If you wanna see the pencils work with water- check out the gucci video! 😝 Since unfortunately they’re the same exact pencil you can see a more formula based video there! I figured instead of going over the same things for the third time, I’d focus more on why they’re not worth the money instead of the formula. But I shoulda tested them with water, my bad!

I mean I feel like it's kind of a misinterpretation to call it "packaging" because the pouch is actually the product and the pencils seem like place-holders to me. That said, a thousand bucks is still wildly overpriced for a pencil pouch (I think the design is pretty ugly as well) and if they're already going for luxury they could have included pencils that don't suck. But these products aren't necessarily for artists, they're for rich people who need to affirm their sense of importance via designer products because they don't know what else to do with their money so it makes sense for the pencils to be this quality 🤷‍♀️

Imagine how good Graf von Faber-Castell or Pelikan Edelstein colored pencils would be. Hell you wouldn't even need a "premium" brand: IMO Koh-i-Noor makes the best colored pencil leads while Staedtler makes the best actual wooden pencils: make it a three-way collab with K-i-N making the leads, Staedtler making the casings for the leads, and Louis Vuitton making the casing for our superpencils.

I mention this whenever I watch a video that talks about the lead breaking in coloured pencils - if you microwave your coloured pencils for a few seconds it will melt the broken lead back together! 😁 I accidentally trashed an entire set of prismacolours after keeping them in a wooden pencil case and them getting knocked around in my bag all day (I was devastated 😭) but then I learned this trick and managed to revive the entire set! Generally I’ll do 5-10 seconds, roll them around a bit, then do another 5-10 seconds. Just FYI, if you microwave them for too long the paint on the outside will start to bubble up and get crispy, but even if that happens it’s better than not being able to use the pencil at all.

@jessicapearson9479
@jessicapearson9479 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, that is a bad hack. One, each brand of colour pencil has a different make up so if that hack did work for one it would not work for the other. Two, you cannot actually see inside the pencil to see if it really melted back together. Three, if it did melt the lead of the pencils. Then you would have a mess as the tip of the already sharpened part and (if nothing is on the back of the pencil) flat back part of the colour pencils would melt all over the microwave plate making your colour pencil useless and a mess. In short. That is a fake hack.
@godzandheros
@godzandheros 2 жыл бұрын
@@jessicapearson9479 I believe it would work for most wax based pencils
@jessicapearson9479
@jessicapearson9479 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, I have done that hack with numerous brands and while it does melt it also starts to poor out the open ends of the colour pencils. I also used 4 different brands of microwaves as each microwave is slightly different. It does not work and just makes a mess. Not to mention if there is any moisture in the pencils they can explode. And yes, I had some explode on me resulting in my neighbors calling the police thinking there were guns going off. The hack only seems to work to some who do not let it in long enough to actually melt the inside of the colour pencils. Kind of like a placebo effect. When you do it makes a mess. Think about how long you have to heat frozen green beans just to get them soft. The wood around the pencil take as long to heat up enough to allow the heat to get to the center of the pencil to melt the wax while the tip and the ends of the pencil exposing the lead are completely melted and all over the plate. Like I said it does not work.
@staciecarrel4492
@staciecarrel4492 2 жыл бұрын
Colored Pencil brands that actually do the bare minimum of quality control don’t need these “hacks”, they just work as intended all the time. 15-20 years ago prismacolors were great, they were one of the best brands on the market and were a very affordable price. Then they moved their factory and stopped doing any kind of quality control. Now there are: leads that are horribly off center, leads that completely slide out of the casing, split casings, casings made with knotty wood that sharpens irregularly, and leads that come out of the factory shattered so all the way down the pencil the sharpened point falls out as soon as you get it sharp enough to color with. Though other brands like caren d’arche and Faber castel are more expensive per pencil, needing to buy a prismacolor pencil 4x as often because of these issues makes the more “expensive” brands a smarter buy. I still use prismacolors for coloring books because they are cheap and have a good pigment load, but that’s all they have going for them. I use brands that are lightfast and actually pay attention to quality control for my actual artwork.

I'm fascinated by the fact that the brands would rather cut corners than reduce their profit margin. It's obvious that they are charging a lot for the brand but if they keep this up on multiple fronts, then what is the brand really worth? On the other hand, artists aren't their target with this stuff so maybe the rich people really just don't care if what they buy is run of the mill stuff with a certain label on it.

Hello from Brazil, Rae! Do you know what's been puzzling me since your first Louis Vitton Purchase? Both, Louis Vitton and Gucci have on their barrels the same symbol that identifies them as watercolor as Caran D'Ache does! I have a box of 40 Supracolor Soft Aquarelle Caran D'Ache pencils that look very much like the first Louis Vitton package, including the silver and gold ones. And the little golden brush on the barrel is absolutely the same. I have other watercolor pencils and each brand uses a different symbol, picture, or word to identify them as watercolor. Why don't you make a video comparing your Caran D'Aches to your LVs and Guccis? I would be here with my fingers crossed hoping to learn they not only use low-quality pencils but also copy a traditional brand's symbol. It would be very disappointing, though revealing if they were real Caran D'Aches. Hope you're well and healthy. XOXO 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 Martha

A fool and his money is easily parted they say, so I bet these literally jump off the shelves. What a blooming waste of money! I would be ashamed to own up to the fact that I had wasted that kind of money on crapola like those pencils. I would rather Give it to charity than waste my money on anything that poor in quality! Give me a polychromo pencil any day, at least with them you get a decent quality product, and not something cheap in a pretty bag!

So expensive yet the designs by almost all of those expensive brands are hideous lmao🤣 (I'd rather have something good looking (and comfy) that's cheap or affordable instead of expensive stuff that looks ugly but is brag worthy, but that's just my opinion..)

I'm a big fan of thrift stores and I've found some excellent quality art supplies for pennies on the dollar. Sometimes the pencils are used but that's what I'm going to do with them so that's fine. However, your videos are very valuable because you can't rely on stumbling upon everything you need. It's important to have advice from a knowledgeable person like you. Thank you.

Wait until you discover the Chanel Colored Pencils for 5,000 $. Guess how many are in there. Yes, it's 5 colored pencils. I repeat, 5 colored pencils. White, Yellow, Blue, Red, Black. This is 1,000 $ for one colored pencil. And now, guess what these pencils look like. Yes, they look the exact same like the Gucci and Louis Vitton colored pencils. So you better buy them to test them and make another video review. HAHAHAHAHA

The same as I said on the Gucci video: while you're obviously paying for the brand, it's still no excuse to have literal Wish-tier colored pencils inside. The packaging, even this time, comes nowhere near the cost of $1,200 - There's absolutely no profit cut involved in including something at least Prismacolor tier (it might get expensive trying to find a new formula to make pencils high tier enough to fit the $100 per pencil figure, but if it were at least "high quality" nobody would really think to demand such a thing). It really does devalue the whole package and make it seem trashier overall to include such cheap pencils in their bag - especially when they're doing identical pencils between two companies. And because it's advertised as a colored pencil set, it's actively losing them money to have terrible pencils like this. There's essentially no market for it. The easiest fix for this is to just list it as 'a pencil bag/holder' or whatever, and incidentally mention that it comes with placeholder pencils. If rich kids then want swaggy pencil holders, they'll buy it and just see the colored pencils inside as a bonus or packaging to be removed. Most of all, they won't embarrass themselves selling Wish products with their company logo stamped on for $1000+

As someone that has had a long hard think before buying a single Faber Castell pencil for £2.50 on eBay, every time you said the price, I think my heart stopped for a second. Also what's that saying? "You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd," that's these pencils

Stunned they made another one. They could do SO much artistically with the brand, colours unavailable anywhere else…they could incorporate colours from their makeup lines…and this is what they put out. For creativity and thoughtfulness: a zero. For cash grab and exactly what we would expect from LV and their awful huge brand: 10/10 expected Love your channel, so happy you did this update! 🌈✨

I sat down with a cup of tea and a couple of cookies and what do I find? Rae! Rae has made a new video! Now that's a Good Morning! Fun video, thanks for taking the hit for the team. I never even knew that these fashion houses made art supplies and surprise! they don't. They make purses for pencils. I use a $4 pouch from United Art and Education; this is obviously why I'm such a crude artist because our pencils are the same, it's the purse that makes the artist. 🤣 Thanks again for another great video!

As an artist myself, this is an insult! All my art supplies in 3 years have cost less than these colored pencils, and yet my supplies work WAY more better than those pencils apparently! If I nearly had as much money as those who buy any of those luxury fashion brands all the time, I would be using my money for something more useful like donating to charities for education in third world countries.

For this price couldn't they just include a 12 set of caran d'ache or faber castell? Or maybe those companies would want to be paid for the "collaboration" and use of their brand name, too. ((which I think for this price, LV could manage since even their super nice pencil case I'm sure is manufactured for pennies on the dollar even if they are made in France))

DIt would have been nice if Gucci and LV sourced from, say, Caran D'Ache, Utrecht, even some tiny independent, anything that more closely matched the price. Ali Baba / Dollar Tree pencils! Well well! Thanks for the review. It is nice to know that something with that price point is attainable through other routes, if one wishes.

One thing I learned very quickly in my psychology class at art college is luxury brands do not give a crap about the quality of what they are selling, they are not selling the product to consumers what they are selling in the name. These colored pencils are a great example of that, they can make them as cheap as they want but at the end of the day people with the money will buy it regardless of quality because its not the quality they are marketing and selling its the name, because quality art supplies only impress and niche group of people but a name like Gucci, everyone knows Gucci, people want luxury items to flaunt off the brand they got it from not the item itself.
