wondering what the price difference between the drills were the entire video. After waiting till the end to find out the price of the Chinese drill was $35 dollars, I feel the value is with the Chinese drill. I'm not sure if $35 includes battery and charger ( I would assume so) then, at the price compared to over $160+, this cheap Chinese tool is a far better value than a Milwaukee impact driver. It is good to see competitive cheaper alternatives challenging US super corporations. It allows the consumer to choose and creates competition between companies, ultimately benefiting the consumer. Good content, thank you Tyler!

As a guy who uses these types of tools on the daily....I'd go Milwaukee, DeWalt or Mak ALL day over that thing. Yeah, it works right now, but I am 90% sure it'll lose or quickly in longevity, as well as battery life under load. When it works SO hard, to drive a bolt relative to the Milwaukee, it's going to kill batteries. And then a 4 hour charge time and 1 battery?? No go, my guy. No go. Great video Tyler. As always, this is not directed at you, haha. Just at Wish haha.
