I liked the photos from the cheap camera more than the pixel, I guess I'd use my soft gnd to get a bit more of dynamic range, a simple tripod for cellphones and that is all. The Pixel has much computational alteration to my taste.

The colors are quite nice, the tones are more yellow, which I like and the grain reminds me of film, which I like as well
@darkdayzdawn49842 жыл бұрын
I agree. The cheap camera has much better colors than the pixel and over all does not look bad. The down side is the cheap camera has a massive crop, it is over exposed, the clouds and sky are washed out, everything looks pulled in with less depth, and if you look at the grass close up the detail is a lot lower. Somehow I still think the cheap camera looks better over all.

What I took from this video: if you're absolutely broke and want to make videos to share your photos on KZbin, the cheapest camera is actually kind of not totally unusable because viewed on a phone screen (like most users do) they look fine. Or at least as bad as anything else after KZbin's compression.

Bit late reply, but I think a second hand camera by a reputable brand would be better than this for teaching kids to develop an eye for this. If you look around, you can find great bargains (I found a Sony HX60 for 40 bucks for example). It even does 1080p50 video recording with image stabilization.

I have that Cam. Its pretty good for inside at conventions. I have tiny hands... so Mouse. It works for not too far apart in okay lighting and your subject is 10 feet or so away and to take pics of small stuff on tables. >its nice to have a point and shoot (or your phone) at events. Think snapshots and its FINE the size of the image gives you room to Crop out and frame people better. I also dont mind handing it to folks I carry extra cameras like this. I thought the pictures looked pretty good on my computer monitor (~16" diagonal and an older screen). Maybe enlarged the pictures are crap but the camera appears to be better than nothing. I liked the test pics better than those by the cell phone. The pictures might be good for Instagram or similar online websites. Point and shoot (not a horrifying experience to one who didn't get into digital until I was +40 years old); don't need film (or the expense of processing that); don't know about battery life or if it's easy to find extra batteries; and almost zero control over how the camera sees (the macros weren't great, but I have trouble with flower pics using a better camera). I don't think it was a waste of money (it could be a tax write off, too!). It could be used as a gift after all.
@nopunintended50964 жыл бұрын
I really liked the first image, because it doesn’t look so crazy hdr-like and has a nice contrast and colors, almost like 35mm film. I know it blew the highlights but I like it. It kinda looks like a phone-shot edited with a warm vsco filter. So yes, off to amazon I guess 🚀

As someone who enjoys shooting video on a Digital8 Camcorder as well as with my Sony FX3 and others, this little photo camera is honestly pretty cool. All cameras are kinda cool, photo- / videography is fun and great in general. People in the past would be crazy about having the ability to take nice looking images in such a compact and affordable format. Every camera has it's unique charm and character. Phones can be kind of meh, but it really comes down to putting more thought into the images you take on them - framing, lighting, ISO, colours, f-Stop, etc. can be manually adjusted and it's the job of the photographer to decide. This reminds me of the experiment where they compared a proper analogue camera with a disposable one and the film came out looking unique and each camera had it's own character. You could cut a hole into a box, put a lens on it and burn the image on some special paper and if you put thought into it, it can come out great.

Just watched this, and it was exactly what I expected. So, not taken much away from this video, but have learned a lot from your others which I have been following for a while. What has prompted me to comment is that I am hugely jealous of the fact you are moving to somewhere near the Ogwen Valley. I have holidayed there for about 20 years, staying at Tai Neweddion which is on the old coach road. I've got a bit of a family connection to the area, as my grandmother was born and lived in Tregarth. Her father was a quarryman who worked at the Penrhyn Quarry (Are you going to do a video on the Zip wire??). I hope you get the house, I think you and Emily will love it there. Stay safe.:)

There's something about your background music abruptly ending before you talk at the beginning of your videos that makes me laugh. I love that 00's point-and-shoot sticker aesthetic too. Makes me miss the SX130 IS I had that made me think "RIGHT. I want to actually try now." as a 15-year-old. Unfortunately used it so much that the electronics fried and it gets painfully hot with batteries in it while it's turned off.

I have tried to shoot this kind of camera in lower pixel settings, smaller picture will come back better results. I always think large pixels is only designed if you need the photo comes large, as displayed on a big big screen, not on a normal computer screen, and usually a smaller picture with much smaller size that only to be seen on a computer screen or smaller prints will do just as fine, have more depth of view, more details, more 3-D, because there are less noise between the dense pixels.

An inexpensive but working camera can teach a youngster how to think like a photographer. Not heavy thought yet, but it will encourage her to notice her surroundings. A digital camera won't limit the number of pictures she can take (unlike a film camera, though they do teach one to be frugal). Her only limits will be the battery (so get extras) and the memory card. Oh, and her interest and focus, being young and having the world to explore. What fun!

So your full review was “It’s rubbish”. Actually I did notice, even on KZbin that the skies were totally blown out in all the pictures even though the rest of the picture looked pretty dark.
