Summer league in the ASHL is completely different than winter, it’s almost a whole division shift. It’s like you said, kids (and I can say that) who play decent to high level competitively coming out of school and jump in the league. As a goalie, I actually enjoy it. I like the challenge. What night do you play. P.S.- I love chirping the refs after watching your videos. We know a bunch of them and the banter is always entertaining 🤣

The other goalie had ONLY 11 shots on goal and he let in 3??? Yikes!!! The E league around here used to be like that... Lots of "beginners" that are able to aim cross bar down, you know, snipers. But its being heavily regulated now that we have an NHL team in Vegas. Theres a ton of new people just getting into the game (or in my case, back in the net). Ive been doing quite well this season 3-1 with two shootout wins. Keep up the great work. I usually watch these before my games to get my mind in the crease.

So I'm 38 and I just started playing in April, and I got my goalie skates sharpened by the pro shop guy at my rink, and I can hockey stop, but I get 0 and I mean 0 push with my butterfly. How is that possible?
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Scott Beard it could be a couple of things... 1 maybe they are not sharpening them sharp enough. Ask for a 1/4. Sometimes I go with a 5/8th which is pretty sharp for a goalie. The other thing which might be more likely is perhaps because you are new to the position you are putting to much weight on your pushing leg which then makes it harder to get a good push. Try shifting your weight over to the knee of the direction you want to go in.. If that still doesn’t work, what kind of pads are you using? If you are using an older self that is not designed for a butterfly style, they might not have big enough knee blocks for you to slide on. Let me know if any of those suggestions work 👍

@robanthes13085 жыл бұрын
dropping to a lower level is tough even if you are "to good" for that league. 1) your use to playing with guys with higher hockey IQ. Back door tap ins, 2 on ones, breakaways... Happens way more often. 2) your own team will screen the SH$* out of you 3) Horrendous give-away's and poor rebound clears 4) weaker shots that flutter and dip are harder to save when you use to higher velocity shots with spin Good way to test your skills and be the hero for a team
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Rob Anthes yeah totally. It’s weird how that happens but you are right. For some reason when you are use to playing against better players and then you play against not as good, it’s harder to read what they are going to do. I hate the fluttering pucks that dip.

ItzEvan31 Gaming, at the end of the day, it’s about what you’re comfortable with and what works for you. I’m 6’ and use a 25” paddle. The longer paddle (depending on your blade placement in your butterfly) may leave a bigger hole between your arm and body (7 hole)

Do you think the beer league ref should have called it no goal, even if he originally blew the whistle thinking you had it? No replays means the refs should try to make the right call, even if by changing his original thought. I'm a rec goalie too, you played really well first half, but got a bit mentally / physically tired, you guys were getting hammered. The score reflected the game in the end, standing on your head for . 5 a game helps, but reality of the dominate team was obvious in the end
