Great video Alex 👏🏻 I’ve recently been thinking about playing around with my settings as I need less spin off the tee and I only carry around 200 and I have a high ball flight. I hit a very slight fade so a few alterations might just be the answer. Fingers that works

Great video Alex, yet I've heard people, especially club pros saying very similar things like, giving the public the ability to play around with loft and lye is not a good thing, their ability to put it in the correct setting very limited, also their ability to deliver a consistent swing is very infrequent, so they then set the head incorrectly and get into a real mess, it's best left alone or go to someone that really knows what is accurately required.

You obviously have too much money😂 I have had 3 Drivers in the last 16 years. With good fundamentals you should be able to hit any driver. Of course you can optimize your driver with the right settings and shaft. If you think the issue is your driver just ask a scratch player to hit it a few times and watch them hit it 260-270 yards and in play😮 Probably not as good as their driver but clearly okay.

I'm 60 yrs old, and started playing at 35. Being self taught, and starting at such a late age, I never learned how to disengage my muscles to swing the club quickly, and hence, always hovered around 85mph swing speed. Even with such a slow swing speed, at a recent fitting, contrary to prevailing thoughts, it was determined that I needed a lower lofted driver (9 degrees), than what my low swing speed would otherwise dictate. The reason being, that I had a very positive angle of attack, +5 or so degrees, with an overall launch of around 18-19 degrees; so launch height was no issue, spin and smash factor were. I needed reduced spin and and more ball speed, which the lower loft gives me. Just my anecdotal commentary....
@rw_golf6387Ай бұрын
@@davidturk417 Exactly. I found the same thing to be true. The driver head COG and shaft also play a key role as well. Everyone needs to get fitted. The problem is finding a good fitter!

With newer technology drivers, a lot of slow swingers (94 mph) will actually benefit from a lower loft setting assuming you have a good AoA. This is contrary to what we were told just 10 years ago. This is what some of the ladies do. Bottom line is get fitted and don’t be afraid to experiment with driver head technology, shaft, and loft. I picked up 10 yards carry and 10 yards roll going from 10.5 to a 9.5 degree loft setting! My AoA is +3 to +4.
@mattforst6591Ай бұрын
If you don't lose dispersion.
@rw_golf6387Ай бұрын
@@mattforst6591 No issues with dispersion as I typically hit a straight ball or even a little draw. The 9.5 loft helped to reduce those higher spin shots that fall out of the sky with very little roll. My problem now is fairway bunkers are now coming into play that were out of reach before🤔

@@rw_golf6387 I'm 63 and play to 11 at about 6kyds, avg drive is just 210 with 230ish rollout. It's not all about swing speed, I know plenty of guys my age or older that are single digit handicaps. Scoring is all about short game and avoiding doubles or worse. The 'bomb and gouge' works fine for pros, or aspiring pros, but imo it's not the way to go for the vast majority of golfers due to not having good enough short game.

I always put a new driver on the lowest setting and then go up from there if necessary. The only way to get a little extra roll out at the courses I play is to hit it at a lower trajectory to possibly avoid plugging in the fairway.

Regarding the face opening/closing when altering loft. The face does get open when you deloft and closed when you add loft. But isn’t the idea that you should square up the face at adress, and that is what actually makes the loft change? So in affect, the face opening/closing should really not make a difference right? If you add loft and let the driver sit with that face closed, you will still play the original loft but with a closed face, and that’s not the idea. Am I right?
@andrewliberts9258Ай бұрын

Hosel adjustment works on the basis that the shaft will always be held in the same way. Not that the club head will always be put on the ground the same way. Meaning to say, hold the shaft consistently, and let the adjusted club head then lie as it shows up

You guys don’t see the problem…….. His story about the guy slicing the ball, the fix should have been his swing…. The driver adjustments didn’t really fix his swing….. He is still slicing the ball, but you can’t tell, and chances are that he is slicing his irons. This is just another quick fix gimmick, if you have a good swing fine tuning will benefit you, but if you slice the ball or hook it, then what good is it? Fix your swing first.
@stevenwhiting8941Ай бұрын
I agree with you, but you have to admit that this could be a small part of eliminating one's slice. Our swing is made up of different elements that have to be fined tuned just like a musical instrument to find the sweet spot😎

As a fitter, I agree it is always the swing and I always show people the problem but I would estimate that over half of my fittings don’t either have the time (work family) or the desire to fix their swing and want as much help as possible out of the club. Any good fitter will find out what the players perspective on this is and then proceed accordingly. You might also be surprised how many tour players don’t play their drivers in the neutral position.
@stevenwhiting8941Ай бұрын

I’ve been fit for a 10.5 degree moved up to 12 degrees. I also use a high flying ball TITLEIST pro V1 X. The combination gives me more carry and a draw which will roll out better than a weak low fade. What this man does not understand is that swing speed determines how much loft you should have on your driver. The best analogy is a hosepipe----the water might carry a certain number of feet or yards, but if you reduce the water pressure you need to elevate the hosepipe to retain the same carry distance. The same applies to swing speed. It is a shame this man does not understand simple physics, but then he's not exactly well educated.
