According to various dermatologists, like Dr.Dray, the best way to use deodorants that are antiperspirants is to apply them before going to sleep so they can reach the sweat glands and work on you before you actually sweat, pure deodorants are just fragrance and a waste of money if used by themselves. And as someone with hyperhidrosis this tip has changed my life as it is cheaper than getting botox.

It would have been more interesting to have a test against different presentations of deodorant from the same brand, like the regular deodorant bar, spray, gel, anti-perspirant bar, etc. to see if there's an actual difference. Something like the sunscreen video you made. Also, here's a couple more old wives' tales methods: lemon juice and alum stone.
@LunaWitcherArt3 ай бұрын
The problem with lemon juice is that it stains under sunlight and can even scar the skin. Living in a tropical country, I was always told to wash my hands thoroughly after squeezing a lemon, because any remnant of the juice on the skin could be harmful.

masculine vs feminine marketing
@Silentgrace113 ай бұрын
The idealism behind traditional masculine and traditional feminine traits. Traditionally, masculine individuals are supposed to be strong and powerful, often associated with storms, wild animals and just straight up individualism, so the names associated with their products take on that identity - using loud names with attributes that imply that you're going to stand out in a room with how powerful you are with this product on. Meanwhile, traditionally speaking, feminine individuals are supposed to be demure (actual demure, not quite the fun satirization that's doing circles on tiktok rn). Modest, quiet, calm, shy. Got it together, not standing out in a crowd, able to blend in effortlessly. More associations with flowers, herbs, gentle forces of nature like lakes, streams, meadows. Thus, names associated with feminine products take on more of that mindset - quiet names that elicit calm thoughts, imply discretion if not just a mild, pleasant aroma. While there has been a push to force outside of this dichotomy culturally, and that has reflected in some modern product marketing (both in expanding from that limited mindset and providing more gender neutral products in general), the vast majority like to stick with what they know, and that tends to be sticking to gender norms unfortunately.

Pheromones are a weird thing. The fact that someone can smell rank to everyone but certain individuals seems like a lie, but it's strangely true. You guys should to a perfume/cologne test on both your favorite mainstays, luxury brands, budget friendly ones, and the copycats. Yee which ones work with your natural scent to smell even better, and which ones smell horrendous or see if they actually do smell like the products they're trying to copy.

My mom. My poor mom, because it's not any more her fault than mine... For whatever reason, reacts poorly to mine. She spent my entire adolescence convinced I was refusing to wear deodorant, sending me to rewash, put on new shirts, etc; gave me a bit of a complex over it. I don't KNOW it's pheromones, but it was the explanation that let me forgive her, because otherwise she's just maliciously gaslighting me and she's not really the type. "Oh I just naturally smell bad to her, and that's nobody's fault but I can also now safely ignore her opinion on the matter" though? Fits the data, so it's the theory I'm running with.
