I think the reason Wren's worked so well is because another car drove behind the van like 2 seconds afterward making it feel like more genuine traffic. Having another car following every time as misdirection would've helped sell the other shots even more. Either way that was AMAZING. I was laughing my ass off haha love these videos guys, Keep letting Jake be Jake.

To be more inexplicable, you should be moving in the opposite direction of the trajectory of the van. 6:59 Like if you are standing in the road when they spot you, and then turn toward the direction the traffic is coming from to walk back toward the sidewalk as if the get out of the path of the van. Looking over your right shoulder as the van passes just behind you moving left. Or not looking at all. You apparently VANISH like a super spy (actually falling backwards onto some cushions in the van.) And the REAL Jason Bourn could do it with a short little golf cart.
@PvtPartzz

It is common at least in Citites, but even outside big cities it's common to see Homeless holding signs for money too, My Parents always told me when I was growing up to never give them any because they'll just buy drugs with it. Which not sure if that's true but to be honest I know it's fucked up and definitely makes me not a bad person but my first thought when I see them always does jump straight to assuming they're junkies even though logically I know not everyone in need is dealing with, it's just that's where my mind goes and so I automatically just ignore the Homeless and pay no attention

Sam and Wren's reactions were pretty great. Especially Wren who always reacts in such over-the-top ways. Sam only worked because he looked away at the crucial instant. The hilarious part was that shot at 7:37 where you can see Jake's feet tipitap behind the van. I think the set-up would've worked better if the sidewalk was taller, as to not need the tarp coming down from the van, so that you would never see Jake's feet while the van was driving in front of him.

I think this video just elevated the whole series. Just think about how many practical shots you could do in front of people to confuse the hell out of them. This could become a much bigger project IMO. I’d love to see the shot from The Matrix at the end where Neo flies away. Use that bridge with some rigging from a distance and have him bend down and then put some exploding dust bags on his shoes and have the dust shoot out and away right after the rig starts hurling him up and over the top of the bridge. Tip: do it on an overcast day if possible and paint the rigging light gray and put it on a swing arm to quickly get it out of the way. Or have them come walking up underneath the other side of the bridge and have it hanging way off the side and then quickly hoist him up and then swing it out of the way so when they run over they don’t see any rigging.

Man, I love these videos. I think one of the things that has made them work best is when they're focused on movies that are attempting "realistic" takes on their genres. The Nolan Batman movies are great examples of that, and so is the Bourne trilogy. Just a few brainstorms off the top of my head for future ideas: I wonder if there's a similar type of thing that happens in the more "realistic" relaunch of the Bond movies with Daniel Craig or the more recent Mission Impossible movies. Could you get the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade's trick of the "step of faith" to actually work for more than a second in making someone think there was nothing there? Less in the vein of "would that thing depicted in the movie work in real life," and more in the vein of "can you trick somebody in-person with these movie tricks," could you pull off a real-life version of a Texas Switch from, say, Baby Driver, Naked Gun, or Hot Fuzz? Or maybe do a magic carpet stunt where the people watching can't see the carpet? Maybe this series could even include you guys testing other film techniques that have been used very infrequently, like the low-frequency sound that Irréversible uses to make the audience nauseous and uneasy. Or trying to make some functional version of "Smell-O-Vision" to see if it actually adds anything to an experience of a movie. You could even invent and test Feel-O-Vision and Taste-O-Vision!

Something you guys missed out on apparently is that Matt Damon didn't jump onto the car or anything like that in Bourne, you can clearly see his feet moving as he runs alongside the car and even stands up at the end of the shot.

I think this works best when there is a natural flow of cars driving by, f.e. at 07:00 where behind the pick up van there is another. Just elevates the credibility in general.

I always thought these vanishes couldn't be done for real, that it was just an editing technique, but this is so awesome.

It's kinda sad that they're all so used to it at that point that they immediately expect some crazy stuff to happen. You need to prank someone outside the crew!

If you pulled the blanket up as soon as he got into the van, it would have worked perfectly. The times when he turns around really conceal him running to get into the van. If you could pull it off with the van going twice as fast, no one would think he could have gotten into the van. Plus, if there wasn't anything whatsoever he could have been hiding behind, it would be an even better illusion.

I love how the director chose to have the two people walking passed to make it seem like a camera wipe. Very fun shot.

i think one way to improve this is having Jake walking in the opposite direction of the van. so the viewer's eyes naturally follows him in that direction while expecting to see him reappear after the van passes but he's not there. that's the key of the jason bourne disappearance scene.

The sad part about this video is that none of the crew reacted to the tent in the street, I'm guessing they see homeless so often they've almost become blind to it.

@@linecraftman3907 Ikr, people can actually notice the little things. I feel like something new and shocking aka drama is what people are into and want to see. I mean if there were no drama, what would the point of living be? Humans a born to find and deal with drama, that's why we have to get a job, eat, go to the toilet, argue with others. Life is basically one big competition, although it's like chess, no matter where you come from, everyone is balanced and equal. I am sure you can argue back and you probably will, but that just proves my point. People love drama. We dig it.

@@linecraftman3907 Oh. Well I wasn't really specifying hiding and tricks. I was actually talking about the fact that it is new and original. Like they could test theories of different movie stunts irl to see if they are possible like myth busting.
