I have mods that let me do that, I have a family named Sanchez that own a Mexican restaurant The husband cooks the food, and his wife is host, and they hired someone to serve, their daughter is still a child, but I can have her help pick up dirty dishes if the place gets really busy.

Also, I've noticed when you play in pre-made restaurant - it doesn't glitch. When you build your own one that's when issues appear. Usually I have a bug that's chefs don't appear on the lot, or don't go to cook.

I usually have to reset them to go to the chef station but yes sometimes they don't even come at all ! Or finish making the food

When the chefs don't go to their cooking thing (that one object in the kitchen), I always shift-click reset them. Then they go. That shouldn't be an issue in the first place, but at least I figured out a fix

I have the same problem but it most likely happens when I open my restaurant and I’m not there than when I come back it’s always like that. My chefs are like not moving at all and they don’t cook and I’m like wt???

@@celiacs3116 what fixes this glitch is when you go to build and buy delete the chef station and then buy it again. Unfortunately, you need to do it everytime you open a restaurant. At least that's how it works for me :C

You can if you use Carl's Dine Out Reloaded mod, it lets you get Family members to work and lets you choose what role in the restaurant you want to work, also you can set up a restaurant as a fast food or food truck restaurant where the people get their own food and take it to their table themselves.

It didn't mess up but it took 12 hours! I run a 4.5 star restaurant in one of my saves with no (relative) problems but bloody hell I wish customers would all sit where they'r esupposed to, stop dancing, stop getting up randomly. I wish the chef wouldn't stand outside for the first 3 hours of their shift and get cooking 😫

@@Ajinnora I try to be realistic and open the restaurant 7 or 8 hours at a time. It only nets between 250 to 350, sometimes 500 so far - so no, not sustainable unfortunately!

If a chef is standing outside doing nothing for hours I shift click them and click debug sim and it fixes the issue

The only way I've found (without Carl's awesome Dine Out Reloaded mod) to get my chefs to actually cook is to use the reset sim cheat on the chef when they show up on the lot, then they get straight to work.

Honestly interestingly dine out worked for me 90% of the time. The issue was just going for a lunch date and having the meal end around 9 pm like if I wanna have my sims go on a meal on town I have to accept the fact that they’re not having anything else done the same day :D

I disagree a bit. The server didn't show up and he should've. Staff not doing their work properly is a game feature but they should turn up. My experience with this pack is that it's glitchy and must be used carefully. Software shouldn't work like that; the user shouldn't be busy avoiding breaking the game. When you place the dining table legally(without placeobjects) servers still have problems getting to the table so they need more room. When the customers decide to do something while waiting it might break the meal. The first time I made a restaurant I had to restart the game because the Sims kept waiting for the meal and their ques filled up. I suspect this is one of the reasons the HSY class session is so simple; to avoid disasters like this.

The first server he chose was Michael Bell who is the assigned NPC creature keeper for the Cottage Living pack. Maybe that's why he didn't show up.

Hmm not sure if an employee not showing up is actually a feature or a glitch cause it does happen in real life restaurants, That's when the owner or someone else takes over for the missing employee, but you need Carl's Dine Out Reloaded mod to do that.

servers bailing on shifts sometimes is pretty realistic, I've had many coworkers pull no-shows, it'd be cool if they made that an actual feature and you have to call them or something and your other employees are tense from having to pick up someone else's work on top of their own.

For me Dine Out is hit or miss, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It's one of my favorite packs aside from spa day :) I really hope a dine out refresh is coming!

Here's a little trick to use in case your employees are frozen or don't show up for work. So, I didn't have this problem with the first restaurant I made, but I did with my second one. Here's what to do when this happens. So, in the Business tab, you can see a button that says “Open.” This button can be selected at any lot, not just the lot where your restaurant is built. So, if you select “Open” when your sim is at a different lot and then go to your restaurant, all of your employees will be at work and at their stations. This is super convenient not just because of the bugs mentioned above, but also for when you don't feel like waiting for your employees to come to work. Hope this helps.

I just switched to the sims 2 and i was SHOCKED at how fast my sims got their food. I had my sim take her son to breakfast for his first day of school and they were in the restaurant for like 3 hours. When i played sims 4 on my ps4 my sims would either never get their food or it would take so ridiculously long that it made so sense.

I am not sure but i think the difference is that in sims 2 the chefs are npc while in sims 4 they are functional as other sims. So they have levels of skills and they take too much time to cook and it can glitch the game.

A way to "make it work" you own restaurant on the daily is to open the restaurant and then travel to it from home. When you arrive everyone (9 out of 10 times) has arrived to work and tables will already have patrons seated. Lol, the only time my staff didn't all show up is because that particular SIM had died.🙀

@@CR-lz6tt This was a make it work suggestion if you restaurant isn't properly functioning because it will run technically without your sim. Yep your Sim can own a restaurant and never set foot in it, after hiring the chef/host/server you can open/close the restaurant from home and never go there. The vet clinic from Cats & Dogs can also function without your Sim by hiring a vet or 2 or 3 and opening it from home. I have not however, been able to run a store this way even if my sim has employees? The icon where all your businesses are listed (on PS4 it's the bottom right corner of the game screen, not the phone just your gameplay screen) Click your restaurant if you own other locations, then instead of clicking the "travel" to location first click "open" using the button. Then click the "travel" to restaurant button. Upon arrival your staff should all be present & customers as well. This advice was posted shortly after "dine out" was first released and so far it's still working when my game glitches.

But, you don't sit at a restaurant for 12 hours ever, unless you work there. I want to be able to take my sims to eat, and then take them somewhere else after. That's how I would handle real life and I want to be able to do the same on the sims.

running a business in the sims sounds great in theory. because in practice, you spend more time on loading screens than actually running the business. because you need to follow business hours or your employees get pissed off. so you need to constantly close, go home, go to the business, open it, and that's just too many loading screens

I personally love Dine Out, it's probably my favourite game pack! I'm a builder so I love building restaurants, creating a custom menu and waiters' outfits. Restaurant is the best place to go on a date and tbh I don't see many glitches. Yes, sometimes you have to wait ages till your food is delivered, sometimes the chef doesn't want to cook (reset sim cheat usually helps), sometimes waiters leave dirty plates on the floor but overal the pack is good and tbh these bugs don't concern me that much.

i play with dine out often, when im in the mood my sims eat at restaurants every day. sometimes i bring their friends along and yeah, the townies often dont finish their food, sometimes they're dont even start eating it, which is annoying when i want to order an additional dish (like a dessert) for everybody

My sims never get their food. When they finish their drink they stop eating so you have to manually click on the food to eat again. I HATE that random sims talk to my sims. And I hate when my sims date gets up and starts talking to some other group at another table.. especially when I know that sims isn’t even making actual connections or friends, it’s literally a waste of time.

My biggest problems with dine out right now are Sims not doing what they're supposed to, like staff or guests going to shower in the rain, the chef's stand outside the restaurant for quite a while before they go in to cook, and when I visit a restaurant to eat I have to turn autonomy off because they won't stay seated. My Sims used to eat as soon as they got their meal, but they don't do that anymore. They initially get the actions queued up but everyone eventually drops them. I have to go back three or four times so they all finish and if I bring someone not in my household they just don't eat. My Sims have also been taking their food and drink with them to another table or the bar and no matter what I do they won't sit back at their table. I usually play with a full house. That used to mean 8 Sims, but for whatever reason my game will only let me have 7 Sims now, but even with 7 Sims it can get very frustrating. Constantly micro managing everyone so they eat and sit where they're supposed to. Making sure they don't just walk into the kitchen and try to make food for themselves or go around cleaning up the dishes from tables. I would say as far as can I go and have a meal at a restaurant? Yes I can. Is it fun? Not really. I've also run several restaurants and it goes ok. It's kind of boring. My one main problem with it was if the restaurant was open I had to be there because I wouldn't make money otherwise. Even if I had the restaurant perk that allows you to not be there. I read a guide somewhere that said open your restaurant a few hours and then go in and play, so I tried that, but every time I did that when I got there literally everyone was standing outside and I didn't make any money. A lot of the problem I think is just the Sims in general and the way they act. Like the guy standing there at the table talking the whole time. I get that all the time and now that I don't have MC command center installed I can't make them leave.

It is that bad. The complaining is justifiable. It takes all day to get a meal, nobody stays seated, the chefs are glitchy and the Sim or their household can't even work in the restaurant (maybe then the service and food would somewhat improve...SMH). This was the game that let me know how bad the Sims 4 UI and coding really was and how it wasn't meant to be used for a single player game. SAD, because the Dine Out concept is a great idea but the execution is lackluster and underwhelming like most of the gamepacks and expansion packs in the Sims 4 and it's all because of the UI and coding. No wonder they've marketed and focused the Sims 4 to be more about building, buying and CAS, the UI and coding can't handle full and indepth gameplay.

This pack is so BUGGED! With or without mods! Had a sim ask a townie out on a date, they wouldn't stay seated and kept getting up and walking away from the table to talk to other sims! It kept happening over and over throughout the date, so frustrating! And also, the townie that was asked out wouldn't even eat their food! I tried this at different restaurants, and it was the same! 😫I still like the pack, but we really need a Dine out refresh! 🥺

I'm happy to see you review this. I have the pack and for the longest time the only thing I have used it for was to install a chef station in my sims homes. The reason being is that the food quality seems to come out better and it doesn't require cleaning. It's good to know that my sims can finally go out to eat at something other than a cafe. I didn't realize this was an issue. I actually play this pack a lot. But I'm on Xbox and I never had any issues. I usually own a restaurant in most games. Plus I use the restaurant as a faster way to learn all the recipes in the game.

Everytime i go to a restaurant it takes ages to get the food and the emplyes just put the trash everywhere in the room xD. Last time i used it, after i orderd my table just got reset and so also my order .And the gameplay when you own a restaurant is just so boring, you can do nothing youreself ... hate this pack.

Dine out is quite a frustrating because of bugs and glitches but I still like playing it tbh. I've experienced where chefs just stand outside for the whole time but you still gotta pay his/her wage. Then, there are always customers whose orders never reach them at all even though the waiter/waitress got the order. The customers keeps on standing even when eating. A lot of times you gotta do the cleaning cause the waiter and waitress are busy standing behind the chefs lol. The interest from investing in a business is crazy low too, the highest my sim got was 13 simoleons and she wasn't paid any for the the other weeks at all.

Dine out has always worked for me. It does have a few bugs and glitches, and yes it does take forever for my sims to get their food and eat. But it was never broken to the point where it was unplayable. Idk, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

The biggest problem with dine out is not visiting restaurants but actually owning and running them. The cook will be paralysed outside the restaurant until reset a couple of times, guests won’t ask for a table, staff will be removed suddenly so all your skill progress will be lost. It’s completely unplayable like that.

Michael Bell is notoriously bad at showing up for things in my experience. I've tried to add him to clubs and invited him to partys but he rarely shows up. If he shows up he often leaves after a couple of in game minutes. I think he's broken. Just another quirk of the super quirky Sims 4! 🤪

I think that guy from Cottage Living who does fetch quests and wouldn't come to his waiter job might be broken when it comes to doing anything but normal sim things and his fetch quests because recently I noticed that he won't come to my club either.

10:26 that’s what pisses me out the most in sims 4 gameplay - they do absolutely nothing except pretty speaking with each other with the same facial expressions all of the freaking time

What a lot of people Don't know when it comes to Dine Out is if it's Owned, and No One is Playing the Owners than the Restaurant has Problems. It's best to Not Have Owners if you're Not going to play the family who Owns it. It's that way with Retail as well, because No One is restocking the businesses or re-hire if sims dies. It's possible the server didn't show up is he's part of the Cottage Living story line where you have to see him for updates if you're doing an aspiration.

The one thing I really want in the Sims 4 next is a Dine Out Refresh, fixing all bugs, glitches and lags, add a active Waiter Career, add more Build and buy items and make it possible to hire family members.

My restaurant visits usually go ok until the order comes out, one sim gets a drink, the other gets food and I can order a million times and only one sim gets drinks and the other gets food. When the drink/food glitch doesn't happen (very rare), it is a smooth experience even with mods and cc establishments.

Someone else has probably said already, but I think your first server didn't show up because he's a special Sim from the Cottage Living pack, he's the Creature Keeper, so he has to be in Henford-on-Bagley. And his need to be there nullified you hiring him. He honestly should not have shown up in your list at all. But the Sims isn't always on the ball with making previous packs compatible with new ones and vise versa.

I remember I took my sims to a restaurant for a date and since I had Get Famous! celebrities came in too....anyway my sims wouldn't eat their food nor order or anything and the staff was just fooling around and i was like "why the heck are they not doing anything?!!" and then i realized there were celebrities and that made me think they were the reason of said issues soooo since they wouldnt leave....I killed every single celebrity in Sunset Valley right there thinking it'd fix everything.......little did i know it was the pack itself that was causing the issues......so much lives were lost in vain that night 😞

My chefs never walk into the restaurant without me debugging them. I find the rest of the restaurant works well, enough as long as I have green stars.

My townie dates don't always eat, but they drink lol. Since I am paying, I take their food home in a lunch bag lol

The worst is that menu items have difficulty levels and you can never find chef with any skill meeting requirements . And your menu is always basic.

The entire reason I bought dine out was so i can have a family run restaurant and have my sim actually cook the food since she’s a gourmet chef… what is even the point if you can’t even use your own cooking skill in your own restaurant, I was extremely disappointed when I couldn’t hire my own family members

Mine is still horrifically broken, I do not understand how you pulled this off. My Sims won't stay at the table, won't order food, won't eat food, won't talk to each other, won't stop looking at their phones. I tried a romantic date for my sims who had a big fight the other day to make up and only the dessert came out and only after several hours of them bobbing up and down from the table. Their relationship was not fixed after their abysmal date, to say the least.

sims 1 hot date when you went to the dinner restaurant or anywhere, it would freeze and take forever to do anything and if they had to use the bathroom, forget it, a horrible date and both are leaving will all needs depleted.

Ironically, it is the opposite for other packs, they may be glitchy but they are worth it for the build buy/cas products.

I had a restaurant for many many sim days and almost never had an income. I always lost money, because wages cost more than the food, no matter how many bonuses I unlocked. It is upsetting

The first and only time I had one of my families go to a restaurant I had them go for breakfast and they instead had dinner. It took like 8 hours for them to get their food, it was ridiculous!

I think it would help tremendously both with this pack and with My Wedding Stories if it were possible to control sims in a group. Like, the moment they come to the restaurant or the moment the wedding starts, they become a group which does stuff together when there's a command. As long as there's none, they do what they want, but if one is given, they all obey it together.

Hey I just discovered your channel and your videos are so funny 😁 and chaotic but in a good way. There's a mod that fixes dine out its Carl's Gameplay Dine Out mod. I was able to get my food in a reasonable time :). It still has some glitches but with this mod I'm able to enjoy taking my sims to a restaurant.

I only play 'that pack' as a customer on a date. It usually works fine but occasionally glitches. Have never played it owning a restaurant
