I used to be an OT and often recommended kettle tippers to my patients. I've never seen one like the one you used, it looked dangerous. normally you would use the handle of the kettle to control the pour, which gives you more control and stops it tipping over. I dont like the handle on the tipper at all.

I thought there is NO WAY I would have that kettle tipping contraption in my house, it looked flimsy and dangerous. I did think it would be better to use the kettle handle to tip it rather that that flimsy lever, at least then your not actually lifting the kettle but have more control over it.

Loved this video as always! But I did want to mention, please don't use a microwave to poach an egg it's extremely dangerous, even if you pierce the yolk the egg can explode and there have been many cases of people being severely burned from doing it. Ann Reardon has a video explaining the dangers, I had no idea myself until I saw it. It might not happen every time but the one time it does could be deadly so I think it is much safer to just cook them in a pot. Sorry for the rant, I just try to spread awareness about the potential danger of this hack where I can. Have a good day!

We considered a kettle cradle for me because I struggled to lift the kettle, I was just shaking soo much the water was going everywhere. I took to leaning the kettle over the side of the sink and pouring into a cup in the sink.. I finally told my husband I couldn't do it any more. And he bought a hot cup. You fill it with a jug or something. Even a cup would work. Then it pours out a measured cup of hot water for you. Kind of like a Nespresso machine but for hot water. My husband tops it up once a week(sometimes more) and all I need to do is press a button.

The kettle pourer seems risky. It looked like the kettle was about the slide off when tipped and go crashing onto the floor. It would be better to just get a dedicated hot water dispenser for something like that, since you not only don't need to fiddle about with the kettle to refill it, but there's usually just a simple button instead of a lever.
@Pythonaria
@Pythonaria 2 жыл бұрын
We bought the Aqua Optima water dispenser recently as I have a very weak wrist thanks to an accident some years ago and we live in a very hard water area so the dispenser has a filter. We were going through kettles at a rate of one approximately every 2 years as they started leaking from the base. Didn't matter what brand it was either. The water dispenser is so easy to use - just select how hot you want your water (and if you select "boil" it really does boil the water). I like my coffee cooler and find that 80C works great. Then you select how much you want - for my cup 200ml, press the button and off it goes. You can also press the button again to stop the water flow. I also like that it really chills the water as well so really nice to have chilled water on tap during this hot weather. There is no waiting with this one like there is with others. Works instantaneously. Yes, it was pricey but worth every penny.

@Pythonaria
@Pythonaria 2 жыл бұрын
@@acaciakapusta8921 It was expensive at just under £200 but a half decent kettle now will set you back anywhere between £40 upwards and we've gone through probably 3 in the past 5 years due to limescale build up. Even a week after descaling a kettle it is full of limescale again. With the Aqua Optima it has a filter and it will tell you when to descale it (eventually). The instructions are to use a vinegar solution so no need to buy expensive descalers. It's also nice to have a cup of tea or coffee without bits of limescale in it.

I think the can opener is best for people with no fingernails… just helps to lift the tab up a bit and then the rest you do yourself!

The splatter guard is just a solution without a problem. Need to cover a bowl in the microwave? put a plate over it if you don't have a lid that will fit. Need to move a bowl from the microwave while it's hot? Put a plate underneath it. You don't need the handles, or "limbs" because the plate doesn't get as hot as the bowl. In other news I've decided to market a gadget to solve the problem of wanting a hot drink but not wanting to burn your fingers when holding it in your hands. I call it a mug.

We learned the secret of the microwave a little while back and its paper towel. Get that drape action going and rarely have a splattered microwave :)

Use the mate by turning it upside down and push the handles together so they grip the sides of the bowl. 😁

I have the 5-in-1 gadget. When opening cans with tabs it's supposed to be used to pull up the tab but not open it all the way.

For the first time I actually own a gadget featured in one of these videos. The can/bottle opener is great. I did have one instance where I got a little too aggressive though and ripped the pull tab off the can.

I know alot of people with disbilities that use the breville hot cup or the one cup because its easier than using the tipper for the kettle. They are so easy to use and I just use a jug to fill it up.

As a visually impaired person that kettle tipped is an accident waiting to happen. Would not recommend for people with eight problems!

soda can opening is already a perfect lever, using extra tools breaks it. Lift gently and dont pull.

I've worked with people who have nails that are so brittle they need a lever because that seemingly innocuous tab will break the nail to the nail bed. A simple bottle opener does the trick.

Not everyone can ‘lift gently and don’t pull’ that’s why Barry makes a point of mentioning folks with disabilities at the beginning

I’ve got a very similar Wish version of the 5 in 1, and I find the can ringpull slot is good for lifting the ring enough to get the lever bit in. It slides on better upside down. Never used it for a drink ringpull, but maybe that one would work better upside down too.

I have one of those kettle tippers and you do have to be a bit more creative with how you place the straps to make it safe to use but it's absolutely the difference between being able to use a kettle or not for people who don't have the budget for one of the fancier ones
